Freakin long day today and I had this with me to keep me alive :)
Once again, thank you QueenOfTarts for your very generous sample of this!
I woke up at 10:30 and had to meet up with my roommate at around noon, and I definitely thought that I had 2 hours to get my stuff together and leave. Leave at 12:30 and because I left at the same hour, I’ll get there at the same hour! YEAH MY LOGIC WASN’T RIGHT WHEN I WOKE UP WOW. So I like rushed this morning and threw a tablespoon of this into my timolino and filled it with my vanilla almond milk. Shook it like crazy as I ran to the bus!
And no way was I going to drink this hot since it was in the freakin 90s today and will only get hotter :/
But this was really good! I still have plenty of this tea so I’ll probably try it hot in vanilla almond milk next time and just try every possible way to drink this tea :)
Preparation
Shout out to QueenOfTarts for sending me a sample of this!
Well, her sample was humongo and I’m just WOW THANK YOU <33
This is my first time trying a matchaccino and I think it went well? I still don’t know if I’m making it correctly, but it tastes yummy so it’s all good to me :) I did almost a tablespoon of this (don’t know if this was the correct amount) and poured 12oz cold 2% milk right on top and mixed it up with my frother. It’s nice! I like how I don’t have to go looking for the caramel. It’s legit right there and you taste it the secon you take your first sip! It’s really nice and smooth, and it has just the right amount of sweetness, just enough that I don’t have to add anything to enhance the flavour.
Overall, Red Leaf, thank you for making this wonderful tea :)
Flavors: Caramel, Cream
Preparation
Well I know I had a review of this. I recall writing it. Where did it go?
This happens often to me, it seems. Hmph.
Anyhow, I tried something different today. Milk, water, and a whole lotta ice in the blender.
It turned the ice into a strange frothy cloud that I think would go really well if it had been mint. But the cherry was odd. More floral and not very strong. Oh well. Live n learn.
Not really getting a toffee or anything other for that matter taste aside from creamy matcha. That’s not a bad taste, but since it’s supposed to be flavored it gets a reduced rating.
It smells similar to the caramel sample I received in my first order, so I was excited to get some of that smell translated into taste but it didn’t happen. This is the April sample so I’m guessing it’s basic grade matcha and delicate flavoring. May need to boost up the flavoring if I were to order it.
2 chasaku scoops dissolved in 175F water, then added 8oz heated light soy milk.
Chocolate peanut butter pie smoothie…Yum!
Now off to a job interview…
Thanks guys although it turns out what I really needed luck with was getting to the interview. Somehow my GPS managed to reroute me to the location at the other side of the city only for me to realize too late, freak out, call my interviewer and reschedule, and then cry alone in a parking lot just from the stress of missing the interview. So now that is over and I am back home.
Toronto’s really awful that way. As a result of amalgamation there are tons of streets with the same name in different parts of the city. As well, as we all know there are streets like Lakeshore that become blvd and road depending where you are. Its still a major problem for EMS. I’m not sure if that’s what happened to you, but I feel for you being late for things, missing transportation is a reoccurring nightmare for me. Sorry about your interview. It’s nice that they rescheduled. Best of luck in your search!
So I think I prefer Peanut Butter Pie mochi to French Vanilla mochi, though both are good. This one, compared to French Vanilla is sweeter as a lot of the “pie” elements come out. Also, there is a nice creaminess to the taste (if that makes any sense). What I am not getting is peanut butter but it is still very delicious.
A little while back, Red Leaf Tea had both Strawberries & Cream Matcha and Bananas & Cream Matcha on sale. Courtney and I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and stock up on both as they are delicious. Since I was placing an order, I also grabbed a large bag of my beloved Caramel Popcorn Matcha. That brought our total just shy of the free shipping amount so with just seconds left to spare before the sale ran out, we added this to the cart. We chose the following options:
Size: Small (30g)
Matcha Quality: Classic (Basic Grade)
Matcha Type: Regular
Flavor Level: Delicate
Now as I am sipping away at my matcha milk (1/2 a teaspoon of matcha powder combined with 8 ounces of milk), I can say that I am very happy this was the one we decided to toss into our order. It truly is dessert in a cup. The peanut butter is both salty and creamy and combines nicely with the hint of chocolate and graham cracker crust floating in the cup. Compared to the plain Peanut Butter matcha, this is much sweeter, as to be expected given the “pie” element. It is also much creamier than its plain peanut butter counterpart. I am getting a touch of grass from the base, although that might be a result of poor mixing on my behalf and not a reflection on the product itself.
This is definitely a tasty cup and I am glad I have much more in my stash. Anyone who would like to add this yummy treat to their cupboard can find it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/peanut-butter-matcha.html.
Also, for anyone interested, Cheesecake Matcha is Red Leaf Tea’s deal of the day and thus it is on sale for the next 11 hours!
This is just okay. Got it at Robust level flavoring, and while it’s definitely raspberry, it’s chemical-tasting and smelling. There’s a depth to it that I assume is chocolate, however it’s just not enough for me to say… truffle.
Preparation
Ah, I love tiramisu, even if it’s been a while since I’ve had it. I definitely wanted to try this at a Robust flavor, because I’m finding I prefer all the dessert matchas stronger. This was creamy, eggy, and chocolatey, although I did miss any sort of flaky pastry in the mix.
Preparation
To be fair, I got this little packet in a trade, and I have another little unopened packet that I got straight from the company. Not knowing how old this trade one is, I’m going to completely reserve judgement until I try the one I know is new.
So, I made this in my usual way, blender, cold, milk, a little sweetener. It’s fine, but doesn’t taste much like toffee. If the other sample isn’t a big improvement, I can’t see myself ordering this one over caramel (which I love). It’s not bad though but if I didn’t know what flavor it was supposed to be, I don’t think I could tell by tasting it.
I ordered a free sample of this from Red Leaf Tea (only have to pay shipping- woot!). I’ve never had a matcha powder blended into milk, so I am looking forward to trying it! I love drinking milk by itself anyway, so this sounds delicious.
As a child I never cared for cheesecake I always remember my parents eating it and when they offered it to me I just wasn’t having it. My mentality then told me that Cheese plus Cake would not be a good combination so I hated even the thought of it because I just didn’t understand.
When I was a little older(early 20’s, don’t judge me lol)I accidentally ate some cheesecake at a friends and I was like “OMG,you made this? It is so good,What is it”
My friend told me it was Cheescake and I was just like “Oh, Great Cheesecake” I didn’t want to admit that I was always scared of the stuff lol
Anyways I loved loved loved the cheesecakes every since then and I’ve had lots and lots of them many different ways, So good :)
This Tea nails the cheescake taste to me pretty well, It is very creamy and smooth with a sweet cheesecake taste, very tasty but a little too subtle so Not perfect but pretty close.
Cheesecakes taste different pending on who makes it or where you buy it and such, I’ve had Excellent cheesecakes and Not So Good cheesecakes and in between cheesecakes. You can tell the difference between homemade and the store bought kind and so on and such So all cheesecakes taste different in their own way.
This matcha ,To me, taste like a cheesecake somebody made at home but not from scratch more like a nobake cheesecake Or the kind of premade cheesecake that comes in a tub , very tasty.
Tho not quite homemade in the taste and the taste is a little subtle, it is still quite nice.
Even a nobake boxed cheesecake can be super tasty and We Love to buy the cheescake in the tub and eat it right from the container those are fun times and thats what this matcha reminds me of :)
This one that I tasted was just a sample and tho it IS yummy good I think it could be tweaked to perfection and made to taste like a real home made cheesecake.

I still have enough of the sample to make more of this I’m totally going to add a touch of the Caramel Matcha into it next time, I love caramel cheesecake.
Flavors: Butter, Cream
Sil, this is WEIRD! It’s coffee, but it’s green, and it’s matcha. My brain doesn’t know what to do!
I’ve made it as a warm latte. It’s pretty good, but the flavour isn’t quite right, nor is the colour. :) I think if I want a coffee, I’ll just have a coffee.
Thank you for sharing, but this isn’t a flavour I’ll be keeping on my list! :)
D for Distinctive, I believe.
This sample is from Sil! Thank you! :D It’s been sent all over, and now I have ALL THE MATCHA in my apartment. My apartment smells like raspberry candy, wow that raspberry flavour is strong.
I’ve made it as a soda, per Roswell Strange. 1/2 tsp matcha and a bit of sugar dissolved in warm water, then mixed with club soda. And some ice.
Surprisingly tasty! Wow. I’m not really getting mandarin from this (all I can smell is raspberry – my WHOLE APARTMENT smells like raspberry!), but it’s tasty all the same. Maybe when it’s had a chance to air out more than just a few hours. :)
Had it as a cold latte, about two and a half chasaku scoops dissolved in 175F water, added 10oz cold light soy milk, shook like crazy. I don’t hate the end result, but unlike the raspberry where the fruityness went up, the cheesecakeyness went down. Think I’ll stick to this one as a warm latte and try the fruity flavors as cold.
Having this with about 8oz light soy milk. I’m getting a bit more of the cheesecake flavor, still very flavorful. Bumping the rating a little. Has a nice sweetness and the matcha base in the background.
2 chasaku scoops, enough 175F water to dissolve, then added ~8oz light vanilla soy milk.
Preparation
Excitedly opened this today, wanting to try it immediately. Yay, mandarin!
Sadly, it smelled little of mandarin and tasted little of it too. I don’t get it. It was sweet and sort of (?) fruity, but just generically so. Distinctive flavoring too.. must try again.
0.25 tsp in 2 oz.
Preparation
In my experience, I like the dessert flavored ones much more than the fruit-flavored ones, although it really depends on how strong the flavoring is.
I’ve tried a couple of ‘delicate’ level matchas, and wasn’t able to pick anything out at all other than matcha. I should be getting my first proper order soon – amaretto matcha plus this month’s sample – and I’ve gone for ‘robust’ because in my experience I need strong flavours in order to be able to pick them up!
Ok… I’m trying the cold latte thing (even though it scared the pants off me!).
I keep going to sip it, and my brain is saying, “This should be hot!”, but them my taste buds are saying, “yeah, we know, but, it’s really good, so just go with it!”…
I used 8oz of vanilla almond milk with 1/2 tsp of tea, along with a little drizzle of honey, since I figured if I’m going to go out of my comfort zone here, I better go all the way and add a sweetner…. When my metal whisk wouldn’t do the job (I didn’t want to dirty my blender, since I already have a pile of dishes waiting for me…), I used my stick blender to mix it up, and that seemed to work great!
I can see this being something I would crave (like those weird times when I HAVE to have chocolate soy milk, and there’s no getting around it…), and I love that it is totally different from what I’m used to.
I like this matcha better cold than warm, actually…. as I keep sipping, I’m liking it more and more…..
This sounds almost exactly like a review I wrote not long ago, I felt exactly the same way. I was almost afraid to try it at first, but then I could totally see it as a new craving!
It is a great way to have matcha. I keep checking out the Red Leaf Teas site to see what matcha they have on sale, just in case it’s one I want to try as an iced latte. I’ve been doing them for “breakfast” on my way to work.
Yeah, it’s so weird that I like it cold! I never would have expected to…ever.
Definitely stick blender to the rescue! Whenever I wonder if it will work for the job, I hear you chanting an encouragement, ifjuly. haha Seriously, I think I’d be too afraid to use mine if it wasn’t for you.
And Marzipan, your post about matcha preferences is what really pushed me to try this. Thanks!
I got this as a sample and had been waiting for the perfect time to try this. So many here seem to love flavored matcha that I wanted to be sure I had time to enjoy this one and really see what it was about the first time I tried it.
Hubby was home yesterday morning, and I decided that I had the time to play with it and see how it went. I’m into smoothies, especially for morning breakfasts in the summertime. We’re certainly not nearing anything like summer yet, but hey, at least most of the snow is gone now. I decided to try this as a smoothie of sorts.. matcha, milk, a couple of ice cubes, a couple of strawberries, and a touch of sugar. I threw it all in the magic bullet and waited for the strawberries to get all chopped up.
First impression… cold frothy milk weirdness. Hubby had the same reaction. I added a bit more sugar, and although the flavor was good, we weren’t sure about the texture. I like frothed hot milk for hot coffees and such, but cold, it just wasn’t my thing. I think next time I will try blending it all with a bit of water, and then adding some milk/cream at the end so as not to have the frothing effect & maybe we’ll enjoy it more next time. I’ve had the same problem when I’ve tried to make blended chai’s w/milk before, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.
I will say once I got past the frothiness texture of it and added a little sugar, the flavor was good. I think I was glad I added the few strawberries for an added dimension to the flavor as well. I think I’ll hold off rating this until I give it another go.
I love cheesecake matcha, but even more so the eggnog matcha YUM
Dying to try White Chocolate matcha
