It’s a little bitter, but it gets the job done.

drank Sweet Cinnamon Spice by Tazo

Found a box of this at the store for $1.50, so I decided to buy some. It’s fairly similar to the other licorice spice teas I have. The main flavor is sweet licorice, and there’s a hint of some spices. I like teas like this, but they’re nothing special. They don’t require extra sweetener, and they’re reliable.

It tastes very nice, and is good in moderation. I just wish it were stronger.

drank Glazed Lemon Loaf by Tazo
1 tasting notes

I started drinking this to curb the sadness wrought by cutting coffee out of my life several years ago, and while it may not be genius by some standards, it holds a special place in my heart as being a gateway tea to the broader landscape.

It’s bright, creamy, and lush. It smells sweet, like a warm pan of—you guessed it—glazed lemon loaf. It mimics the real thing pretty impressively close, and I suspect this would only increase with the addition of milk and sugar. It’s smooth inoffensive, and an easy drink; not overly acidic or sharp. I try to be economical, but double up tea bags on this because I honestly love it that much.

I’ve demolished many boxes of this stuff, and while it’s not always in my stash, it is my go-to when I’m sick or want something warm and sunny, but caffeine-free.

drank Green Ginger by Tazo
768 tasting notes

I won’t rate this one since it appears to be quite old. I got it from either a swap or the tea box, so thanks to the person who included it! Hmm yeah this tastes like a very old green tea. The ginger comes in faintly at the end of the sip. Before that, it just tastes like strong, old tea. Honestly, I could probably drink this whole cup, but it’s not worth the caffeine. I’m sure when it was fresh, it was better (but it gets pretty terrible reviews, so maybe not too much better). I prefer a strong ginger, so it doesn’t sound like it would be my thing anyway. Oh well, I’ll make myself a cup of something else.

drank Butterscotch Blondie by Tazo

I didn’t love this one the first time I tried it, but this time I find it much more pleasant. The main flavors are a light butterscotch and some sweetness. It’s a bit weak compared to what I expected, but I find it pleasant. Out of the Tazo dessert flavors, I definitely prefer the lemon flavor, and the other two I find decent, but I wouldn’t seek them out again.

drank Calm by Tazo

I did pretty bad work yesterday; so something to calm my nerves a bit I guess. More over I am so sleepy that I don´t know if I can finish this mug.

Anyway, apparently another chamomile blend. Maybe in the end I will like it. Spearmint, blackberrry leaves, peppermint. That sounds good. Had to google what is safflower. Probably something for colour. Lemon balm – nice!

The brew is orange-brown. Kinda clear with bit of dust on bottom. In aroma it is herbs (no surprise)

In taste, it is quite good, I can think about anything distinctive though. Quite sweet. It is not bad, but makes me sleepy. It is probably quite working.

I liked this scent/flavor profile some years ago, but the product was discontinued. It is therefore on my list to eventually try some sort of black tea or pu aged in chenpi.

Crazy morning today! I’m working from home and fielding a bunch of different cross department type things, but also it’s officially a week from when the podcast I’ve been working on for the last few months officially launches!!

More details, and also a sneak peak for Steepster friends, here:
https://steepster.com/discuss/42133-geek-steep-a-new-tea-and-fandom-podcast

I’m drinking mostly bagged teas this morning – in part because of the September Sipdown prompt but also because they’re fast and easy in a very chaotic morning of managing all these different things! Plus, this is honestly the best butterscotch flavour that I’ve ever had in any tea and while I’m sometimes annoyed that this delicious flavour is on a bagged tea instead of something loose leaf, today I’m very appreciative of having such a delicious bagged option!

Inkling

Love the concept of your podcast, Ros! Looking forward to tuning in. :)

Aww, thank you! :)

Last TOTD from yesterday – just needed something easy to brew and sweet/rich. I was so tapped out by the end of the day…

This is really good; it starts off with a sort of bakey commercial pastry note and hint of cinnamon; reminds me a bit of “Two Bite” Cinnamon Rolls from the same company that does the brownies. They have such a distinct pastry note, and this matches my mental recollection of it to a tee. The rest is very sweet butterscotch – dense but still buttery/creamy. Coats the whole mouth, and lingers forever. I’m a sucker for it.

Still, easily, the best butterscotch flavoured tea that I’ve ever had.

Finally just caved and brought a handful of these tea bags home with me on Friday, from the office cafeteria. No one was drinking this – and I kind of get it because we literally work for a tea company and there is never ending free, loose leaf tea in the lunch room for people to have. Still, I think that for a tea bag this tastes amazing so I just made sure that they were going somewhere where they’d be appreciated…

My giant tea stash.

Flavors: Apple Skins, Brown Sugar, Butterscotch

Evol Ving Ness

aha, so they are available in Canada!

Roswell Strange

They may not be – the coworker who left these in our lunch room got them during a trip to Chicago…

Evol Ving Ness

oooh, I misunderstood. :(

Who knows—I might stumble upon them somewhere, and it’s not like I need more tea.

Kittenna

@Evol – yeah, I really want to try it too. Haven’t looked for them, though.

Yes, I revisited this tea at work during the week. Yes it was still absolutely amazing. Sure, it’s bagged tea – but it’s actually really good bagged tea. Super sweet and rich, but it perfectly captures exactly what a Butterscotch Blondie, in my head anyway, should taste like. Which is incredible.

Mastress Alita

I’ll have to grab this one, I know my grocery store has all the Tazo dessert teas. I actually love the Lemon Loaf one, and like that it’s an herbal so I can have it before bed.

Daylon R Thomas

I 2nd the Lemon Loaf one. It also does not bug me as much since it green rooibos tend to be small anyway.

Kittenna

These dessert teas are really intriguing me. Will have to, at some point, swap with someone who owns them so I don’t have to buy them all myself! Hahaha.

Roswell Strange

I also liked the Lemon Loaf, though I found it pretty sweet. The Vanilla Macaron was just terrible, IMO, though…

Recently had the chance to try this Tazo tea, and the two other teas from this collection as well. This was my favourite of the three, by a significant amount. To preface, I have been looking for the perfect sweet, rich caramel tea for the last few months and have simply not found one I have enjoyed. This, however…

It’s technically butterscotch, but it delivers that INTENSE creamy, over the top, sweet richness that I’ve been longing for in exactly the way I would want a caramel tea to convey. It’s just super extra – flavourful, sugary sweet butterscotch with buttery pastry undertones and hints of cinnamon. I honestly don’t know how you could better convey that sort of Butterscotch Blondie profile!?

I’m even more impressed because it’s a bagged tea (by Tazo, no less) that has finally sated that deep craving I’ve been holding on to for literal months.

I would 100% drink this tea again – and I may in fact pilfer some more of the teabags from our office cafeteria and hide them in one of my desk drawers at work…

Evol Ving Ness

Is this available in Canada, ie. aside from your office caf?

Roswell Strange

I’m not sure – I think we originally got it because a coworker brought it back from a recent trip to Chicago? So maybe just exclusive to the US?

Frolic

I agree 100% on the yummyness of this tea. I had it recently at my girlfriend’s. I’m normally a bit dubious of commercial tea bags but I adored this and would consider actually buying it if I see it in a store.

drank Glazed Lemon Loaf by Tazo
10238 tasting notes

Recently had the chance to try this and the two other teas from this Tazo collection.

I found that, of the three, this was the one I felt most neutral towards; I didn’t hate it or love it. Now, it’s quite sweet, but because of the “glazed” in the name, and the pictures on the tea box showing a slice of lemon loaf with a THICK layer of sugar glaze I at least knew to expect that it would taste very sweet and thusly I wasn’t upset about the intensity of the sweetness.

The lemon was very bright, and just a little creamy. It worked quite brilliantly with the green rooibos base, actually. I enjoyed this aspect of the cup the most. The most striking thing about the whole brew though was how shockingly accurate they were able to get the “Lemon Poppyseed Cake/Loaf” flavour – like I found it VIVIDLY reminiscent of the real deal! I also think it’s accurate enough that you could blind guess the inspiration for what you were drinking. Add on to that the fact that it’s natural flavouring in the blend and not artificial flavouring and, well, it’s very impressive!

So, especially for a tea bag, I think this is a very well put together blend – but ultimately it’s just a touch too sweet for me (in terms of lemon teas; that’s not why I typically drink lemon teas, personally) so not completely my jam. I’m still very impressed by it though!

I actually sampled this for the first time last month when I had to go up to Boise to take care of some family things, so there was just no way I could write a note for it then. Decided to make another pot of it tonight for my nightly herbal. I did learn last time that like many grocery store herbals a single bag per cup comes out just a bit too weak in flavor for me, so I prepared this one with a ratio of two bags per cup of water (and my dobin teapot holds two cups of water, so four bags in this case).

The tea is a lovely lemony yellow and smells wonderful, very sweet with a strong lemon aroma. I really like this one; it has a nice lemon flavor that doesn’t have any of the “cleaner” flavors I find so often in lemon teas using flavoring, and the citrus comes off with a very juicy appeal. It has a sweetness with a slight vanilla note, and a bit of a lemon zest tart zing toward the end of the sip that I quite like. I feel like I pick up just a hint of the ginger in the aftertaste; it isn’t prevalent in the flavor on the sip, but I feel a small warmth on the back of my tongue after the swallow. And to my fellow chamomile haters: it is listed in the ingredients, and I don’t taste it at all. Another plus.

I imagine I’ll go through this box fairly quickly (which is good, since boxed teas are taking up a lot of cupboard space), but on the flipside I’ll probably restock this one at some point, too.

Thank you Derk for variety of tea bags, as well for loose leaf.

I just came home from University, so I really wanted something simple – as well I am having a terrible headache. I took this, as it is a green tea with mint so I thought it could work together.

Honestly I am disappointed. The tea is having brown-green colour, without any dust, which is good. Smell is artificial lemon, and taste is not better. Maybe bit of cardboard. Something does not work as I have expected. More over, I think there is much more lemograss than actual tea, so it is not so good.

Well, at least I tried something new. And that is always nice.

Heh, this was a brand new box. I haven’t tried it yet. I hope you drank something better after this.

Martin Bednář

I wonder what was wrong, if just bad batch (as others used to like it), or just not my cup of tea. Yes, I certainly had something better afterwards.

derk

I had a cup of this today. I think the paper bag is what is making the tea taste like cardboard.

I got this a little while ago when I was super burned out on spiced and heavy black teas. I’ve made a pot of it before, but didn’t log it for whatever reason. Anyway, I made it again tonight.

The bag smells more like lime and peppermint than cucumber. As it steeps, the scent gets more minty and the water turns light tan. The flavor is mostly peppermint, with tart lime notes and I guess what’s supposed to be cucumber? I can’t really pick it out. I was hoping for something more refreshing and true to cucumber flavor. I suppose I will have to spend the money and get Tea Forte’s version, which is amazing.

I absolutely adore this flavorful concentrate. What a treat! The tea is spicy and sweet and delicious. It’s fiery and strangely mellow all at once. Yum!

I have made Earl Grey tea myself before, so I decided to pick some up from the store and give it a go. I made it similarly to how I have been making the oolong tea that I really enjoy. I let it cool down a bit, and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of this tea. It had a bit of a fruity taste, but it was not too strong. It was a light flavor. I would definitely be interested in making this tea again. I think next time I might try adding milk to it, because I was reading some reviews and apparently it is very popular to be enjoyed this way.
