This was also pretty weird. I’m not sure how I feel about this brand now, but at the same time, these were just samples I got in a trade. Anyway, it tastes like cherry cobbler to me, and it has a sort of creamy quality, but I found it kinda bland. Maybe I’ll try it with 2 teaspoons and see what I think. I couldn’t really taste the butterscotch chips.
This tea is so weird. Not only are there whole pistachios in it, there’s also cumin spice (which is used in making tacos) and peppercorns. While it does have a sort of sugar-cookie-ish taste, it does also sort of taste like… butter. And spices. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. But at the same time, I think this will have to be an acquired taste.
the great thing about a surprise is the many different ways that it can manifest. it can come in the form of ‘BOO!’, a lottery ticket win, realizing that someone was listening when you didn’t realize it and plugged in your favourite movie or meal. this tea was a surprise!
i am the scrooge that picks through the valentine’s day treats and chucks out the cinnamon hearts. they’re revolting. they burn my tongue and i hate the taste. i’m the one that only buys tins of watkins cinnamon because i genuinely think it’s the best tasting. don’t even get me started on oranges in tea: invariably tea companies dig too deep and include too much of the pith in the sample and my tea tastes bitter.
dry this tea smells like souped up cinnamon hearts. steeped… well, the orange much have been zested exactly right and the cloves of good quality because it works really well! surprise! the orange is present but doesn’t mess with my cream.
honestly the day couldn’t be better for it either because while the date may be june 20th it feels more like december 20th… wind, rain and a long day of errand running while it galed around me.
thanks cavocorax!
Preparation
Why did I start my morning with this cup? :O I also brewed the Countess of Seville (DT) and Vicky’s Sponge Cake (BB) but am drinking this one now. It’s too artificial tasting for me, and I think there are too many cloves or something. Something is givin me a weird burnt orange flavour.
Guess I’ll add this to my swap box!
Hahaha. Well, my feelings won’t be hurt if you don’t like it? It seems like a lot of cinnamon orange teas are artificial tasting like this… It’s good at times, but I already have one.
Spicy? Oh yes definitely getting that here! and butter… yep, can really taste that. Actually, I really like the buttery part. I just feel that it doesn’t mix well with the pepper very well. Something about the two of them together doesn’t sit right for me, atleast not in a tea. However I can see how other people would swoon.
Ah well!I knew this would be a love or… well, not love tea.
Thank you so much Alphakitty for this sample! I was SO curious about this one.
New blend by Tea Table. For some reason this tea stays smother with long steeps. Very full bodied. I think it is not a multifaceted taste, but it is ideal for a filling fortifying tea with cream and sugar on cold icy or wet days. Ideal for grey miserable weather. Bracing. Excellent with snacks.
This is one of the best oolongs I’ve had the pleasure of tasting, a delicious floral bouquet to it. Sipping this tea it’s much like the description from the company. It’s buttery and smooth, I don’t much detect the smokiness described, but it does have a green floral taste, a little bit of green-ish flavor.
It’s delightful to drink and the smell is intoxicating. It’s got to be one of if not the best I’ve had so far.
This is another tea that hasn’t quite reached a certainty. At first I didn’t like it, but, as it cooled and I continued sipping it was a bit more acceptable. I think I need to try it more often to see if it grows on me.
It’s a very spicy smelling and slightly spicy tasting tea. The cinnamon and cloves is very noticeable. At current, it doesn’t seem like there’s anything special with this, it does have a slight creamy aftertaste and almost a little bit like earl grey too.
