I brewed this as an iced tea after finishing the last of DavidsTea Kanpe. Unfortunately, this doesn’t quite live up to the bar that Kanpe raised so high. It has a lot of the same elements, but it is a bit too floral and astringent for my liking. The tea has a natural sweetness from all of the fruit, but maybe a bit of sweetener (if you could stand it) would help balance out the hibiscus’ astringency.
Flavors: Berries, Flowers, Jam, Stewed Fruits
Preparation
Wow, this is much better as an iced tea. I brewed up the rest of the tin for a nice quart of iced tea. I cold-brewed it for a while. It is sweet and fruit, but not too sweet or drying like when brewed cold.
Flavors: Berries, Grapes, Plums, Stewed Fruits
Preparation
I got this as a sample in my April Hapa-tite! Tea Swap from Brittany~
I have to admit I don’t like iced tea as much as hot tea, and I definitely do not like plain black Lipton tea. BUT, I liked this!
My fiance was in the mood for iced tea, so I figure I’d be lazy and use a tea bag meant for exactly a thing, thinking he wasn’t as picky as I was in terms of tea.
I let it steep for a while in a big quart mason jar, around 30 minutes. The resulting flavor was actually quite refreshing and had a nice lemon flavor without the astringency I usually associate with Lipton black tea. It didn’t need any sweetening whatsoever, and 1 family-sized tea bag was the perfect amount for a quart of tea.
Flavors: Lemon Zest, Metallic
Preparation
For all of the ingredients in the description of this tea, I was expecting a sweet, burnt, and roasty cup. I got a clean grassy green tea with a subtle sweetness at the back. The second steeping of the leaves was a little more sweet.
Flavors: Grass
Preparation
This is a delightful pu’erh that balances the bitterness of coffee with the funkiness of fermented tea. It really met my caffeine craving and had a nice, deep roasted flavor (much better than the caramel macchiato from Lupicia or cafe mate from Capital Teas)
Thanks Nattie for sending me this from across the pond as part of our Hapa-tite! Tea Swap!
Flavors: Dark Bittersweet, Espresso, Tobacco
I received a sample of this from Suziqzer, thanks! I drank some of this last week and actually quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I was unable to re-create whatever I did last wee because I just brewed this and had to toss it out. It was over-whelmingly bitter and it was un drinkable.
