I woke up several hours before I needed to get ready for work today feeling completely rested, which was very strange. I swear, that never happens. It’s nice though; it gave me time to enjoy some TV, and to make a few glasses of tea – including this one.

I’ve been using this matcha for matcha soda, but I decided today to try it in cold milk instead. It’s not a flavour I would automatically associate with milk but I figured it’d make for an interesting enough drink, and I recalled that Keychange had tried it that way and not hated it – so why not?

Honestly; it was far from bad. The watermelon came through and there wasn’t any negative juxtaposition between it and the milk, which is always a concern pairing fruit and milk together. It was pretty candy like, honestly. Then again, this is also candy like as tea soda too.

I think, maybe, I prefer it in the soda form? However I’d drink it in milk again if I was looking the shake things up in my “matcha routine” – mostly what I have in cold milk are the dessert flavours.

Surprisingly good.

yeah, I found this to be far from bad as well. Nothing really compels me to buy more, but it really was entirely inoffensive.

Compliments of aisling of tea who sent a fair bit of this. Enough so that I’ll be able to pass some to Keychange and have already shared some with VariaTEA! Spread the matcha love!

This one smells the best, of all the match she sent. I didn’t think it’d work well in milk though, so I made it up into a tea soda last night when I got home. The “recipe” was .5 tsp. of matcha dissolved into an ounce of hot water, a can of club soda, and a pinch of sugar.

Taste wise I thought this was very tasty, and definitely quite flavourful. It did seem like a bit more of an artificial/candy watermelon flavour – but was still really enjoyable to me nonetheless. I look forward to drinking it again!

keychange

Woohoo for sharing matcha love! also, I bet it’d be fantastic in milk. Mmm watermelon milk.

Daddyselephant

This was one of my favourites.

VariaTEA

I plan to get club soda to try plum matcha as a tea soda given plum milk sounds weird. I also have more eggnog matcha which I plan to try as a tea soda.

VariaTEA

Wait, I am dumb. I own a soda stream. I can just make the club soda :P

Roswell Strange

Plum milk does sound weird. Then again, eggnog matcha soda sounds just as weird, but I liked that one…

Another sample from the Here’s Hoping TTB.
I’m probably using the wrong heading for this, as the label says “White Matcha Sample 3”. But I don’t care. There is no entry to match the label, & since this is from Red Leaf, this will be good enough.

I don’t know if this is stale, or what. When I opened it, it smelled like a jar of lipton instant ice tea. I treated it like I treat regular Matcha, whipping it into a foamy cup in my Matcha bowl, & it was terrible, LOL. At least, I didn’t care for it at all. Now I know. ;p

Indigobloom

I had a white matcha, it was nassssssty. Ended up giving it away to poor Kittenna :P

I continue my initial exploration of Matcha, courtesy of Lala.

This is a combination I would never have thought to try, but since Lala wanted to expose me to a wide variety of matcha experiences I felt compelled to follow her advice on the preparation, and I’m glad I did. I followed the instructions from the Red Leaf Tea site for preparation.

I cheated a bit and tried the tea before adding milk. I loved the initial aroma, and the flavor was nice, but what jumped out at me was that it was extremely sweet. The sweetener dominated the experience.

After adding the hot milk, I again really loved the aroma. I was surprised by how well the milk and green tea worked together; I didn’t think I would like it. Unfortunately, it was just way too sweet for me (I drink my coffee lattes without sweetener, and normally only sweeten flavored tea – never green tea). Bottom line: I think I would have really enjoyed this if it had about 1/4 as much sweetener as was actually there, but I found it difficult to force myself to drink the whole thing. Instead I found myself just enjoying the fine aroma.

No formal rating since I’m a matcha beginner. I should also add that I’ve only tried black tea with milk a few times and didn’t care for it.

2 hrs later: I put the last two ounces in the refrigerator and tried it cold. I liked it better; didn’t taste excessively sweet. Still, didn’t do it for me.
