I normally don’t shop at Teavana because I find the sales associates to be far too pushy, but since working in the mall, I’ve established who isn’t and I go in when they’re working. Regardless of this, I’ve always found Teavana to be quite pricey so I tend to go to local tea stores or my all time favourite, Davids.

I wanted to get some teas for the last blast of summer heat that Canada is experiencing and with the help of the non-pushy sales girl opted for 50g of Sakura Allure for one of my teas. The smell of it in store was overwhelmingly cherry, however once I brewed it, I noticed it was much more tropical than it smells. It’s a shame in a way since I was looking for a pure cherry tea, but I still have Indian Summer (Davids) as well to deal with my addiction to cherry flavoured teas.

Overall I like it – the green tea base was a good choice and I love the subtle hints of rose. I’d purchase again.

I bought this one in my last 52teas order on the advice of a friend since I love chai tea. I really like this blend – the chai spices are really nice (I had yet to try a 52Teas chai, so this was a nice introduction). What makes this blend special is the punch of lemon midway to the end of the sip. It’s not overpowering by any means, but it is certainly present. It’s like dessert in a cup!

Yuck! I don’t know what is wrong with this tea but I’ve now tried it three times over the course of the last six months and I just hate it. The black base is weak and I don’t get salted caramel from this whatsoever. More like suntan lotion (I get a similar after taste with Redbull). Something to do with coconut not meshing well with something else. Tried it black and with milk. Ended up only drinking half before throwing it out. What a shame – really wanted to like this one.

Another wonderfully delicious iced tea from Davids this summer. The first time I made it, I didn’t let it steep as long as I should have (was in a rush to get to work) but still found it lovely (albeit mild). I made it again today with the proper steeping instructions and it is phenomenal – The first sip is strong berry (cranberry mostly on my palate) and the finish is goji/sea buckthorn. Very lovely and interesting tea. Like previous reviewers, I think too much ice is a bad thing with this one. I prefer it just chilled in the fridge and that is the way I prepare it when I have time.

I picked this up at Teavana the other day because a) I work in a mall with a Teavana instead of a DavidsTea and b) it was on sale. I was intrigued by the scent and I love love love iced tea. I have to say though – this 50g rule that Teavana has is super lame. I only wanted 25 to see if I would like it.

What I liked about the tea was that I could taste the oolong throughout the sip – often the base is hidden in other iced teas. It also had a strange cinnamon note that I really like. However, I find the tea to be a bit too perfume-y for my liking.

Often when I have an iced tea at Teavana, it tastes like crayon. Not that I eat crayons… but y’know, it’s waxy! Luckily this tea doesn’t have that quality.

This is one of my favourite DT iced tea’s of the summer. Although it reminds me of pink passionfruit in terms of it’s raw flavour, it’s definitely sweeter and lacks the tart notes of pink passionfruit. I only drink this iced – I don’t enjoy these types of “all fruit” teas warm. Will be sad when my tin runs out and fall is here…

Ooh la la!

I’m starting to think this tea probably wasn’t the best choice before bed (due to the chicory), but I just got my 52Teas order and couldn’t wait to brew a cuppa of this one! I’ll just start by mentioning that I’m not a Harry Potter fan by any stretch – in fact the first time I had heard about Butterbeer was at Universal Studios Orlando thanks to Harry Potter Land. So no bias there.

I do love root beer though, and that’s what attracted me to this tea. I never had a chance to try the root beer float tea from DT, so this is also my first root beer styled tea.

It’s actually pretty good! The root beer flavour is prominent and the underlying hints are quite buttery and mix well with the black tea base. I added a splash of milk, which has really enhanced the creaminess of the blend.

To me this is an oddly comforting blend. I dig.

I bought a teabag of this on a whim with my first 52Teas order (yay!) because I seem to love all things lime (I’m a huge lover of Davids Tea Lime Gelato). Lucky for me, this one is totally different than Lime Gelato so I don’t have to compare.

First off, the black tea base is absolutely splendid and much more flavourful than your typical black tea base for a flavoured tea (from your “normal” tea places like teavana and DT). Secondly, that lime is subtle! Wowza! I absolutely love this. It’s like the best twist on a traditional iced tea. I choose not to sweeten mine (just a preference) and in fact I added more water to my pitcher than recommended.

Phenomenal. Will enjoy till the last drop!

Wowza! THIS is good. Keep in mind, I’m a lime lover. A fairly subtle blend; most prominent is the lime and apple and the green tea makes a solid backdrop without overpowering the blend. There is also a creaminess from the yogurt that I think makes this tea really special. I oversteeped this one by a couple of minutes and it still turned out wonderfully and the green tea didn’t bitter. I’d be curious to see how this tea would taste hot, but iced it’s absolutely amazing. Will stock for summer iced tea adventures!
