Revolution Tea

It’s steeping right now. It smells like mulch. I took it out of the silken bag and put it in my infuser instead, since their lavender tea opens up so much, but this looks mostly like tea sweepings. Will add more when I taste it.

The least favorite of The Revolution tea brand

I got a Revolution sampler set and I’ve been saving this particular tea for just the right moment. Today I find myself tired and needing a kick of caffeine and also strangely anxious. Earl Grey + Lavender to the rescue! I love the effect of the scent of lavender on my nervous system, I’m hoping that works in tea as well.

This tea smells amazing right out of the box. Yum! I’m already wishing I had more than one bag. When steeped the tea smells more of earl grey than lavender. I only see one little purple flower through the mesh – hopefully there are more inside the bag!

MMMM… this tastes amazing. It’s a little hot, but I’m sipping it anyway. The earl grey is mild and I can taste the subtle floral of the lavender. I’m glad this is a subtle tea, I don’t feel like getting smacked across the face with flavor this morning.

I have 10 more delicious minutes to enjoy this tea and steepster before my students come in. It’s crazy hair day at school today and this first grade teacher has cotton-candy colored hair to celebrate! Oh goodness, they just peeked in the window and saw my crazy hair. So much for a peaceful tea time, hahaha, now they are all crowding around to look.

This tea has a definite calming effect. I don’t know if it’s the slight smell of lavender affecting me or if it’s the brew, but I’ll take it. This is the first Revolution tea where I felt that I would be making a purchase in the future. I’m a big fan of this wonderful tea! It was the perfect first cuppa for me today. <3

I have to agree with the other person who said it is a plain old tea… this about sums it up. I was disappointed with this tea after loving Revolution’s tropical green. This is… okay. Giving me some caffeine, which is much needed. My extra tea drinking has been leading to me staying up much later than usual — I need to have a cut-off point in the early afternoon, but for now at work in the morning I need a strong black tea.

I came back to this tea after letting it cool down a bit and found the flavor to be much improved. It’s still plain old black tea, though! Good in a pinch, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it. If you enjoy mild English breakfasts give it a go.

Yum! I was pleasantly surprised with this tea. The dragonwell and the fruit balance each other out nicely. I loved the packaging too (I got this in a sample pack).

I have to be blatantly honest and say that I don’t usually like green tea, except that my brother has been on me lately to start drinking it because it’s supposedly so good for you. I stumbled across this while I was on the hunt for groceries and thought I might give it a try. After all, chocolate is definitely a good incentive to get me to drink something.

But I have to admit, I don’t really taste the chocolate in this tea. I can smell it faintly in the dry mix, but that’s it. Surprisingly, I actually like this tea despite that fact. I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s the combination of the citrus with the green tea that makes it easier for me to drink. But don’t let that fool you into thinking I’m only tolerating the flavor. It’s a soothing fix in the middle of the work day when I just need an easy pick-me-up and my other teas will take too long to brew.

I’ll have to go somewhere else for my chocolate fix though. Sad day. =(

Backlog:

A very pleasant green tea. It has a fresh, lush flavor … leafy, vegetative, crisp, and clean. The tea becomes smoother as you drink it … it starts out very vegetative, and by mid-cup, I noticed that the flavors became smoother as if they were melding together and becoming more unified. Sweet and agreeable.

A coworker gave me this yesterday, the tea she always drinks when she goes to PF Chang. It came in a tiny little cardboard box! Very cute package design.

The tea is quite good – the peach & apricot really come through. I’m not getting the smokey taste that the package and other people mention, but that’s all right. I’m not sure what effect the safflower & marigold have on it – I’m not sure that I’ve had a tea with them in it before.

I would definitely drink this again. I had it with 2 packets of splenda. The sweet definitely brings out the fruit.

My one gripe, but it’s not specific to this tea, happens with a lot of teabags… that moment when you add the water to the cup and the string and tag get pulled into the cup… grrr!

Backlog:

I enjoyed this tisane. I like the combination of rooibos and honeybush – I think that these two herbs work very well together to bring out the best in each other. The caramel is sweet here but not overdone.

This is one of my favorite teas. The tea base is high quality, a dry and astringent flavor, perhaps from the darjeeling and shui xian combination, and a light roasted flavor from the shui xian as well. The lavender doesn’t dominate but is noticeable, and the earl is just “grey” enough.
