I’m not a big fan of sweet teas or fruity teas but this one was pretty good. Not too sweet to the point where I couldn’t drink it. Now that I’m trying to reduce my intake of cookies and other sweets it definitely helps with my sweet tooth :)
I’m not really sure if I would buy it again though~
Preparation
mmmmm…. Lush, sweet, light and spicy.. Great combination and balance.. The rooibos is fresh and mildly sweet and I love the different spices, but it’s not strong. Except; the aftertaste of black pepper is a bit overpowering for my delicate taste buds. Would prefer a stronger taste of ginger instead.
The tea is soothing and stimulating
Preparation
There really is no hazelnut to be tasted here, which, for me, was a good thing. I can’t stand hazelnut flavored anything, which was why I was so reluctant to try this tea my mom gave me. An effort to use up the bagged tea I have, I ended up trying it anyway. After fixing it up with some vanilla almond milk and raw agave, this was quite tasty. I wound up asking my mom for some more.
Preparation
I received a sample of this tea from Yogi. For some reason I was thinking it was herbal. But then took a sip and tasted a little more then herbs! I also should never underestimate Yogi’s tea. I always think of it as “just another flavor lacking bagged tea.” But no. The first sip was like “BAM!! MINTY. SPICY. SWEET. UNEXPLAINABLE FLAVORS!” all up in my face (in a good way of course :D). But really this is an amazing tea. So.. sweet, minty, and spicy. I never would have thought these flavors would be working together so well. Well.. Yogi got me again.. Now I have to go and buy more..
Preparation
This is a good bedtime tea, sweet and soothing. I can taste the other herbs, but they’re not overpowering (as in many herbal teabags, for me) – the predominant taste is caramel, with maybe a bit of barley and chamomile. No licorice flavor! Yay!
Very good for a bagged herbal tea – will likely buy more whenever I see it on sale.
Preparation
No licorice—that’s a surprise! A limited variety of Yogi teas can be found in our part of the world. I’ll have to chase this one down. Hard to find a good nighttime herbal that isn’t lemony-minty.
I know! It seems like they put licorice (or fennel, or slippery elm) in just about everything :( And all bedtime teas must be mint, lemon balm, or chamomile – aargh!
But not this one! Well, a bit of chamomile, but it’s not the primary flavor… anyway, it’s a very yummy change :) I’d definitely recommend
I’ve found one really great tasting berry green tea and had some of this tea in my cupboard so decided to give it a try.
Bad idea, I put this into a travel mug and went out, and tasted it early on (3 minutes) tasted like no taste, then (7 minutes) little more taste but not enough, and then sadly I forgot the tea for 5 or so minutes longer and it came out strong, I was unable to taste the green tea. I was largely disappointed.
I love this tea, if not really for it’s flavor, but for it’s place in my Oh-my-god-I-can-feel-I’m-getting-sick-I-must-stop-this! ritual that I have. It goes like this: Take all of the vitamins and supplements on my sister’s dresser (girl’s got a lot), take a hot shower, drink a glass of ice water and at mug of this with a little honey, take a sleeping pill to force me to get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I’m serious, this works. As for the flavor, I’m not a huge green tea lover, but green tea is not really what I taste when drinking this. It’s got a very minty, anise-y kind of flavor that I think lends itself well to just a little bit of sweetening. I always have this around my house.
Preparation
While it has been a while since I’ve had this tea, I remember it well. I get anxiety and am basically wound up all the time, mentally and physically. I have learned to deal with it without medication. Kava is one of the only things that helped me other than passionflower extract or a prescription benzo like Xanax or Valium. I must say that I would brew with 3-4 bags for like 7-8 mins and would not take them out of the cup. As for the taste…cinnamony :) one thing that you can do to tell that kava is indeed in this tea is to hold a couple sips in your mouth for like 10-20 seconds. Do this enough an you will get a bit of numbness in your mouth. I can not attest to any problems with the tea as it was never strong enough for me. I’ve taken kava in extract form and it can definitely “slow you down.” Theres a reason it is called Grog, and in some cultures it’s used basically like alcohol. I’ve found all this out online in a short amount of time, so the hysterical reactions of some just make me laugh… If you see a warning, get some information before you drink.
While grocery shopping this tea caught my eye. It has a sweet/spicy taste to it. First taste is slightly spicy then it takes a turn for the sweet side leaving a vanilla/caramel aftertaste. You can definitely tell it has rooibos in it, too. It is a very nice “before bed” tea :]
Preparation
This herbal tisane isn’t too bad, needless to say I am in favor of anything that promotes a relaxed mind, which is why I picked it up. I have a lot of teas with caffeine but it is nice to have some herbal blends as well.
Lavender is not something I’ve been incredibly fond of in tea but I like it okay here. Lots of lavender and sage, I’m not wild about it, will probably finish the rest of it off someday.
Preparation
If I had to drink this stuff every 4 hours to maintain an even mood I’m not sure I’d consider it worthwhile.
In fact, I’m lowering the rating — which is primarily a reflection on its palatability. I can’t tell whether it’s helping with the mood. I’m pretty cranky right now, even with a yummy cup of sweet Bengal Spice in between doses.
Preparation
OK, trying this stuff again. We are having “issues” with the database I help manage at work, so I decided to try this as recommended therapeutically by Yogi — 2 teabags per cup, long steep, every 3-4 hours. On cup 1 now, with half-and-half.
Flavor is distinctly medicinal. I’ll be back after a bit to say whether it seems to be helping on the cheerfulness/optimism front.
Preparation
I’ve been MIA for a few weeks trying to clear out some of the clutter in my home. Seemed like an appropriate occasion to at least sample this tea, LOL! Note the warnings in the description, though.
I can’t comment on its efficacy at this point, but the flavor is… interesting. The spearmint hits you when you tear open the packet. First taste after brewing is sweet — cinnamon and licorice — then I’m getting the fennel and again the spearmint. I can’t detect the lavender at all, the clove is lost in the cinnamon, and the black pepper is a faint aftertaste that fades quickly.
Altogether it’s fairly palatable, esp. with my usual half-and-half, but I’m not sure I would drink it for enjoyment. Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice is similar (minus the St. John’s Wort, Lavender, and spearmint) and more to my taste.
Preparation
Yuck. Very sweet, I couldn’t finish the cup. Not a good experience. I would like to get rid of this tea and trade it away.
I gave this tea away at the 8/8/12 steepster meetup.
I definitely think this tea is an acquired taste. There’s a lot of flavors going on, and it can be overpowering at first. As for the claims that it helps with breathing, I neither support nor negate the claim because I never really drink this enough to notice if this helps me breathe better. I really wanted to give this tea another shot, so I tried another cup and I still found the taste too strong. I’m not really a fan of minty undertones followed by a sweet aftertaste, BUT drizzled with honey, this tea tastes better. Maybe if I mix this with other herbal teas, it will taste even better?
Preparation
I thought I’d try more of a medicinal tea today. Though I’m not sure how a tea could help your kidneys. This did taste a bit medicinal. Like most Yogi teas, there is a lot of ginger, ginger, ginger. Which I don’t like. I’m not a fan of ginger. But the pepper and the cinnamon almost made it like a chai cookie or something. There certainly isn’t a peach flavor. My tongue is kind of buzzing with pepper right now, probably because I drank the last gulp at the bottom of the cup. Not a complete gross out medicinal tea, but I don’t know how much it will detox. Compared to what? I wish Yogi would make non-ginger teas.
