It’s not bad. Has a mild astringency. Best thing about it – besides its being drinkable late night – is it nicely complements the flavor of a graham cracker with dark berry jam… its straight-ahead, no surprises flavor dances well with the jam’s sweetness, which in turn makes the cup smile.
Guess today is a Yogi Tea day. I received this from kittylovestea. Basically a few weeks ago she wanted to clean out her bagged tea selection and I volunteered for one of her mystery parcels. There was also a very pretty hippy necklace that I love and have now attacked my boyfriend with. He doesn’t seem to mind.
This smells spicy! It would appear that the bag ripped in transit, but it has done nothing for or against the strong scent and color.
The taste is not as strong concerning the accent notes I am accustomed to in rooibos, but it is notably strong and equally smooth. I think I can tastee a bit of the paper the company wrapped it in, but overall there is this amazing quality of age and grace, akin to one of those big ancient tome-sized dictionaries that sit on a pedastal. I think a lot of the nuances I am enjoying about this tea have to do with it being god-knows-how-old. I taste rooibost, dust, paper, cinnamon, sweet and old leather almost. More akin to a fine cigar than an herbal tea!
Shame there was only one teabag of this.
Preparation
I bought this when I had the flu and was in the fever and chills stage. After the bug passed, I decided I still liked it and frequently put two bags in a (really big) cup to get it a bit stronger. It’s not particularly spicy-hot and I don’t exactly taste the cocoa, but the whole thing just tastes like warmth. It’s fine solo, but I like it best with a little bit of honey.

I love this tea! Discovered about 5 years ago? The delicious aromas and stomach tingling make this a delight. One thing I do notice is, when I drink it later in the afternoon and closer to evening, it tends to keep me awake! Does anyone have an idea why?
I’m usually just sensitive to ‘coffee caffeine’ and not other things.
Kind of a weird duck. Not tea, not hot cocoa, not creamy, but not totally watery, has some mouth coating/filling quality. Not traditionally chocolaty, but reminiscent of a chocolate cocoa-y flavor. Boardering, on but not quite medicinal.
And yet not bad. It grows on you. I think it would be good late at night when you don’t want caffeine and might otherwise have a cup of something by Celestial Seasonings, but want something fuller, more flavorful and mouthfilling. But without caffeine or calories. Best with sweetener and warmed milk added.
Preparation
Very tasty and refreshing, wow! I thought I wouldn’t like this because I’m not fond of Assam or mint at (why try it then, me??) but the mint really is sweet! It’s nicely balanced out with other flavours too and is much sweeter than regular peppermint tea- I can see myself actually having this as a snack. Delicious!
Preparation
Always liked this tea.
It does seem to help me relax. Kava is not some hokey wives’ tale – it can be powerful stuff. I like the taste of it. Spicy and smooth. Personally, I’ve been cutting the bags open and mixing it in with some masala chai. Makes for a good spicy blend that wakes you up but keeps you relaxed. Tastes good too.
Preparation
Throw a bunch of… crap together and Yogi will call it “Caramel” and oh yeah, don’t forget that essential Yogi black pepper. There are so many ingredients here though. I have no idea how this is supposed to be caramel! I’m mainly tasting chamomile, which somehow is making it taste like plastic, pepper and stevia. The steep color looks like caramel, anyway! I’ve had better Yogi teas.
I will be treating myself to triple steeps of zentealife.com’s Phoenix Pearls all day tomorrow! (Or I guess today since it’s two in the morning.) I hope everyone is having the best holiday season they can! Happy Holidays!
Your first two sentences are exactly why I never review Yogi teas. Seldom do I feel inclined to review a tea with more than three ingredients. That rule has served me well.
Enjoy the Phoenix Pearls. A truly worthy sip!
I love teas of the root variety. I generally don’t drink such complex teas but this one is outstanding. There are so many other teas beneficial to fasting so I’m not done trying yet but this one is top of my list so far. Also, the longer you let this tea steep, the richer the flavors are. It leaves no bitter after taste.
Preparation
I bought a box of this at Whole Foods after reading some good reviews in a few anxiety forums. I’ve been having terrible anxiety lately and this stuff is a blessing. Basically, it puts me to sleep. It does have a strong smell but it’s not really a bad smell. It mostly just smells like cinnamon and ginger.
Preparation
So i woke up this morning feeling like my Throat had been slashed with a hot poker I was so tired when i noticed this that i started thinking my Nieces were writing there name on my throat So after a long day of meds and Sleep i am now drinking this tea the smell is very weird…. I feel like its got something you cook with in it… IM starting to think my stuffy nose is killing my smell lol BUT this tea is good and is doing its job!!! so its defiantly going to the Smile On the rating lol
After reading people’s reviews I was nervous to brew this, but I Just took my first sip and I’m very surprised to say that I really like it! I did add a small spoonful of raw agave nectar to help sweeten.
It tastes like a light spicy root beer. I might use it to do a monthly detoxification. :)
Well here I am at the store getting bumped and pushed by random people(since when did everyone get so rude :[) and I saw this wonderful box of deliciousness. The aroma is very spicy and creamy. The flavor is spicy, nutty, and creamy. VERY spicy. Woo! I still like it though :] A nice change after a few days.
