mmm thanks cavo! Having a small cup of this one today and the rest is going into my experiments with dinner tonight. For whatever reason, cooking with smoky teas seems to be what i like to do. Since this is smokey but not overpowering, I’m mixing this one up with a bit of spice! :) I’m glad i have a bit more of this left to have a real cup of later!
Do let us know what you end up cooking! Since I just got this tea and won’t be able to drink it all, I’d love to try some recipes with it.
omg – only reason we have it actually is because costco carries it LOL I made two versions tonight – 1 with lemon dill spices along with the tea and the other with habenaro and roasted garlic spices. We preferred the spicy one but both were good.
Do you just sprinkle the tea leaves in, or make the tea and add it as a liquid? That’s the part I’m not sure about… :) I should put maple syrup on my list for my next Costco trip.
OMG – i’ve done both but i prefer it as a tea – marinate versus a rub. So i brew the tea up – slightly stronger than i would for a cup of tea, marinate it along with herbs and spices for about 30 mins and then we grill it/fry it/bake it :)
soooo this is a bit of a cheating sipdown. cavocorax was kind enough to send some of this my way since i really want to try more of Murchie’s teas because they’re canadian. i can’t drink this one. there’s a floral note in here that makes me feel like i went and shoved my face in a garden full of pink and white peonies.
Appreciate the share a great deal cavo! just not for me…so i’m totally foisting this on to terri lol
hmmm figured i really should try and start some of the other samples that Cavo sent me so i pulled this one out as well. I think the jury’s still out on this one largely because i um might have accidentally steeped it for like 7 mins. Proooooobably not a good thing for the tea lol it’s a little on the bitter side…so i’ll chalk that one up to me. :)
Good morning Steepster!
I’ve been busy lately, my BF and I went to Tahoe and Sierraville over the weekend to celebrate his birthday, and last night we were doing more celebrating! Aside from that I’ve been busy looking for volunteer work and a job… sigh
Anyway this tea is a sipdown and the last of a few things I bought at Murchie’s last year in Victoria. It isn’t a bad black cuppa tea that’s good for the cold and foggy weather we’re having this morning. It just isn’t one of my favorites… tastes a bit like dirt in my opinion. Obviously I’m not too upset that it’s gone…lol!
Preparation
This was the 2nd sample tea box I purchased from Murchie’s, alas I really wish I had bought them all!
I am not quite as fond of this as I was the diamond jubilee. There is a fair amount of keemun in this blend and a bit of bitterness. It is a very strong and robust tea which makes it good for the Prince’s namesake. I don’t taste the darjeeling in here at all.
I ended up adding some almond milk and a touch of sugar. I usually don’t dd sugar to teas unless they really need it, and this one did IMO. Not destined to be a favorite but I will probably finish off the box I have (only 10 teabags).
Preparation
Sadly I’m all out of this – a sample box I got at Murchie’s in Victoria over the summer. Tea was one of the highlights of my trip! I doubt I will order more since shipping is $10 to the States. Nice with a touch of soymilk but doesn’t need sugar, IMO. Highly enjoyable morning tea.
Preparation
Amy, I might be willing to do a trade or something with you for it, since Murchies is literally less than 15 minute walk from where I live.
Tea of the morning here, I had a fabulous weekend with my Sweetie but now it’s back to real life…
This is a really great blend of black teas esp. for a teabag! I accidentally oversteeped it but it still seems good to me. It reminds me of my lovely vacation in Victoria B.C. Hopefully I will go back there someday. See previous notes for more details.
Preparation
Just a cup I am having in hopes that it will perk me up. You know you’re middle aged when the idea of going to bed early on a Friday night is much more appealing than going out to a party! :)
My partying days ended at the ripe old age of 24, almost 30 years ago, but I partied enough before that to cover the rest of my life. At 54 I feel happier, healthier, & more fulfilled than ever. Nothing wrong with a good night sleep, Amy. Nothing wrong with Middle age either! :)
One of two tea samplers I picked up at Murchie’s in Victoria. It’s a small chain only located on the west coast of Canada in Vancouver and Victoria. This note is for the teabag version of this tea.
I was pleasantly surprised by this tea blend. It has very nice flavors, especially for a teabag. Quite lacking in bitterness and astringency so it can be easily consumed plain. My cup brewed up to be a dark brownish red.
I would say the yunnan is the predominate flavor here and lends a nice rich mellowness to the blend. I’m also picking up a bit of fruitness from the ceylon and darjeeling. The assam is pretty mellow here and has a faint maltiness. Good with vanilla flavored soymilk, but equally good plain. I really liked this blend and now I’m wishing I had picked up a few more to try because shipping to the US is $9.95! oh well.
Preparation
Oh my picked up a small amount of this when I went shopping today.
Smells like coconut banana cream pie.
Made this like a latte with a mix of unsweetened coconut milk and skim milk and sweetened with a bit of agave.
A super nice dessert tea with a hint of banana and coconut.
Nothing too special about this tea but it’s sitting nice this morning.
I added ALL MY TEAS to my cupboard, even the two I can’t drink (Butiki one with cilantro that I’m sending to a friend, and S’mores, which she can’t have either) :-O so, 47 + 1 unidentifiable tea because I’m a mess. It’s destined for the cold-brew jug. :P
Preparation
Let me know if you want to get above 50 teas as I have a few I can send your way! Nummy ones like H&S Florence, Boston and Vanilla Comoro!
Hahha. I’m trying to embrace that I will be Ontario people! I’ve been chatting a lot more with Sil, Kittenna and NxtDoor. If you were on facebook (you fiend) you could be in our tea group.
