Steeped a cup of this in attempts to invigorate myself on a grey Michigan afternoon. It is very hearty and full-bodied; every sip seems to fill your mouth with a dark, lingering malty taste. It somehow reminds me a little of green tea (?), only much heavier.
Contrary to Twinings’ recommendation, I’ve only had it plain, so I can’t speak to its taste with milk and sugar!
Flavors: Bitter, Malt, Vegetal
Preparation
I have stayed away from Earl Grey previously because I’m not big on flavored teas, but it was inevitable that I’d get sucked into this classic sooner or later. I would prefer less bergamot flavor, as the flavor is stronger than the Teavana Earl Grey I had a few days ago. However, I didn’t like the Teavana Earl Grey until the second cup, so I’m guessing that this one will grow on me as well. I’m apparently very easily satisfied when it comes to tea, which is good for me…new additions all the time!
Archetypal black tea—a rich, mahogany liquid that’s hearty, substantial and warming like a bowl of oatmeal. Nothing unique to write home about, but does its job well; if you “could use A Cup of Tea™,” this is exactly what you’re looking for!
Flavors: Caramel, Grain, Malt, Roasted Barley, Vegetal

It looks like nobody has left a tasting note for this in years? The tea itself is fine, nothing special but not bad, but after CHAroma shared this article (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-34173532), I’ve made a pact with myself to avoid Twinings and the other brands mentioned here until the quality of life for those working on the estates the leaves are picked from is improved.
So this is the tea that started it all for me. My entire life I got used to drinking supermarket tea and was fine with that…until I tried this one. This is technically a supermarket tea, but definitely higher on the shelf than your standard Lipton’s and Tetley Teas. The aroma from this is just the most pleasantly soothing smell I’ve ever experienced. The bergamot is very pronounced and warm and comforting. The taste is, well, also warm and comforting. I drink this normally without any cream or sugar, but when I’m feeling like I need a special treat, I will make a London Fog out of this and it is just absolutely amazing. Do try it! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
Preparation
A virtuoso blend that manages to approximate the complexity, sweet tobacco notes and faintest hint of smoke of a premium keemun, while adding enough robustness and fullness on the tongue to pair well with milk and sugar. Rich, smooth flavour with light toasty/coppery notes and a slight bump of malt.
On a historical note, the flavour of this blend seems to refer to the original English Breakfast blend from the time when most teas came from China. At that time, pure keemun was used for this tea, and the “breakfast” in the name referred to the natural notes resembling toasted bread.
Flavors: Malt, Pepper, Smoke, Smooth, Sweet, Thick, Toast, Tobacco
Preparation
This tea has a lovely strong smokey flavour and scent! It is a black tea that is perfect for the evenings, or any other time! It can be prepared with or without milk and sugar.
Flavors: Roasted, Smoked
Preparation
This reminds me very much of an herbal tea served at relaxation acupuncture I attend. A very soothing blend of chamomile and mint with a mild citrus background. It’s uncommon that my husband should ever drink any herbal tea, but after trying a sip of this, he requested one of his own.
Flavors: Citrus, Floral, Mint
I had to struggle through this tea. This is the only Rooibos I have tried (and likely the only one I will), so I don’t know if it is the brand or if I just don’t like Rooibos. It was like drinking watered down cough syrup with some earthy notes. The real problem for me came afterward though, I think I am possibly allergic to this as I ended up with breathing difficulty and a flushed face. My rating reflects the flavour only, as for me personally it was a 1 and I think it’s best I never try Rooibos again.
Flavors: Earth, Medicinal
So apparently Twinnings does OP in a k-cup. I had no idea…
Being my first day at work though, I gave it a try. Not terrible overall, I’d say. I don’t mind overly strong black tea as long as there is milk and sugar around. It always reminds me of the way my friend who descends from Ireland makes tea. Ie he lets tetley steep forever. and ever. ha. Wait, did I just compare Twinnings to Tetley? Ooops.
Anyhow. Always feels like bad luck bringing tea from home on my first day. It never goes well when I do, people look at you funny.
If you do it once settled in, nobody pays attention. But on the first day? yeah, not a great first impression, though I haven’t figured out why just yet!!
Tea has an inherent aspect of coziness for me. Maybe we’re not supposed to feel so cozy on our first days somewhere? Hope your second week goes well and you settle into bringing your own tea.
This is my favorite from Twinings, the aroma is amazing. I really enjoy the citrus smell of the Bergamot fruit. I brew this in both teabags and loose leaf. I enjoy them both, the teabags are more convenient for carrying in your pocket. I usually take one with me to work and have it during my break since they only offer coffee. This is definitely perfect for daily consumption, great flavor and it wont break the bank. :)
Flavors: Bergamot, Citrus Zest, Orange
