taking a break to enjoy some fruity goodness. I know i didn’t love this like omg buy more of this last time i picked it up, but it is a really nice treat when it’s this hot/humid out. i like the tartness of this that turns slightly sweet.
oh man..this worked out so well as a cold brew today. Just the right amount of sweet and dragonfruity taste. if i could get every cold brew cup to taste like this, it’d be worth picking up again heh.
yep, cold brew of this is the way to go. Hot it’s sort of tasteless, or at least really light. Cold brew, while it’s still light in the intensity of it’s taste, it’s a much more refreshing tea. I’ve had dragonfruit before and i guess this is sort of like it… not a re-order for me but i will enjoy the rest of the sample VariaTEA and i split :)
I guess i should have written a tasting note on this one before it’s gone. I’ve tried this cold and hot, and i think i prefer it hot. I get the sense of rhubarb out of this one but not super strong. I think i prefer the dragon fruit one to this one because the flavour in this one is muted somehow. Enjoyable to drink but nothing i need to keep in my cupboard.
I was actually given this tea by my coworkers while I was laid up in the hospital in January. Unfortunately I was on blood thinners at the time and, as I discovered, blood thinners interact with EVERYTHING. Fast forward to now and I’m off blood thinners (thank god, they’re awful) so I can finally try this tea.
The smell of the dry is lovely, it’s a cross between sweet apple and basil. Unfortunately the nuances of the other ingredients aren’t really present in the flavour and the tea most just tastes like basil – which is pleasent enough but not a tea I’d go out of my way to drink. Oh well it’s the thought that counts.
Preparation
This poor dear was given to me as a sample in a zip lock bag. Goodness knows how old it was when I got it. I wouldn’t say it was fresh because it had very little aroma in the leaf. I steeped it and was greeted with the ghost of a chai. So faint I know that it must have been a victim of time and improper storage. Oh well.
So, I think Tealish has renamed this blend to Blueberry Bliss. Anyway, I’ll post my review here because the photo and the ingredients are the same as the tea I am drinking.
Spring has sprung in my neighbourhood, and this is one of my favourite teas to have at the beginning of the season. It tastes like bright, sweet, fresh blueberries and the hibiscus flavour isn’t too strong. I think it would also make a great cold brew as well, but I’ve been having it hot. I bought a big bag of this tea 2 weeks ago, and it’s almost gone. I will definitely be restocking this one.
Flavors: Blueberry, Sweet

The strawberries. The chocolate. It’s like chocolate covered strawberries… in a small container. It smells so good and it tastes so good. I picked this up at Chapters one day because it was on sale and I wanted to know what Tealish thought “donuts” tasted like. Well… this tea doesn’t taste like donuts… but when the flavour is strawberries and chocolate, it is impossible to feel let down. Well done Tealish. Well done.
I had entertained trying this tea before, but I wrote it off as just another generic ginger tea. But when I came across this one in my Tealish sampler, it was love at first sniff. The dry leaves remind me of Jelly Babies. (Which happen to be my favourite British sweet)
The flavour of this tea is soft and whimsical, which I’m finding is true of many Tealish teas. It’s pleasantly gingery, but without being too strong, and somewhat sweet and citrusy.
If I keep having success with Tealish teas, I’m going to have to take a trip to their store in Toronto…
(Though it does bother me when tea companies recommend people use boiling water, even on delicate green tea leaves)
Flavors: Citrus, Ginger, Sweet

I picked up on clearance at Indigo! Reg $32 on for $23. Tealish still has it on their website for 32. Well worth even the higher price.
It’s sold out on the Indigo website. You can check stock in local stores online though. If you’re in TO then you probably have better luck at finding a box. I’m in Hamilton, had to go to Burlington to get it.
Thank you. You are one determined tea shopper. :)
I totally get that.
Although I have gone way overboard on teas in November and December. And the not-buying-tea-savings-plan began on January 1st. :)
But $23! Yay.
cough I stopped into a DT yesterday and got somewhat mesmerized by the 40% off displays. Similar damage. cough
This is very similar to Tealish’s Lavender Mint tea that I raved about in the summer. It also reminds me of Davids’ Midsummer Nights Dream tea. Both are pretty high on my favourites list, so that’s a good thing. I’m pretty in love right now.
It differs from Lavender Mint of course in the fact that there’s no mint in this one, which makes it a much more subtle flavour. It’s also got a creamy citrusy-ness to it.
I picked this up in a sampler pack of Tealish at Indigo today, but I’m glad to see that Well.ca carries Sleepy Fairy so I can easily restock!
Flavors: Cream, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Vanilla

HOLY this smells RUM-EY. Another one from omgsrsly. this one is a fail for me though. Something about the taste reminds me of amaretto and dirt. blech. not a fan, but super grateful for the taste since it’s something i likely would have picked up myself heh.
I just started following you, and wow… Do you normally drink like 10 teas per day? You have reviewed a LOT of tea today.
hahaha i was just thinking, i was being a bit slacktactular with my tea drinking today. In all fairness, no, Mon-Fri it’s generalyl 3-4 teas but on the weekend if i’m house bound and not running errands and such, then yes i drink a lot :)
and it’s only been 7 so far! haha. Also the holidays are atypical for me since i can work from home – monday i’ll be back to my usual grind
DT Butter Rum is excellent as an eggnog latte, so this one must be.
But where can one find eggnog in January?
noms! sipdown weekend go! sad to see this go but it’s from a CANADIAN company AND they’re here in toronto…sooo i can get more anytime :)
I say this too but I find I am usually quicker to order tea than I am to go to Queen to get more Tealish lol
Yay for a Canadian company! I have never had any Tealish, but I will certainly check them out. Canadian companies will be getting more of my business with the crappy dollar. :) what other companies should I check out?
tigress – we can report back after the toronto tea festival as well if there are new companies worth checking out heh
Chapters still carries some H&S! Tea bags, not loose, but it’s sometimes nice to be able to just pick it up instead of ordering.
Sil: When I last went to the Tealish store on Queen West, they still made me by a minimum of 50g, even if it was loose-leaf. Did they do smaller amounts before?
Tigress_al: There’s also Wymm Tea if you want to try pu’erh, Murchie’s if you want some robust black blends, and Algonguin Tea Company if you want some unusual, Canadian-grown herbals.
Heads up, people. The last time I passed by Tealish on Queen, it was boarded up and gone. It is now on Ronces. 367 Ronces.
Of course, you’ll probably want to get down to 75 before you venture over there, but at your pace, that’ll probably happen by mid-February or so. :)
the more i have this one, the more it reminds me of the ones from fauchon and DF but with a black base…or roasted oolong, i forget which this is lol i don’t think i need this in my cupboard for a while – maybe once i’ve finished the fancy french versions and i get a longing to have that taste again – then i might consider it. :)
