I’m raising my rating for this tea. A couple nights ago I brewed this tea and was able to resteep from the leaves all night long. I drank 1.7L of water of 2tsp of the leaves, and I loved it. I’m almost out of my sample pack though. The more I drink it however, the more I feel like I should restock on it once I’m out. So good!
Preparation
This is from last night. This tea resteeped wonderfully. I ended up steeping it a lot longer than I had planned. My dog just got his first kong, and I was making him do his “be sneaky” trick to get it. He was being a bit stubborn with the trick though, and therefore by the time I got him to do it correctly I had way oversteeped the tea.
HOWEVER, that didn’t matter. The cup was still great. SO glad I grabbed this as a sample.
Preparation
This was my first tea I broke into from my Zen Tea sampling! When I took my first sip of this my initial thought was, “Wow this is silky and smooth!” I’m still not used to getting smooth from my teas, but it’s definitely something that I like!
While I was steeping this I did not get much of a scent out of it at all, granted my sense of smell isn’t the greatest either. When I drained it into my cup though I got a definite light and invigorating scent from it.
Picking out what this tastes like is a bit hard for me, because like the description says, the taste is complex and layered. In fact I only have a sip left and I’m still not sure what is exactly that I’m tasting. Definitely getting some floral and almost.. grassy taste from it. The grassy-ness kicks in in the after taste I think.
Overall, I think this was really enjoyable and calming. I’m excited to see how this handles a second steeping.

From my (extremely) limited experience with oolong and having read several tasting notes here, I’m learning that oolong is a type of tea that often keeps you guessing ’til the last drop. I love that about it and am looking forward to trying more oolong!
Yes! It most certainly does. I’m really glad I grabbed this as a sample. I’m also very limited in my oolong experience, but if this is how most oolongs are than I should definitely get some more!
Tea of the morning. I’m mostly drinking iced tea these days, but I like that it’s still cool enough early in the morning to sit out on my porch with a cup of hot tea and enjoy. In a few more weeks I may be drinking all iced tea all the time, but that’s ok since this EGC is mighty tasty over ice, too.
Preparation
Tea of the morning. The kids had a two hour delayed start for school because everything was a slick sheet of ice this morning. That meant I had time to actually sit down with my tea and really enjoy it. That’s not something that normally happens on a Monday morning!
I’m taking it easy today and drinking some of my favorite teas. I still have lots of samples to try, but I also have a headache that won’t quit, so sampling new teas wouldn’t be much fun today anyway. However, I must have tea, and my faithful standbys are waiting to meet cup and water. Have I mentioned lately how thankful I am for tea? Love this stuff!
Ah, Earl Grey Cream, such a lovely mix of Ceylon, bergamot, and vanilla. The taste is creamy and full of citrus and vanilla notes, both of which I love. There isn’t an overly perfume-y taste that can often accompany Earl Grey teas. Instead the bergamot is well balanced against the vanilla, and it carries much more of a fruity note than a floral one. That, combined with a super creamy vanilla that has no artificial flavor to it, makes this a complete winner for me.
Happy to have this as my first cup of the day.
Preparation
Knowing this was wrapped and sitting under the Christmas tree just about drove me crazy. I usually have a t least one cup of this a day, so I’m happy, happy, happy to have it back in its rightful place in my cupboard and my mug. All is right with the world. :)
Preparation
I ordered more of this yesterday, so I thought I’d use the very last of my current stash in order to make room for the 100g that’s on the way. Merry Christmas to me! :)
This tea continues to be one of my favorites and easily my favorite Earl Grey. I love the balance between the bergamot and the vanilla, and I love the creamy feel of the tea itself. Good stuff.
Preparation
Tonight was back to school night at my son’s school, so I made myself a cup of this to sip on while walking to the building. Nice cool night, delicious tea, and I had the chance to talk to my son’s teachers. They seem like absolute rock stars. I raise my cup to anyone who chooses to teach and works at doing it well. You’re awesome! :)
Also, I oversteeped this, but it was still fabulous. Win!
Preparation
Ah, this tea. I love it. I love the balance between the bergamot and the vanilla. I love that the base tea has significant body but is still wonderfully smooth. I love that even without cream this is a very creamy tea. So very good.
I’m running really low on this one (three, maybe four, teaspoons left in the tin), and I’ve been trying to talk myself out of ordering more because I honestly have too much tea. Then, while I was sipping, I realized it’d be silly of me to not order more. This is one of my happy teas. I’ll always drink it, and I’ll always (eventually) see the bottom of my tea tin again.
This one is a keeper.
Preparation
After my previous not-so-earl-grey Earl Grey I really wanted a nice bergamot-y cup of tea, do I reached for my favorite EGC. It’s so deliciously well balanced between the base tea, citrus, and vanilla. Still one of my all time favs.
Preparation
Tea of the morning. As odd as it sounds, I’m glad it’s Monday. I’m sooo glad last week is over, and I’m glad I have this tea in my cup. I’m thinking I might spend today drinking a bunch of my favorite teas just to kick the week off on a positive, happy note.
This tea is, as always, amazing. So well blended with the vanilla combining beautifully with the bergamot. And though I’ve said it in dozens of tea notes I think it’s worth repeating that the base tea is stellar. Zen Tea did a great job with the EGC.
In other happy news, I’m getting ready to watch a lady I sang with years ago defend her dissertation and hopefully receive her DMus. Her school is streaming the defense live, so it will be awesome to watch her defend her amazing work.
Preparation
I’m going to New Orleans tomorrow to meet up with family, celebrate my niece who is graduating from high school, and enjoy the long weekend. It should be a lot of fun. Of course, before the fun comes all of the work of packing and making sure the husband and kiddos have everything they need/might need/think-they-need-but-really-don’t before I head off to the airport. With such a crazy day ahead of me I want a few moments of calm before tackling the to-do list.
Nothing is more calming than Zen Tea’s Earl Grey Cream. Nothing. The moment I sip this tea I am in my happy place. Apparently my happy place has a wonderful balance of bergamot and vanilla. Good vanilla, not the cheap stuff. And my happy place has a base tea that is smooth but strong enough to have a presence next to the other flavors. Such an excellent tea, and such a lovely happy place.
Preparation
I went to a bridal shower this afternoon, and now I have an hour or so before I need to take my son to a birthday party at a roller rink (so loud!). Thankfully an hour is more than enough time to enjoy this tea. This is still far and away my favorite EG, and it does an amazing job of giving me the lift I need so I can keep going on these crazy, busy days!
Preparation
Tea of the morning. This is the perfect tea to sip on while getting my oh so grumpy family off to school and work. I guess this is our virtual Monday since yesterday was a snow day, so I should have expected the growling grumps around here. :)
Preparation
I find it hard to not be grumpy myself every day I wake up and see this miserable weather continuing. Even my 8 year old, who normally loves winter and snow, is tired of this long winter. “No more snow!” she tells me… lol Yesterday I woke up to -19C, today -17C. There is a hope on the horizon at the end of this week though… Temps are going up to a zero Celsius!! Yay!
This was in my cup for most of the day yesterday. I wanted to relax and play video games with my family, and this was the perfect tea to sip while getting my butt kicked in Mario Kart and while building my fortress of solitude in Minecraft.
My thoughts on this tea are the same as always. It’s an amazing EGC.
Preparation
Well, the single digit temperatures finally hit us, so I’ve been drinking copious amounts of hot tea over the past few days. I was really happy to have this in my cup while getting the kids to school. I’ve more or less stopped searching out other Earl Greys because I enjoy this one so much.
Lovely bergamot. Lovely vanilla. Nice, steady base tea. Perfect.
