Kusmi Tea

When I drink this tea, I want baklava. One of the baklava recipes I made strictly used orange blossom. This tea would of been perfection with it. This tea was meant to enjoy with a sweet. It’s good on its own, a nice balance of flavoring, good black tea base. Seriously, make and purchase baklava, and brew a pot of this tea, and enjoy.

I have a thing for strawberry teas. I am sure I have a bunch of past reviews on teas with this flavoring.

This tea seemed promising for me, green tea + summery berry sweetness. I got this to strictly make iced tea with. The green tea base was just ok. It’s Chinese green, and it’s very mellow. The green tea base with the strawberry flavoring was strange to me. Maybe since I am more used to berries with black tea, that’s why? I will have no problem drinking this down, but I don’t think I would buy again.

I received this box of Kusmi Russian Morning teabags from my parents. The first two times I tried it, I didn’t like it — it was too smoky and not smooth enough for me. The smell of the tea before brewing is also pretty offputting because of how dark and bitter it seems. I’m surprised I gave it a third try, but I’m glad I did — this time it turned out much smoother and I can see why others like it. I don’t think I’ll buy more of this tea because there are others I prefer, but I would have this if I were in a restaurant or at a friend’s house.

I just received this tea today and i have been craving it for quite some time. I must say it’s quite nice to see those silver needles scattered among the black tea leaves. As you open the tin, the smoky aroma hits you and if you pay a little attention you’ll immediately feel a citrus-spice vibe going on. Like some lemons with cinnamon and a bit of cloves. I love that this aroma keeps up as the leaves are steeped unlike most blends that have nothing to do with the aromas before steeping. It’s not too smoky nor is it too tangy. Just a perfect combination with earthy and woody undertones and a subtle spicy kick to it as you drink it. If you can still find it, as i did…i truly recommend getting it because it’s an awesome blend.

The smell is much stronger than the taste. I enjoyed this tea, but it didn’t really have a wow factor for me in terms of flavour.

My first thoughts when sipping this was that this was a winter tea. Despite this, I think Sweet Love is perfect for Valentines day. After all, the first day of spring isn’t until late March, it’s still a little cold and grey and the evenings are still closing in at around 5.30PM. It’s all pretty miserable and glum and actually, I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite ready to unwrap myself from my hot water bottle and duvet fueled evening hibernation. It’s still too cold and dark to venture too far from these comforts and so, I can think of few other companions to keep me warm this Valentines if my Boyf doesn’t pull through with something!

So I took a trip to France, forgetting that Kusmi, which I’ve always wanted to try was from Paris. Then I saw the giant Champs-Elysee store and knew I had to go. I picked up a caramel tea, as well as three of the tins, including this one. I told myself I needed them because I was about to be on a boat for a week and a half without tea if I didn’t get them.

Well now I’m back and many of these are proving to be great breakfast teas. I had this one this morning with some almond milk. Very smooth and tasty, with lots of bergamoty goodness. So glad I got to go to the store and ask about teas in my broken French!

Warm: Heel lekker. Zacht van smaak, zurige nasmaak.

Warm: Niet slecht, maar proeft nogal chemisch, er zit een kauwgomsmaakje aan.

an orangey earl grey. this one reminds me of the russian earl grey from steeped tea that ive had before that is also very good, but this one edges it out. all these tea samples seem to have a fair bit of astringency. pretty sure im committing myself to a long evening of tea drinking tonight.

my favourite tea of the kusmi russian blends sampler so far although ive got troika to go. red currant, cherry, a bit of caramel. funny i was just thinking about the twinings four red fruit tea bags i had years ago, and it has the same currant and cherry flavours in it i remember from that one.

earl greyish, lemony. honestly i brewed this one a bit too strong, and ill have to give a rating and edit after my next brew.

got this in the kusmi russian blends sampler. caught the cola flavour i heard i might expect right away, i liked it quite a bit. by the end of the pot the spiciness was getting to be a bit much for me, mainly cloves. very good, but i will make this on a cup by cup basis from now on.

04/28/17 this really does taste like cola when you add sugar to this (like i do).

I think this came by way of OMGsrsly and MissB but that was all the way back in 2015. It’s possibly too heavily flavoured, but I think it smells (and tastes less) close to it’s namesake. Adding milk turns it into a kind of vanilla perfume creamsicle.

Also, it resulted in this mother moment.

Mom: “This is so much better than teabags.”

Me: “But this came in a teabag.”

Mom: “I don’t understand.”

Possibly my favourite tea ! ♥ It’s a bit Christmasey, wthout the citrus flavouring though… Cardamom and liquorice are my favourite. Add peppercorn to a black tea and there you have it: my fave!
Spicy and sweet. To me it’s the most comforting tea ever. Perfect with a splash of milk. You can definitely let it brew for only 4 mins, but what’s great about Kusmi is that their tea never get sour if brewed for too long.

I tend to leave the leaves in for as long as I can for a more intense taste.

Mild flavour.
