Lupicia

I ordered tea for a friend for Christmas and a free sample bag of this tea was included with my order.

I had no idea what flavor it was or even what kind of tea when I opened the sachet. If I had known, I would have waited to drink it when my husband was home because he has been missing Anna’s Blend and Marco Polo and we are looking for a new strawberry tea for him. He didn’t care for the Gurman’s one and was only somewhat satisfied when I mixed Vanilla Comoro with Adagio Strawberry.

This one says it has coconut but honestly I don’t taste it. I taste strawberry, vanilla, and black tea. It is delicious and I resteeped it. The second cup was good, too.

My husband loved the smell of the remaining leaves when he came home from work. I noticed they sell a plain strawberry vanilla black and I may order that for him soon if we don’t find something else he likes. I am hoping it is the same blend sans coconut, although he wouldn’t mind the coconut, but I think this is a seasonal blend and I want something I can get anytime.

Arby, were you reading my mind? I actually had this tea in my cart along with some others during the Cyber Monday sale, but I decided not to order since I’d already bought a lot of tea over the weekend. I’m so glad I get to try this tea after all! The strawberry and rooibos combine pleasantly. It reminds me of Bird & Blend strawberry rooibos flavors. It’s really nice! Not quite authentic strawberry, but one that’s familiar and pleasant. I definitely get a bit of creamy vanilla as well. And of course Lupicia’s rooibos is delicious. Another winner!

This one smells pretty grassy, but let’s see. I brewed it at a low temperature for a short time and it turned out super nice. The flavor is light, mostly green apple. Unlike some green teas, it didn’t get bitter as it sat. Thanks to tea-sipper for sharing! The green apple flavor here is quite authentic and pleasant – I’m a fan!

I like green tea and I like buckwheat, but I did not like them together. Flavour of buckweat was overpowering.

This seems to have fallen to the back of my cupboard. The out of sight, out of mind void. This mornings expedition has uncovered it! I’m starting the cup out without adding cream and there is a sharp bite to it. It fades a bit as the tea cools, but the first several sips were unpleasant. When it was hot I mainly got the bergamot, with a hint of chocolate in the finish. Cooling down unveils the chocolate more and more. I find I have to keep sipping this cup to enjoy it or the bergamot bite starts to take over. I’m caving and adding cream! It’s a bit more palatable now. The sharp bite is gone, but the chocolate now hidden in the sip and present in the finish.
I was just eyeing the Lupicia website last night, pondering an order, and was sad to see this tea was out of stock. Now that I’ve refreshed my memory about it, I feel much better. My opinion further into this bag of tea could change, but right now I don’t think it is a reorder once done.

This tea has been on my wishlist for years and I was finally able to find it during a trip to Paris. It looks like a CTC tea. I know what that looks like, but I’m not sure if it is attributed to the taste I’m noticing. I’ve had other CTC teas by Lupicia, the first being Sweet Potato, so some of the flavors in this remind me of that. That flavor is under a strong amount of bergamot and the chocolate is much more subtle. I have to concentrate to pick out the chocolate which almost seems more aromatic, like chocolate scratch and sniff stickers, but doesn’t have the depth that real chocolate has. I’m enjoying this tea, but I do wish it had more chocolate in it.

On another note…. I really need to start letting my tea cool more. I have noticed that I have been burning my lips and roof of my mouth by trying to enjoy my tea too quickly after steeping. Someday I’ll learn. Maybe.

Sipdown. Coldbrewed this with lots of honey, and it was tasty. I reduced my rating by a bit because, while it was still good, it wasn’t as extraordinary as I remember.

Brewed this at the same time/temp as I did last time, but added honey instead of sugar and it was a million times better. Actually made this for my boyfriend, and I was fighting him for the cup.

Unfortunately, this didn’t quite measure up to other Lupicia offerings. I definitely got the sweet peach, but the floral notes were much more distinct than anything else. A pleasant cup, but not quite what I was hoping for.

I have very much been looking forward to trying this tea and it did not disappointment. The vibrant, sweet candy-like honeydew flavor works perfectly with the oolong base. The flavor actually reminds me of a Sanrio store, which was an extremely nostalgic experience. Was surprisingly delicious hot too.

Sipdown.
A solid peach flavored tea. Peach is strong on the nose, but the overall taste isn’t so overpowering. Very true taste, they do well with the fruit flavored teas.
Pretty good tea for the summer months and works well as a cold brew. I did drink most of this hot.

Another sip down. Coldbrew/honey. Still perfectly fine, but the flavor just isn’t as intense as I’d like it to be.

I’ve found this to be far superior iced over hot, and heavily sweetened. Last time I cold brewed it over night and it was pretty bitter, so this time around I cold brewed for just a couple hours. It’s not bitter, but it’s lacking the grape popsicle flavor I was looking for. I’ve found this tea is just a bit too finicky for the end result, so I don’t think I’ll repurchase when I run out.

Yup, grapes. Tastes petty much as I expected, but I still enjoyed it. I made it hot because it’s way too cold for me to drink anything iced, but this would absolutely be better cold (or better yet as a tea slushy). Absolutely no bitterness, with a verrrry slight hay note behind the grapes. I enjoyed the cup, and will finish the bag I have, but I’m not sure there’s a need to re-order it.

This tea was everything I hoped it would be and more. The base is light and vegetal, and the flavor is rich, caramelized, and buttery. Strong brown sugar notes, and no hint of bitterness or astringency. Very much reminds me of Butter Sencha from DavidsTea, but not nearly as temperamental or finicky. This is definitely one I want to stock up on before it disappears.

Lupicia does it again. Another absolutely astonishing fruity tea. I love the oolong base with the fresh white peach flavor. The aroma is incredible as well- like you’re biting into a white peach picked right from the tree. Compared to Alphonso Mango (which I sipped last night), this is a bit more true to the actual fruit, and is less candy-like. Still, I think I prefer the former.

Another sip down! I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one at some point. Such a perfect mango flavor.

I’ve found this tea is best with a bit of sweetener, especially honey.

I have been wanting to place a Lupicia order for forever (I know, I’m late to the game), and finally did so. I was so excited for the package to arrive, that I ripped into it as soon as I got home from work at 8pm. I’d been craving mango, so decided to try this one first (despite it being black, and it now being 8:15pm…and I have to wake up at 6am tomorrow). Lupicia, I’m sorry it took so long for me to find you. This is an absolutely exceptional fruity tea. It really does last just like a mango candy, and the smell (both dry and brewed) is absolutely captivating.

For years I’ve had the decaf black version of this tea and I have to say, the green tastes pretty much the same. The sour cherry flavor is so rich that I can’t pick out the tea base and I think that is true with the black version as well. I must have picked up this sample tea bag a couple months ago when I was last in a Lupica store and I’m super glad I have it when I’m on the go and at work! Thanks Lupicia! I might consider swapping the black for the green next time I need a refill on my loose leaf stash.
