Welcome to day 5 of little terri’s Sipdown Extravaganza!
I have to start the day by issuing a retraction: yesterday I logged sipdown #28 as Yu Lu Yan Cha. This morning I was looking through my files, & realized that I still have some Yu Lu in one of the Verdant TOMC files, so no sipdown there. Yet.

So Sipdown #28 is this Anniversary Blend. Thank you Spencer!
I love my unblended black teas, but I also enjoy a good blend, & this one is particularly nice because it includes Jin Jun Mei, which I am in love with. Sweet with a nice cocoa powder base & a malty middle, what more could I ask for this morning?

might need to try this some day…

A few days ago I was musing on reading leaves, & commented that the leaves in my cup formed the shape of a seagull, & that a bird symbolizes the arrival of a message or package. Wouldn’t ya know, that very day I received my tea trade from Spencer!. Also, that very same day, the box Sil had sent to me over a month ago, which we were both mourning the loss of & were convinced that it was lost, was returned to her. So maybe I have a future reading tea leaves? :D

I’d just like to say that Spencer is an interesting dude! I posted a pic of the box he sent on my FB https://www.facebook.com/terri.langerak

And I am really enjoying this tea! The combination of Jin Jun Mei (which I love), with ceylon (which I’m not entirely crazy about, but will drink, & besides, it’s not too prominent here), & Malty Assam? Yeah, Baby, oh yeah! Thanks, Spencer! This is my first tea from Pete’s, & I’ll definitely be looking to grab more of this one!

IF you like lapsang blends I can send you a sample of the Peet’s Scottish Breakfast.

Is peet’s something we can get in US and/or canada? I want tea! i’m itching to buy things teeerrriiiiiii…esp since i found mariage freres and fortnum and mason here in toronto.

MissB

I swear there used to be a storefront Peet’s in Vancouver, however I’m struggling to find it now. You can order from their website though, and it’s USPS shipping. http://www.peets.com/tea.html

TeaBrat

@Sil – Peet’s is a US coffee/tea chain, I don’t think they have any stores in canada but I could be wrong

Amy, I would love that!
This anniversary blend is very tasty, IMO, especially if you enjoy Jin Jun Mei, which I do.
Sil…looks like it may be time for us to split orders again…:)

Nice. Like Adagio’s Foxtrot minus the alto notes of the rooibos. Thanks to Spencer for my first Peet’s taste test.

Its finally cold enough for me to wear tights! And a non summer hat! And a cape! So I have done all of those things, and stopped by the local Peets on my lunch break to get a cuppa.
This is what I came away with. You know how in coffee shops, when you ask for tea, you can sometimes see the wheels just grind to a halt, while the poor barista frantically thinks “tea? tea?! Do we serve that?!?!”. Well, I had such a barista today, who undoubtedly could have walked me fearlessly through the land of coffee beverages, but was less secure with tea. So to make it simple, I got this Earl Grey.
I’m not impressed. Its weak, and unmemorable, and even the often too bitter for me bergamot is noticeably lackluster. Oh well, was worth a shot.

This morning’s pot of tea. I have no idea why I went for this over the Winter Solstice that I intended to make.

This was the big morning pot of tea, enjoyable even when it got cold.

Unclear just how much tea I drank last night, but I realized I never logged any of it. Oh well, this is the first cup of the morning!

Took the leaves from the previously-steeped 4-cup pot of tea and brewed a single cup with them.

It is surprising how well this accompanies chips, salsa, and cheese.

gmathis

Sounds like a perfect combo.

The smokiness with the spiciness was great!

Normally, I share a pot of this with several of my coworkers. Today, I am in the office before them…and I think I will be drinking a pot of it by myself.

Found that I somehow had a small container of this in my tea cupboard. Currently drinking with Thanksgiving leftovers.

Finished the last of this. While it was good, I do not think I shall miss it.

Chilled, first thing in the morning, because I didn’t want to drink it last night.
