So i have to say I really enjoy this one – better than the Mandarin Silk by a bunch. The rooibos isn’t overpowering the tea so I’m still enoying it and the vanilla isn’t too strong. Instead it just adds to the creamy factor. I’d order this one again to have as a nice treat in the evening.
I just don’t care for this. The chocolate and banana can’t drown out the medicinal flavor most rooibos blends have. The only rooibos I have really liked was heavy on spices-like a masala chai. I do taste what seems like black pepper here (from the pink peppercorn?), but it’s not enough to overcome the medicine-y taste and it certainly does not complement the chocolate and banana flavors either. Maybe I’ll try an extra long steep, but I probably won’t be buying this again.
Preparation
Not enough rooibos blends in my cupboard, especially not since i received my box of awesomeness from Terri :) Thought i’d have a cup of this tonight to see if memory stacks up to the reality. While this is still a nice blend, there’s a bit too much oily residue on top of the cup of tea. It still tastes delicious but not nearly as wonderful as it once was.
Took some of this with me tonight when we went out to celebrate a friends birthday at Wvurst. Basically think cafeteria style seating with a bar and a place to order sausages! Gluten free option for one of our friends who can’t have gluten. Best part of the evening besides the tasty sausages? couple of friends we haven’t been able to hang out with on their own are going to drop by tomorrow for evening games, dinner and…tea! They’re curious about all this tea business and are willing to have me nerd out on them a bit. It’ll be nice to have another couple over. Now to find the gluten free teas :)
Anyway this was a nice contrast to the tasty tasty sausages and helped with that whole grease effect from the fries and such. Overall a pretty nice soft, sweet cup for a great day of tea drinking!
I’ve been meaning to try this tea….I love mint chocolates, mint chocolate chip ice cream, mint teas, and chocolate teas. This is definitely on my shopping list!
Usually through the vendors. All straight teas would be, of course, but yes, some dessert ones in particular are not (e.g. containing “crumble” or other different ingredients. My gf roommate doesn’t have too many issues with tea, although every now and then she gets suspicious of one or another.
It’s been a while since i’ve had this one and it’s a wonderful afternoon tea for this rainy day. It’s been dark outside here at work since about 11am so it’s felt like time to go home since then. It’s the kind of day where all i want is to curl up on the couch at home in my comfy clothes, watch a movie after dinner (of roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob) with a steaming cup of delicious wonderful tea….
So I really wanted to mix this with winter fire from butiki but when I wasn’t looking my other half drank the last of it on me. HE loves spicy things heh. However, this was a nice end to the evening. I wanted something caffeine free or low in caffeine and this gave me that plus some minty chocolate goodness.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this tea – it’s only my second chocolate tea and the other was David’s Tea – Read my lips. What i love about this tea? It’s a totally different beast than the David’s tea! I was a little worried that they’d be too similar but where Read my Lips is all about the minty after taste that leaves me wanting more, this is a more subtle tea with more of the chocolate coming through. Overall a really nice tea for this evening.
Preparation
What a beautifully fragrant tea! Right out of the gate you can smell the sweet floral scent on the leaves and upon starting the steep the scent only gets more intense and lovely. I was a bit surprised by how dark this tea brewed, since the flavors were so airy and light. If you have ever had the pleasure of tasting honey suckle on a fine summer’s day then you have an inkling to the relaxing and sweet floral flavors that this tea is all about. The second steep I found to be as strong as the first, though smoother in texture. With the third and fourth steeps the flavor is still there, though a bit weaker with each brewing. Really pleased with this tea.
Farewell my dear green caramel! SIPDOWN! This was one of the first teas i ordered when i was exposed to so many different teas through steepster. I have to say over time it hasn’t lost it’s happy place with me. I still find it quite enjoyable, though there are many other teas out there that i prefer. So far though, in terms of green caramel teas – The Persimmon Tree is my go to.
mmmm afternoon dessert tea to have before my meeting. It’s nice to just take a moment to relax and watch the snow fall. Sooo much snow, it makes me giddy! This blend still makes me happy with it’s delicious caramel taste. Likely a reorder as i’m nearly at the end of my small tin.
Man I haven’t had this one in AGES….this is a really nice blend of caramle and green. Bumping up the rating a little :) If it weren’t for their insane shipping to canada i’d be buying more from the persimmon tree company. I’ll likely be restocking this one though when i run out because i love me some caramel! :)
DT’s Creme Caramel Rooibos is pretty good. Though of course, it’s a rooibos (but not a nasty-tasting one). I found the two similar aside from the base.
I think you Canadians should just have your stuff shipped to us in the States and then come visit. :D
Nik – funny story, that’s technically what I do at least once a year heh I’ve got friends that I visit yearly down in Florida so they have a closet they keep all the stuff I order and ship there for me to pick up haha
MMMMMMMMMMM afternoon tea! It’s been a day of chaos here at work so even though I haven’t manage to get time for lunch (yes i know that’s bad and yes, it IS after 4pm…) I found 5 mins to boil some water and toss this into a cup to sip on my next conference call.
I haven’t had this in a while so I’m really digging the caramel notes. I’d forgotten just how much i really enjoy this delicious tea from the Persimmon Tree Tea. I just wish I could justify the shipping to be able to order from them more often. Sadly this may have to wait to come off my shopping list until next year when I get down to the US again. :(
I highliy recommend giving them a shot though if you’re in the US as they have some wonderful teas!
Still loving this tea. I woke up this morning still sore from my workout session on Monday – nothing says HELLO MONDAY! like a kick in the face from a personal trainer let me tell you lol In any case, I couldn’t bring myself to try a new tea this morning even though my table’s still got tea on it, and more’s coming. Instead I wanted a tea that wouldnt disappoint. It’s been a bit cooler in the mornings, to the point where I know need to wear a sweater in to work. While i love the fresh cool air (i am NOT a fan of humidity coming from the prairies originally), this morning it just made me want to curl up under the covers and snuggle in next to my other half.
Sadly, this was not allowed. So instead I comforted myself with a sweeter, creamy tea that was as close to curling up under the blankets as I could get. The caramel mixed in with the green was a perfect hit.
mmmm I really like how the flavours in this one blend together without overpowering one another. While I’d normally have this later in the day, I decided to start my day out with it for a treat. It’s my second last day of this job and today is day 3 with the personal trainer so I need a little pick me up! :)
Cold brewed this last night and tried to drink it this morning. I’m not sure if I just brewed it too strong, but the cold brew bought out more of the flavours i didn’t like. I’m going to send the rest of this off to a good home I think since I don’t appear to enjoy it as much hot brewed, and cold is off my list entirely.
I may have steeped this too long, was a busy day at work butif that’s not the case, this just isn’t appealing to me. Will have to try again tomorrow. Idid notice more of an apple crisp type flavoring though… So that was good.
I’m thinking youre right and this just needs to be a cold tea. So far, not loving it hot. That’s ok though…not everything needs to be hot :)
