This is a surprisingly good-quality green for a bagged tea, but then Numi is generally a cut above the normal teabag manufacturers. The tea has a green, grassy flavour with some interestingly savory, almost smokey notes on the end of each sip. I’m not picking up any bitterness though I did steep this pretty conservatively. Not bad at all.
Preparation
This tea is pretty mild compared to some of the Breakfast teas I’ve tried and I’m not really picking out the malty Assam or the Darjeeling or Keemun so I’ll take their word for it that they’re in there.
But yeah, it’s gets a pretty ‘meh’ rating from me.
Preparation
This was one of the prettier tea balls I’ve tried, with a delicate string of several jasmine flowers. The first steeping had more body than I would expect from a white tea. On first taste, I got caramel-y notes. As the label described, there was a slight sweet taste lingering on the tip of my tongue. Not as much floral taste/smell as I was expecting from “Jasmine Lovers.” At the end of the day: tasty, kind of interesting.
Preparation
First of all I don’t drink very much green tea. That being said I really like this tea. This tea is mellow and nutty tasting. I like Adagio’s much better, but I bought this for use in a hotel room during vacation.
Preparation
I hope to try more green teas in the future, but as I said I don’t drink much green as I prefer assam and yunnan tea. My wife likes green and this was her purchase. So, when I post a tasting note for green tea you have to take it with a grain of salt as my knowledge of green is very limited. As I drink more green teas I’m sure my tastes will change.
Do you remember that chocolate drink – a Yoohoo (do those still exist)?! Anyways, that is what this tastes like… of course I haven’t had a Yoohoo in YEARS, so I may be off, but that is what first pops in my head. Or maybe like Swiss Miss hot chocolate made with only water and no milk, and watered down a bit more. I like this, it’s different though because it is watery and I expected that thicker puerh feel. The water looks like that of black tea, a nice honey color. The taste is smooth and you get more of a sweet coco powder taste than anything else. I am tempted to try this next time with a shot of cream =)~
Hehehehe Whole Foods did indeed have this in stock…along with all the other Numi puerh blends! I picked up this one and the Chocolate Puerh one, but I decided to try what I knew I would probably already like. Now, right off the bat I was skeptical about trying a puerh in a bag; I was afraid it would be very bland. Well, to my surprise it tasted great! It has that earthy/woodsy taste that was very smooth and pleasing. My only wish is that it was stronger, but I assume that it is not as strong due to have not been aged very long? But hey, that’s ok! I still get a nice bagged puerh to take to work with me and that makes me happy :-)
Preparation
This may be a tea bag, but its a very good tea bag. It reminds me of Rishi’s Chinese Breakfast. It does have the yunnan taste and the raisiny sugar smell down exactly. While it does miss some of the notes of Rishi, it is an excellent breakfast tea. The tea is brisk and robust and very tasty.
Preparation
This is a nice bagged tea. It has that wonderful yunnan taste and is brisk, bold, and peppery. The tea is organic which is a plus and has that raisiny sugar smell that I get from a yunnan. I wish I could get caramel but alas you just can’t have everything. Still a great tea.
Preparation
Now I’m being surprised by a tea bag. This is really a very good yunnan tea. It has that raisiny sugar smell and is brisk and robust. I wouldn’t put this tea on the level of a Rishi or LeafSpa yunnan, but it is really good. I bought this to take on vacation and decided to try one. I found a very good price at T.J.Maxx.
Preparation
I didn’t think I’d be able to, but I can actually taste the differences in this brew from a standard mint tea. The tisane doesn’t have nearly as much of the tongue-numbing menthol taste as peppermint tea has for instance. It has a fuller, sweeter flavour with a bit of a green taste.
I suppose not all mint teas are created equal after all. ;)
Preparation
While I wasn’t particularly enthused about drinking this tea again, it came in one of those assorted boxes and I wanted something that tasted vaguely like a black tea without the caffeine hit. It’s still as whimpy as I remember it, even though it was steeped longer and I added milk. I can maybe pick up the vanilla flavour this time around but it’s rather weak and it still has that odd chemical scent. So yeah, it’s just as mediocre now as it was a year ago.
Preparation
This was included as part of a mixed box so thankfully I don’t have any more – otherwise I’d be pretty pissed if I just spent money on a whole box of this tea.
The tea has a faintly sweet vanilla smell, but I noticed that it also has this weird chemical odor to it. I wonder if that was left behind by the decaffeination process? The taste isn’t much an improvement. It’s a thin, weak brew (though admittedly I didn’t steep it as along as I could have) and what little flavour that is there is artificial and harsh-tasting. Next time I’ll pass on this one.
Preparation
This has become one of my favourite go-to bagged black blends. The four different types of tea are well balanced which makes the flavour well rounded and satisfying. Not the most sophisticated or interesting blend out there, but it satisfies a morning tea craving extremely well.
Preparation
In general, I like Numi Tea. I think they have decent quality, that tastes good, and their packaging is appealing (yes, I do judge books by their covers).
This tea is average. But I can’t say for sure, because my water is very metallic right now, and everything tastes like a hose. That doesn’t help delicate flavors one bit. I’m going to give this tea the benefit of doubt and give it a halfway decent review.
Preparation
This tea is exactly what it says it is: chamomile and lemon myrtle. It smells like them and it tastes like them. The chamomile isn’t too kick-you-in-the-arse strong or bitter and it makes up the main body of the tea. There’s just enough lemon myrtle to give the tea a lemony, ever-so-slightly spicy flavour without taking away from the chamomile.
Preparation
after the disappointing floral taste in the “oasis” green tea floral blend, this conventional tea bag looking tea has a nice kick of jasmine. good thing i do love jasmine tea although i was a bit disappointed with the overpowering of the more earthy flavors of the green tea…
all in all though a nice afternoon booster.
First reaction – “Ahh Gross!” The two flavors don’t go well together. Few points for mint. End of story.
Preparation
With four different black teas within, I expected this to be much stronger. I expect black teas to have tons of flavor. Maybe the four different teas cancel each other out and you don’t really get to appreciate each one individually. Not a tea I’d seek out in the future but it was nice to try in my Numi sampler!
ETA: And I always leave the tea bag in until I’m completely finished drinking, so it’s not like I took the tea bag out after two seconds!
