This tea has a nice soothing taste. It really does sooth the throat. I had bronchitis this past week and I pretty much lived on this tea. Of course, it’s only temporary I would advise going to the doctor for some medication, but this really does the trick meanwhile. A very delightfully tasty tea.
Probably like you, I got this as a free sample with my catalog. Among the ingredients are licorice root, which I happen to hate, but I gave it a try…even after the super strong cinnamon slapped my nostrils from one side of my face to the other. Bracing myself for what I thought was going to be a super strong brew, I was surprised how mellow this tea is. I could taste cinnamon and it had a little bite, but that’s about it. The overwhelming flavor, despite the lustrous reddish brown color, was hot boiled water.
Preparation
Didn’t feel like cleaning any more pots today before heading home from work so put a couple of bags of this in my mug to steep. Tastes as good as ever and I like having it as a standby for when the rest of the pots of tea go wrong (like today). Hopefully tomorrow’s tea will be more successful.
Preparation
Drinking this two days in a row it seems. So I’m sitting here eating some cheetos and there’s less than an hour left of work so I shouldn’t make another pot of tea because I’ll never drink it in time so bagged is the way to go. The sweetness of this tea won’t make my cheetos taste weird so there we go! This is as delicious as always.
You know, I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did. Normally I’m pretty wary of rooibos because I really don’t like the flavour straight and if it’s too strong in a tea it tends to ruin it all for me, but this tea is really very good. I can taste both the chocolate and the peppermint and not much rooibos at all, a little woodsy flavour in the background but it’s not strongly present. The peppermint and chocolate flavours complement each other rather than overwhelm. The peppermint is the first thing I taste and then the chocolate that lasts into the aftertaste. If it makes sense, I taste the peppermint with the tip of my tongue, but I taste the chocolate in the back of my throat. I really do like this tea.
Added sugar but not milk. The can says to add milk if you want, so I may try it again later with milk and see if it’s better.
Preparation
I found this in my mother’s cupboard, so I thought I would give it a try. Tastes like mulled cider lite, as if it were made with bottled apple juice rather than cider. Having said that, it tastes natural, if a little subdued, but then I don’t like it when herbal tisanes are over-spiced. A good drink when you come in from the cold, but then most hot teas are!
Preparation
Cinnamony and plummy, this green tea from TRoT is delicious! Thanks Josie Jade for the samples! The flavors are nicely balanced: it does not taste overly fruity or like fake cinnamon in any way. Very smooth, perfect for after the holidays in my opinion!
I’m glad you liked this one. I thought it was a little weak. I started to try to make a latte with it, but I don’t think the flavors would hold up well!
Have you ever tried RoT Cinnamon Plum black tea? They sound awfully similar…might be a better latte base.
I brewed this in my Libre tea thermos using one teabag and it was a bit weak, so next time I will follow the advice of some of the other reviewers and use two bags. The ginger peach combination is refreshing and pleasant. It seems as though it would be a lovely iced tea in warmer weather. This tea seemed to need more body, which maybe will improve when I use two bags. Typically I prefer a fuller bodied tea. It provided me with a nice afternoon drink which made my work more pleasant. Although given the choice between this tea and nice jasmine, I would usually pick the jasmine for my afternoon tea.
Preparation
Hmmmm. So I found this unopened canister of holiday tea in my cupboard and decided to give it a go. I am not a green tea fan, but I thought that since it is blended with cinnamon and plum what could go wrong? Well, I must say there isn’t much to brag about this tea. The aroma is fairly sweet with the green tea coming through at the end. The taste, however, is quite different. Very weak! No body, whatsoever. I didn’t even use that much water and I left the bag in the entire time. I get a slight hint of bitter plum at the end but that is all! Not sure if I will be finishing this tea….
I believe this tea isn’t available online anymore, so it really excited me when I found this at the local World Market.
Compared to the single other cherry flavored black tea that I used to drink, this cherry flavor is quite a bit more prominent. In fact, it is so prominent, that one may at first be inclined to say the flavor is slightly artificial solely because of the concentration of cherry flavor. I can’t say I very much enjoy the black tea base, however; bitters up very easily.
There isn’t much in the way of chocolate taste, at least typical caocao taste, in my opinion. It can perhaps be better augmented with a bit of sugar.
Preparation
It’s a nice tea but I just love red velvet so much that my expectations were really high. I agree with some one else who said maybe if there was a cream cheese frosting creamer it would really taste like red velvet. It tastes more chocolate than anything. The color steep a really nice red. It’s enjoyable but each time the smell does not match what I think it will taste like.
This is the last of the new teas we’re carrying where I work. I had sort of been avoiding this one because it was herbal and I’m not really a fan of orange teas. The bag smells very strong, like mint, ginger, and especially anise. That licorice aroma! It’s powerful and a little scary.
As it steeps, the water turns pale green, then eventually a sort of murky greenish brown. I know for a fact that there’s no fennel in this, but it sure smells like it. I detest fennel. The taste is not much different from the smell. The most dominant flavor is tingly anise, followed by orange, then mint. As usual with The Republic Of Tea, the ginger is barely noticeable, which is a disappointment I should expect by now. Essentially, this tastes like watered-down medicine and I will not touch it again.
Another afterthought — The combination of spices in this reminds me of oregano. I’m thinking pizza sauce here.
Preparation
I found this in bulk at the supermarket and decided to get a test run sample. I love cinnamon and cardamon and I’m looking for more decaffeinated options for the evenings, so it seemed promising. It appears to be largely cinnamon bark bits with cardamon in pod and seed form and a few peppercorns, anise seed pods and ginger root. I let it steep for six minutes, but I’m not getting much flavor. I can feel the cardamon on the sides of my tongue just after each sip in that cardamon tingle sort of way. I might be getting some ginger heat if I really think about it. Not much in the way of flavor tho. It’s not very well rounded and lacks a depth or heavier base flavor to it. Kind of just tastes like my spice rack threw up a little in my cup without much thought to it. It’s not bad, but there is no wow there at all.
Not a huge fan of this tea. It tastes like a tea I hated and put carmel in it to try an make it taste better. It has little flavor, and is nothing like I expected. I did not really taste the apple in it tasted more like their Hot Apple Cider tea than anything else.
Hmmm…not sure I tasted much of anything in this tea. I always sweeten my tea, so as usual I put my tsp of honey in and let it steep. The first sip all I could taste was honey! No mango, no ceylon. I have not tasted this without sweetener, but I may try it to see if that changes my mind. I also gave my boyfriend a sip without telling him my own thoughts and he said, “this tastes completely like honey”. One tsp of honey should not have overpowered this tea to the point that it was the only thing I could taste. However, even with the honey, I think this is a nice simple tea for a cool morning.
