I’m such a dork. Had this in the morning and it tasted good today when my previous review was not too favorable. I’m pretty sure that my tea reviews might match my emotional state/hormones on that particular day, which is not surprising since I’m a female, LOL. It is what it is :)
I added a few cardamom pods to the mix, and it came out meh. “Meh.” I think this is more the fault of the additional cardamom than the actual tea itself.
Cardamom prices are shooting up! Just for your random fact of the day.
That’s bad news about cardamon prices. I had an excellent pot of cardamon tea at my favourite Afghan restaurant last week.
It probably does. I was reading a book on Sikkim yesterday, and it seems they grow cardamom right next to their excellent tea plantations. Perhaps we can buy the two together and save! Let’s club together and buy, say, 2 tonnes of each! Last time I bought Sikkim I bought 11kgs and that only lasted me about a year.
This is a nice, drinkable oolong on the ‘caramelized’ side of the flavor spectrum rather than the grassy. It reminds me strongly of the flavor mix of caramel/sweet one finds in some of the “sow mee white tea” I’ve bought in cans in Chinatown and from websites, and yet this is an oolong. The grassy notes come out at the end, when the tea is cooler and after swallowing. For the price, this tea was a bargain and I would order it again if putting in an order from this company. (I had originally only ordered it to make the shipping minimum and it turned out to be my second favorite in that whole order!)
Preparation
ehh, not so good. I had regular stash earl grey yesterday but ran out. The decaf version really can’t compare. The difference in flavor is obvious and I think I’ll only resort to this when I absolutely have to.
Preparation
Two things get me about this bagged tea. The color and the taste.
It doesn’t have a strong aroma, but it’s fascinating to watch it steep. I pour the hot water over the bag quickly, then watch as the deep ruby red color pours out of the corners of the bag into the clear water, filling the bottom of the cup like a crime scene. When it stops, a quick swish of the bag disperses the infusion evenly before removing the bag. That first steep is such a pretty shade of dark rose.
The taste is good. Not too heavy on the hibiscus, you can definitely taste the raspberry and it does taste “real”. There’s a little bit of a grassy after-note, but this is a decent cuppa raspberry tea.
I highly recommend a brand of cookie called “Cougar Mountain”, made here in the Pacific NW USA. The specific cookie that marries perfectly with this tea is their soft and chewy Lemon Snickerdoodles. The light lemon cookie balances the strong raspberry beautifully. Nom Nom.
I just bought this tea…fig I would try it out being that green tea is my fav and i also enjoy white. Its tasty and with a little bit of agave syrup it tastes sweet enough
I like this. I wouldn’t call it thirst-quenching, as it definitely has the bit of pucker power that pomegranate Anything does. I certainly can’t taste any chamomile or green tea at all. It’s quite fruity and juicy, and actually makes a very good iced tea. I’m having it hot tonight, though. It doesn’t need any sweetener as it hits the edge between sweet and tart. Not bad to unwind with, and another bagged tea out of the drawer. I can taste the hibiscus that gave it that immediate rosy ruby color, and the raspberry balances the pom quite evenly.
EDITED: I take that back. I’m on a second steep which still tastes good, if not as dark rose colored as the first. I can faintly taste the green tea as a high note when I sip against my upper palate. Not bad. Just a side note.
Have you tried it iced? I think it’d be very thirst quenching iced:) Hot liquids of any kind aren’t very thirst quenching for me.
the vanilla is not as strong as I’d like, but the spices are fairly balanced (I don’t like my chai too spicy.) Most vanilla chai I’ve had was from a powdered mix which comes out creamy because of the milk. I will experiment with steeping time and milk/water ratios. I think this could make a good vanilla chai latte eventually (but may need to add a drop of vanilla extract).
Preparation
I mixed my last packet of this into my vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast and mixed with 8-9 oz 1% milk – wish I’d thought to before! The vanilla and blueberry blend nicely together, and there’s just a hint of green tea in the color and flavor.
Preparation
I added this to a Steaz Green Tea with Lemon – Unsweetened to make it drinkable (the “tea” tasted like lemon water!"). It did render it drinkable, but I have no idea why I liked this powder so much the first time. It tastes kinda fake and a bit chalky, with the occasional floatie.
Preparation
actually, they are more like “sinkies” since they are lodged in the bottom of my mug. The powder dissolves better when mixed with plain water- I guess my brew is oversaturated since I used green tea. The lemon is a nice addition though to balance/tame the blueberry. I actually like this combo better than either one plain. I may have to add a few point back to the powder, since it is at least versatile…
Tried mixing with sodium free club soda – in short it didn’t work. It fizzed like crazy, the tea didn’t dissolve well at all, and it tasted like salty seaweed water. What was I thinking? I dumped it out. Next time I’ll try making a strong cup in 5-6 oz water, then add a splash or two of club soda for a hint of sparkle. Maybe I’ll add a drop of agave if it needs sweetener to balance the club soda.
These are teabag-sized packets of powdered sencha green tea (not instant) with natural blueberry flavor. I bought them on a whim today at the grocery store on closeout sale, thinking they’d be a good substitute for those instant drink packets that can be dissolved in bottle of water (my hubby uses them sometimes).
It is a fine green powder, similar to matcha. The tea dissolves pretty well (stirred into a cup of cold filtered water with a few cubes of ice) with only a bit of reside. It comes out a murky olivey green. At least it looks natural instead of dayglo artificial green! The blueberry scent is strong, and the flavor is present but balanced. It does not overpower the green tea completely, but gives it a nice natural sweetness. (There is also maltodextrin in here which may be providing some sweetness?) I slurped this down pretty quick and thought about making a second glass. It’s a quick way to make refreshing iced tea without brewing/cooling/flavoring your own.
I do wish the bags were thinner and maybe held enough for 16oz worth of tea, so they could easily be used in a water bottle or reusable thermos. Oh well, using two (and opening/pouring carefully) wouldn’t be that hard.
The box says: after mixing, refrigerate and consume within 12 hours. So I guess I won’t be making a whole pitcher at once. Also it directs one to the Stash website for green tea ice cream and smoothie recipes. Cool! This would be great in a fruit smoothie.
Preparation
Reminds of Apple Cider, just not as sweet, which is always a good thing. A little too much Hibiscus however, and then cinnamon, while Im not a huge fan, is just subtle enough to make me want to have another cup or two. Great color to it as well, and tastes great by itself, truly a lone warrior.
Ack! No good tea at work! I forgot to bring in some teas. This has been sitting at work for sometime, forgotten. And for good reasons. It’s gross. I feel like I need to put some spiced rum in it to kill the spicy metallic taste of bad green tea. That’s not a good sign if I feel like I need to add something to my tea in order to make it taste better. Big thumbs down to this. But I need some tea this morning, and this is all I got. Thinking of running out to grab a Tea’s Tea.
