Tealish

In keeping with my overall opinion of Tealish’s flavoured senchas, this was nice. I was a bit underwhelmed on first sip, but then the subtle flavours grew on me. Sweet strawberry and more earthy rhubarb were both detectable, and blended really nicely with the green tea. I don’t know if it’s something I’d reach for often so I’m thinking I won’t buy any at this (over-inundated with tea) point, but I did enjoy it.

This is good. The cham is making me so sleepy. and whoa is it ever potent! (yeh, we’re close. On a nic basis ya know)
Sweeter than I expected, and yet balanced out by the spearmint. Does rosehip mellow things out?? I thought it was sour. Meh. Maybe I’ll find the rose next time. Aw who am I kidding, Valentines was over two weeks ago…
Anyhow, I prefer peppermint over spearmint so this was a hair too spicy. A quarter teaspoon of honey fixed that right up, almost too much. I think I’ll add a little less next time.

This is like a berry cider with spice and a hint of creamy yumminess.
Quite different than many of the other berry teas I’ve grown tired of over my tea heartin days. I love how unique and comforting it is. Ahhh this would have been so lovely throughout those chilly days, or in the evenings by a fire. It really is a “winter” blend!
I drank this so fast that I didn’t get to see it grow cold. Not sure I’d like it iced, but I’m curious to see if more of the almond comes out to play.

Hrm. I guess I really am picky about my chai. This was ok. Just!
A little too sweet for me, in a way that I’m having trouble pinpointing, and that I could have seriously done without. Maybe it was the combo of vanilla bean and cinnamon? It was so odd. Like a chai gone stale. That said, I certainly don’t hate it. and I do love that the tea leaves were processed ctc style! Certainly a drinkable cup, and loads better than Tetley :) The coconut aspect was lovely but I can see now that it really doesn’t belong in my perfect cup o’chai. Or so it seems!
Anyhow. Based on the first infusion, I’d have given this a 75. However the second steep mellowed out considerably. I really enjoyed that one! so it’d get an 85. Thus, I’ve chosen 80 as my rating.

This is a nicely-done fruity black, a type about which I can be picky. I appreciated the substantial-but-not-bitter black base, too. But, I agree with the other reviews that say it’s just kind of underwhelming. I don’t think anything about it is memorable. In fact, it just made me want to drink a cup of Notting Hill from Yumchaa for a little more fruity kick! I expected from the scent and the ingredients list that this one would have too much going on, and I think that is the case. While the fruit flavours are nice, they all just blend together.

Cold brew sipdown!! (378/360)

So this was in a little DavidsTea bag simply labelled “Queen West”. It’s from when the Toronto Tea Party still existed and we bought a 50g bag of this to split.

I don’t hate it! It’s rather good, but…underwhelming. Just kind of meh. Basic fruit with basic cirtus. I can’t really pick out any specific flavors. It’s a nice cold brew, but not worth restocking.

I love a good fruity black, and that’s what this is. I’m enjoying my cup and will likely reach for it over and over until our little sample is gone.

But once that sample is gone, I dunno. It’s tasty, but it’s also kind of..artifical. I had some hot and I’m drinking it cold now and while it’s good, I’m not entirely sure it’s worth a restock. The fakeness is starting to get to me.

I love this one. I will definitely restock, but not in a tin. Just a 50 g bag. But it is wonderful.

This was my cold-steeped work tea on Wednesday, to go with my pink lunchbag with matching pink salad thermos and pink bento boxes. It was a very pink day nods

I used up the last of my stash for this, planning to head out to Tealish on Sunday to pick up more, but it’s out of stock! Woe. Ah well, that just gives me an excuse to travel downtown when it is back in stock. Nom. It’s fruity and tasty…one of my friends at work has had dragon fruit before and encouraged me to try it, so I might try to get my grubby hands on some in the near future.

I forgot I had this until today when I excitedly exclaimed to Tina “OMG I’M TAKING PINK DRAGONFRUIT TO WORK TODAAAAAY”. Love this blend, will definitely be stocking up next time we’re downtown. It’s just so fruity and juicy and amazing…guh. Yum. Tart without being hibiscus-y tart and sweet and love. LOVE.

AMAZING.

Oh God this tea is good. It’s juicy and pink and DRAGONY.

No, seriously, this tea is wonderful. You can taste the berries and it’s tart without being too tart and mmmmmmm no hibiscus!

After an ahem busy morning as well as a Costco run and a long streetcar ride into the city, I was dragging along. We got to Tealish and I sleepily placed my order before slumping into a chair. That order was “Do you have Matcha? Beauty. I need a cup sweetened to hell and back. No seriously, at least two teaspoons.” She laughed and did as I asked, happily handing over my “matcha and sugar rush”. Once it finally cooled, I chugged it down. It wasn’t bad! But frankly, I wasn’t drinking it for the taste, and the promised rush was delivered. I woke up and ended up being conscious enough for an awesome afternoon out!

I was so very sad… when I could not even finish my cup of this. More than half of it went into the bin. What a waste of money, and tea :(
The girl used nearly boiling water so I’m sure the leaves were burnt… but I doubt that could be responsible for the lack of any peach flavour whatsoever! All I got was Jasmine and white. So not my cuppa tea.
The way this was prepared, I have very few nice things to say about it so I’ll stop here before I get crass! goes to brush teeth!

I had to get this today in hopes that it would make a good stand-in for the Spice and Tea Exchange coconut Oolong. Then, I had to try it pretty much as soon as I got in the door. The Tealish employee said this was her favourite tea in the universe, so that was promising!

Coconut Bongo smells incredible, and quite close to the S&TE one. Very similar both dry and once steeped, though less potently aromatic. It, thankfully, doesn’t disappoint in the taste department, either. It has the same creamy, bakey, toasted sweetness that the other version does, and a similar relationship between the coconut flavour and the green Oolong. But, it’s lighter. Both the flavouring and the body of the tea are a little lighter. This is an awesome tea and a good substitute, but I think less mind-blowing.

I had this to-go from the store today, since I’ve been thinking for a while that it sounded like an interesting idea. I asked for it with milk, and it was a tasty milky, mild chai effect. I really like cardamom and find it soothing and warming so it was a great cup to walk around town with. It’s exceedingly mellow. I think it would be nice with the addition of a litlte cinnamon, but the simplicity of the blend is pretty cool.

I liked this tea even more this time around, I really really need to stock up on it. This steep tasted like a cinnamon roll with a coconut lemon glaze, it was delicious. Usually I don’t care for cinnamon in my tea, but this was such a natural, raw cinnamon flavour, and it was perfectly balanced with the sweet and spicy. Om nom nom.

Wow! Tealish occasionally pulls a bizarre combo out of the bag and dazzles with it. Citrus and coconut, paired with the spice blend more commonly found in chai? Say whaaaat? But it was tasty! A very good black tea at the first taste, with the sweetness of the citrus, cream from the coconut, and a tingle and zip from the spices. I snagged a sample of it from Indigobloom for a second and third steep, but this may be sneaking into the collection.

aisling of tea, thanks so much for giving me some of this one! I am SO skeptical with decaf teas, I don’t think I would have tried it otherwise. But I totally forgot it was decaf while I was drinking it. It was a deliciously sweet, candy-caramel, creamy vanilla in a hefty-but-not-bitter black base. I forgot about it steeping and while it did taste a touch over-steeped, it wasn’t bitter. This would make a good vanilla stand-by, I think. I don’t have a boldly vanilla tea that I can rely on but this could be it.

I cold brewed this one overnight for iced with some sugar added. The final result was a creamier version of the tea than when brewed hot, and one where there were definitely strong notes of the actual rooibos flavour. I prefer it hot, but if people like rooibos flavour then cold brew is definitely something to try.

It is all the fault of you guys that I bought this one yesterday. I was at Whole Foods just browsing and this was there and calling to me. So of course I pull out my phone and read the reviews, and here are all of you singing the praises. Needless to say, the tea came home with me.

Sipping it this morning I can’t help but feel I’ve had this one before. It tastes identical to the Lemon Cream Rooibos from The Tea Haus, which isn’t a bad thing. I loved that tea, but found that it wasn’t one I reached for on a regular basis. I suspect that this one is going to be the same. The lemon here is delicious, and I enjoy the creaminess that comes with it. I’m not getting meringue so much as cream, but it is still yummy.

So yes, a lovely delicious tea but one that for me is unmemorable.

So, of course, this is like Forever Nuts. But… better? Dare I say it? They are very similar, but I find this version a little richer, maybe a little sweeter with the tartness diminished a bit. A lovely concept and a lovely blend! So comforting, and a good dessert stand-in.
