This was my free tea of the day since I am still Mayor of TeaGschwendner. It is creamy, rich, smooth, and has a buttery nutty flavor. I think this makes for a great tea in winter, it would warm you up and make you feel nice and cozy. Delicious, I will have to buy this one. I also think it will be great iced but would have to try it first.
Preparation
Sorry, I am Mayor of my local store on FourSquare and the promotion is that as long as I am still mayor I get s free 20oz drink Free everyday. Fun stuff. The best part is I pass it everyday go to and from the gym.
WHAT!? Cool for you…but not for me…I miss out on all these cool promotions not having anything in my rural area! LOL
Sorry TeaEqualsBliss, tell ya what if you’re ever in my neck of the woods I will take you to all the cool places.
Rachel, here are all the cool places in our neck of the woods now that TG is shuttered? Oh, the angst of being marooned in the strip-mall wasteland of suburbia!
The lack of TG does make it difficult but if we are talking all of Chicago land which normally when I have out of state visitors I do. I would go to TG in the city, Argo in the theatre district downtown, see if we can get into a tasting at CTG, Adagio in Naperville. I still have to make it to Skokie. There is a cute restaurant that serves Stash and other teas in Genoa. I wish I knew more places but most of my tea drinking goes down at my house.
First one to review this one. Yay!
This was not over the top immediately after the steep but as it cooled you got a very creamy and nutty taste in your mouth. I suspect this tea would be great iced and I will have to try it that way some time. I will say at the end of the sip there was a very unique flavor that was only detected when it cooled. I feel like there was a good memory attached to that flavor but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. I guess I will have to keep drinking it until I figure it out.
Preparation
This tea scared me a bit due to it being a blend of green and black teas, but the leaves looked pretty and smelled lovely as well, thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sharing this one with me! The color of the tea after being steeped is a nice amber/honey color…a medium brown color; it tasted like a green tea with a dash of Ceylon in there to give it a slight boldness. There was a nice mildly sweet taste to it from the floral notes and to me it seemed like there was a bit of a candied cherry taste in there as well. This is pretty good and a nice change of pace for me.
When I stop at TeaG, I always get a tea to go, iced, to try yet another tea. I tried SSD today, and it was tasty. It was sweet, light in strawberry flavor, and had a rhubarb like tartness to it. It has a caramel finish, alittle burnt at the end.
I want to try all their strawberry teas to make a final judgment, but this one is nice.
Another sample i’ve got from Gschwender here in Trier. Very malty, some similarities to taiwanese Oolongs i have tasted years ago. The advertising is true, a surprisingly complex tea, guess i have to put it on my shopping list, definitely want to explore that one more :)
Preparation
This smells like a black tea but also a little like Cocoa – then I read both the product description and Dax’s review and noticed I wasn’t going crazy! It’s supposed to smell like that apparently! Woot!
Mini Cup, again…
VERY flavorful! It’s almost like a Slightly Smokey Cocoa with a masculine flavor to it. Very different and quite good.
This is a bit more mellow than I expected but it’s still tasty. It’s more smooth than chewy and I guess I was thinking chewy. After I switch from what I expected to what it actually IS – I find that I really do like the taste and as it cools it’s almost juicy. The color is more of what I would compare to an oolong.
A nice anytime tea. A light, quiet cup. The Kenya Milima doesn’t possess too much body and the flavor is simple: a light malt with fruit in the background. There’s a slight briskness on the sides of the palate with a drying finish that lingers, while leaving the mouth clean. Overall, recommended if you’re looking for a good morning time, plalate cleansing tea.
Preparation
Not bad, another tasting sample of Gschwender which turns out o be nice. But its nothing special, a bit too bitter in the aftertaste, lacking subtle notes before. Might be worth trying more, i will add it for now to my shopping list.
Preparation
Giving it a second chance. OK it was the sink water that made it bad last time. Its grassy, smooth, just slightly oolongy – on the green side of it. I must say it tastes quite good this time. Really nice smooth taste. Very good drink when i want something plain and not sweet.
Very good rating. It’s a nice cuppa of tea.
Preparation
This might finally be one of those oolong you all brag about ;) Leaves cant be compared to those i’ve had before. These are beautiful. Long twirled in little balls.
Even this one smells slightly like the other two i had these days from TeaGschwender dragon well and kukicha. Idk how come. Maybe they all came from the same region or something. Even tho this one would be expected to come from Sumatra hehe.
I’m starting with the second steep this time. Color is quite bright yellow to greenish. Doesn’t taste like usual oolongs at all. Idk how to explain the taste. Let me try the first steeped tea. Feels very under steeped. I should have probably put more oolong in it or steep it longer. Right now i find it very undefinable.
It’s very mild. Even if it was a white tea i’d say it too mild. And i’m getting taste of what feels like chloride which i don’t like. I used water from the sink. Maybe its the bad water day. Hope so. Hope it’s not in the tea. No rating cuz im too confuzzled at the moment about this one.
