I decided to give this tea another shot as a cold brew. It wasn’t really my cup of tea hot, but iced + coconut usually = good things! This got a short steep, since I made it last afternoon and drank it around midnight, but it was delicious! The white base really shined, and wasn’t as overpowered as it was before. The coconut is nice and fresh-tasting, and the cream is a LOT more subtle and doesn’t overwhelm the other aspects. Cold, I could see this being something I reach for often, very tropical and summery. Upping the rating a bit!
I had pretty high hopes for this tea. I love coconut, and I’ve heard great things about The Persimmon Tree. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a decent tea, but I wasn’t blown away. The coconut flavor was spot-on, nice and tropical and sweet, the white base was nice and light with a touch of floral notes, and the cream was… well, creamy. They didn’t work entirely cohesively for me though. Coconut + white tea = good. Coconut + cream = soft & delicious. But the cream with the white base was too heavy for me, and seemed to overpower the tea a bit. It was really a nice cup, but not as fantastic as I’d hoped. I think my expectations were pretty high, because this is tasty, especially as it cools. I kind of want to buy some for ice cream making… I could see this being so good when steeped in a custard base!
Preparation
I have been waiting for these cute little samples from The Persimmon Tree to arrive all week! Well they came today and I decided to try the Peach Apple Crisp first. I really like this a lot. It is very smooth tasting to me. I can’t definitively say I can taste the peach or apple but the combination is nice. It could be a tiny bit “peachier” for my liking but I think I will try it iced next to see if it tastes fruitier that way. This company has $1.00 -$1.25 samples so it is a great way for me ( as a new tea tester/drinker) to try lots of different teas without buying a whole bag of something I don’t like…. Like red rooibos or honey bush …. But that is a different story.
A nice naturally flavored tea – meaning that I find no artificial flavors on my palate.
Strong but non astringent nor bitter black tea base which seems to hold up well to ice cubes if you want to ice your tea. I like this as often when I cold steep I still do not feel okay putting ice in my tea even with double leaf used.
Perhaps a Ceylon base although I am not sure of that.
I stepped a bit longer at 3:30 and it still is not bitter or astringent!
Made for an even stronger flavor without losing the flavor or the lychee or peach.
It is not an overly strong fruit flavor however so if you are looking for a strong fruit this may not be for you but if you like your teas lightly flavored with more of a good base flavor this IS for you!
Preparation
All I know or think I know lol is it is an Asian fruit. Or I should say a fruit grown in Asia. LOL
It has a less sweet flavor in my opinion.
Earthy.
I tried a lychee from the Asian market and thought it was horrible. I tried Harney’s Lychee tea and it was great. It tasted like a softly flavored rose tea.
Yeah I hear a lot of people do not care for the fruit. I had a fruit drink once from a health food store that was terrible!
Got a sample of this in my last order:
I used to LOVE chai – always what I would order at a coffee or tea place. Then I lost interest because of all the other wonderful options in tea. Its been a long time since I have indulged in a chai and this was a wonderful way to come back to the goodness!
Autumn is my favorite season and while it is summer here now I just amped up the air con and pretended I was mid October! :)
The flavors are very well balanced and I added a little vanilla coffee mate which the tea took to very well. Oh oh I think I have some whipped cream in the fridge!
I love that this chai can handle additives but even on its own it is delicious!
I’m on a tea-buying hiatus in order to control the massive amount of space my tea cupboard takes up. I bought over 100 types (not including any samples) in only 3 months. ;~; So, no more tea buying! Even samples! But somehow, a small (5 sample) order from The Persimmon Tree snuck in. At $1 a sample + free shipping I couldn’t really resist since there were a few flavors I’d really been meaning to try. This was not one of them, but I’ve never had lotus flavored tea so I was curious.
I’ve had a lot of lotus-flavored snacks: one of my favorite things to pick up in Chinatown is candied lotus root (even if it does trigger a bit of my tryophobia). It’s got this juicy, crisp quality very reminiscent of watermelon with a nice earthiness too. So I foolishly hoped this tea would taste like that, despite it being stated as anise-like with a hint of vanilla. Well, those flavors are definitely there and quite pleasant actually, but the base green… oh my god. Mushy canned peas. I HATE peas, and this tea is all steamed veggies. Not nice, fresh from the garden veggies (I’ll even eat peas if they are very fresh)… canned veggies that have been sitting in a grocery store for 2 years. I had 2 sips and had to pour it out, it was making me nauseous. If it weren’t for the anise/vanilla at the end, this would get a big fat rating of 1. But really, you don’t want vanilla in your canned peas. It might actually make it worse!
Preparation
It’s going pretty well so far! My debit card is currently not working due to some idiocy on my bank’s end and I am confined to only using sites that take Paypal. That’s pretty much the only reason why I haven’t purchased any more tea… I almost made an order at ESP Emporium today before I remembered they only take cards!
I pretty much have no self control, I’ve just decided to allocate a monthly budget to tea (which is a lot less than what I’ve been spending) and try to stick to it!
Excellent Iced! Cold steeped in fridge – perfect summer tea!
Excellent guava flavor no artificial taste and the perfect amount of ginger! Very light on strawberry – could be stronger but it does peek through.
A VERY good white tea base to boot!
haha I second that Invader Zim. Although, if it’s hot brewed I don’t mind the ginger. But for iced it’s not my cup of tea.
I am a bit the opposite actually. And I can’t handle too much ginger but this is actually quite nice. :)
I have found it difficult to save photos from their site. Its a flash site or something like that so I have to resort to google searching it. I noticed most of the photos are just the tea.
Enjoying another cup of this. I really wish that Steepster could merge the two different Persimmon Tree areas. Anyway … this is indeed a very nice Passion Fruit Jasmine tea. Mellow and relaxing and not an in your face flavor but just sort of like an easy breezy Sunday after noon drink. The flavors are relaxed and well blended to where the Jasmine and the Passion Fruit compliment each other without fighting for the focus.
A very lovely and smooth tea that relaxes and unwinds the soul. I really like this one. I do have to use a bit extra leaf as I like it iced but enjoy it hot as well.
Add a little sugar to bring out fruit flavors even more!
Delicious!
Preparation
I was not expecting much from this. It didn’t look like a Darjeeling; it didn’t smell like a Darjeeling. Heck, it didn’t even taste like a Darjeeling. But – oh my – what a taste it was! Fruit candy on the front, and a malt-’n-floral trail-off. It reminded me quite a bit of teas put out by the Oothu estate (also a biodynamic op). In a word, “Perfect.”

Preparation
Its been a long while since I have enjoyed this one which is one of my favorites!
See older note and also check http://sororiteasisters.com/ on the 18th for a full review.
I adore this tea! I have had this on my Wish List almost since I first began sipping loose leaf tea. It was one of my first samples ever received! No idea why I waited so long to order it.
Its creamy, slightly tart with the lemon flavor I am finding I love in many teas, the vanilla is NOT over done and you can still taste the pouchong coming through.
The smell is dreamy!
I also find that a slightly lower heat level and a bit longer steep do this tea well. Otherwise you may find it a bit on the weak or watery side.
One of my favorites.
Preparation
I am going to up the rating on this one just a tad. The big issue I have with this tea is I PERSONALLY do not care for mint as much as I used to HOWEVER on the flip side I am beginning to appreciate FLORAL teas more.
So I have flip flopped. Regardless, this is a well blended tea and what I know now that I didn’t know so much back when I first rated it is that ratings should reflect more than just personal preference.
This IS a good tea, well balanced, well blended, good flavors, very natural tasting. I do not taste anything artificial about it.
I will do a full review on SororiTea Sisters later today. I am in a chill moment right now enjoying this rather relaxing, quite soothing cup, thinking nap time sounds good. I think this would make a really lovely bedtime tea!

Here are my snippits:
Amore’ from The Persimmon Tree is a beautiful tea to look at and I find it to be so soothing, relaxing, and just calming. I always have a cup of tea beside me on the table when I fall asleep at night, even if I don’t finish it, I just like to know a cup is there. This tea will be a perfect bedside companion!
Delicate big white tea leaves that look all fluffy like clouds or a big squishy pillow, pretty roses, the soothing, breathe easy aroma of mint, what more could one ask for at night?
Everything about this tea tastes natural.
I think I like this even more than a chamomile tea for bedtime!More of what I am calling Sample Saturdays here .. Every Saturday I am going to dedicate most all of my tea drinking time to samples sent to me by companies but mostly friends in swaps.
Thank you to Tommy Toadman for this sample!
It is definitely minty and I do love minty! Very nice tea base, and is that a slight sweetness I get there? Perhaps. If so it is done just perfectly.
The rose is very lovely and melds wonderfully with the mint – as TeaEqualsBliss says – about 50/50.
Only getting a very very slight “fruity” flavor and not sure what fruit I am supposed to be tasting here but maybe that is the slight sweet flavor I am picking up.
A nice tea – something I would enjoy every great now and then. Tommy was very generous with the sample so I don’t think I would want to reorder anytime soon but will have an iced version soon!
Thanks Tommy
Preparation
What I like most about this tea is the subtle smoothness of the coconut. It is sweet and fragrant and delicious (if you like coconut). The addition of the cornflower and safflower makes for a nice visual, though they add nothing to the overall taste. A simple delight, nicely done.
Preparation
Oh, my stomach is killing me tonight. Too much of a yummy dinner! I turn to this tea because it’s gentle and has ginger and lemon. I must say that if I didn’t “need” this tea that it wouldn’t be my first choice. It’s a bit plain with not a lot of lemon flavor. I’m not the biggest fan of ginger, but find myself drinking it to help my stomach. There is something about that sweet ginger flavor that I don’t like. There is also a strange stale note in this tea — it doesn’t seem to be the freshest tea I’ve had. Off to rest my upset tummy.. oye.
Okay so I bought this a while ago but something went funky with it I guess. It started to smell off like metal almost and I tried drinking it and it was horrid. So I asked in my last order with The Persimmon Tree to send me a sample – just so that I could be sure it was in fact that the tea was off and not me, my steeping parameters, my taste buds etc lol
Ends up it has to be my batch of tea as this sample is YUMMY!
So not changing my rating from before which was right when I first got it before it went bad – and is a fair rating for this tea. :)
Glad I got that figured out – just sad I have to dump a 3/4 full tin of tea. Bummer.
Very nice! REAL coconut shreds in this tea, an excellent white peony tea base that you can really taste behind the flavor components! Re-steeps nicely up to 3 steeps before I had to stop. Could go more perhaps? Milky but not overly creamy, nice balance! Can’t wait to try iced!
Preparation
Delicious, smooth, creamy, flavorful. There are many words to describe this tea but I’m having trouble finding the perfect one that describes all of these wonderful flavors. I agree with some of the other reviews that I was a bit nervous and worried as to how all of these flavors would blend together but it does masterfully. I love a good oolong and let me say, this is a good oolong. Silk, that’s the word :)
I have had some REALLY yummy teas from The Persimmon Tree but this is not one of them unfortunately. For some reason my tea taste old and stale. I just received the sample a week or two ago so it should be fresh but I don’t know its just “off”. I can tell if it were not for this off flavor it would be very good as it is blended well with peach, orange, and strawberry flavors that are noticeable and not chemically or fake tasting but again there is something just not right with this tea. Sorry.
Another that I had yesterday.
Before this, I had tried only one other oolong. It was overly perfume-y and not something I was very fond off. When I found out this was oolong, I was disappointed at first. I’m so glad that I bothered to try it though! This teas smells absolutely wonderful. It has a creamy, oolongy smell and tastes just the same. The vanilla flavor blends really well with the oolong taste. I will definitely be stocking up on this one!
It really is! I only have enough for a cup left and I’m planning on giving it to my mom, otherwise I would send you some. I really recommend it
