I made a decision when I woke up today that I was going to break into my green teas. I’ve ordered so many of them lately, but just haven’t been in the mood for them. My recent order from Georgia Tea Company was sitting unopened on the table so I thought I would start with those. I only ordered sample sizes and I have to say they were quite generous portions, but I wish they were packaged differently. They arrived in cute fold over paper bags which stacked well in the shipping box, then the samples were packaged in plastic that I had to cut open. I don’t mind the plastic since I put all of my tea in tins, but I wish they were in resealable bags. They were also lacking brewing temperature on the packaging, I didn’t see it listed on the website either so I just went with my standard green tea temp.
This is quite heavy on the cherry flavor and very sweet, you defiately don’t need to add any form of sweetner to this one. Since it was 53 when I woke up I decided it was a hot tea day, a rare occurrence this time of year, but I think this would be really good iced. If it ever decides to warm up again I’ll make a batch.
Preparation
I find that the more I drink this the less I actually like it. I didn’t notice it the other day because my head was all stuffy, but this has a funny sort of aftertaste to it that I just can’t get past. It’s a cross between plastic and something else, but I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it bothers me enough that I decided to change my rating.
Preparation
Roobios is hit or miss for me. Some days I love the stuff and others I can’t get past the ‘mulchy’ flavor and scent. Luckily tonight is a night where I can enjoy it. I was looking forward to a nice calming cup since I had a rather eventful night (mostly positive, minus that kind policeman who pulled us over in a speed trap.). This tea really hit the spot. The almond smell is definitly there, and I absolutely adore the addition of the sprinkles. I think things like this bring out the kid in me, in a really awesome way. The taste is all roobios, with a dash of almond on the back of my tongue. I love almond/amaretto flavors a lot, so this makes me happy.
Preparation
Whats funny is that my husband perpetually drives like he’s running from the mob. And the one time he legit just didn’t notice the speed limit had changed on the freeway (it was around 2am on the way home on a friday night, he’s not trying to get breath tested even if he hasn’t had anything boozy since 10) he got pulled over. The cop we had was actually really cool about it, and only wrote for 5 over when my husband was doing more like 20 over. But damn what kind of luck lol.
I’ll say it again, this tea is phenom. I will be buying more soon. Just drank some while watching Paranormal Witness. Figured it might be something that would keep me calm, since its green tea. Pretty wrong, but I’m still proud that I’ve found a show that can actually freak me out.
Holy moly. This tea smells just Phenomenal. I had forgotten the mango/papaya flavors involved. This tea tastes…just amazing. It tastes like I wish working out felt. As someone who hates working out and is trying to lose weight, this is a lovely addition to make myself feel better. I’m realizing I really have come to adore Oolong teas as a whole. So glad I ordered this.
Divine Temple from Georgia Tea Company tastes like a fine wine. This tea is scrumptious and truly divine. I love the mixture of white tea and sencha which I can detect from all the other various teas within this really cool blend. Oh and yes as the description states, you want to drink this in before taking your first sip. The aroma is just to die for. This is the kind of blend that I could see myself being buried with, surrounding me, tucking me into my hand built casket. Sorry the review was turning a little dark there, but in all seriousness, whoever created this blend really hit the nail on the head here. They must surely be very proud of themselves, then again, this is a really hard tea to top.
You know, Georgia Tea Company is quickly becoming one of my favorite tea vendors, they ship quickly, they have good email follow up to let you know when your order is received, and shipped, and they offer some really intensely good tea blends. Their prices are more than fair, and their shipping is not bad at all at just 4.50 per order or free shipping for orders over 50.00 USD.SIPDOWN!
I’m going to combine my hot and cold drink experience into one here, because I forgot to post half yesterday
This tea is so pretty, with big chunks of strawberry and orange, and little meringue and other fruit bits. There’s also cardamom pods and cinnamon stick chinkies. And it smells diiiivine!
But holy tart, batman! It took a good dent in the head of my honey bear to make 16 oz of this drinkable without wincing. And even then I still left a good deal of tart.
Next, I cold steeped this overnight and it’s fruitier and slightly less tart this way. Still makes me pucker my face right up though. After I added some sugar, I found a really refreshing, tasty iced tea. I get more of the spice notes here and they add a good deal to an already nice fruity tea.
I don’t usually like adding this much sugar to my tea, however, so I’m not sure how I feel about it overall. It’s an insanely good iced tea, but I added probably a teaspoon of sugar for every 10oz of tea. Jury is still out on if I’ll buy again, but it deserves the high rating for that taste anyway :)
I like Georgia tea company’s teas but wish they sent their teas in sealed bags instead of fold over tops but guess that’s O.k. I just put them into my tea containers. When you open the bag this tea has a really nice peachy smell. I was worried about steeping it for 4 minutes that it might become bitter but it had no bitterness at all. Very smooth tea plain and then the next cup I added a few pieces of rock sugar and that brought out more peach flavor. Just a nice, pleasant, mellow cuppa. I ordered more of this to try this summer iced.
Preparation
This tea was going to get a lower rating until I made it as a latte this morning. Plain, this leaf smells fantastic, but the toffee just doesn’t come through like I’d hoped once it’s brewed.
However, the milk and sugar add a creaminess and enhance the flavor to where I want it! It becomes a decadent dessert cup, which is exactly what I was looking for. With that said, it’s still mediocre within that scope. Tasty, but I probably wouldn’t purchase again.
Preparation
The tea itself smells like dark craft beer. No joke.
It didn’t have an actual chocolate flavor either, but in a way that’s not a bad thing. It tastes just like a porter I like with the malty profile and very slight cocoa note. It just wasn’t at all what I was expecting!
I can see this becoming a fast replacement for any coffee addiction I have though as it’s strong and full-bodied.
Preparation
I found this surprisingly well balanced tonight. I don’t really know how I found it so tart the first time, because despite a bit of tartness the overall sip is rounded and full of berry-like flavor. It smells strongly of hibiscus, but the taste is very much sweet currant and a bit of tart raspberry like flavor. The aftertaste is a natural fruity sweetness that lingers.
Fiance found this sweet and satisfying as well.
And tasting notes might have actually gotten more horrible to write from mobile with the recent interface change. It wasn’t that great before, but this is pretty awful.
Preparation
Cold steeped this before I left for work so I’d have a before bed sip. :)
The hibiscus is less obvious this way and it really becomes a wonderful super fruity drink. Apple is the dominant flavor, followed by strawberry, with just a tang of everything else. Sugar only made this better. I definitely prefer it this way!
Preparation
If tea tartness had a scale, for me it would look something like this:
10-5 — almost undrinkable, sugar needed stat;
4 — I guess this is okay, but sugar would be better
3 — Now we’re getting somewhere
2 — Just a little bite
1 — Wait. Tart?
So, obviously my tart tolerance is kind of low. With a 2-3 being the sweet spot range. This tea confused it.
The initial flavors weren’t tart. I get apple and raspberry, but both mellow enough that it was smooth and tasty. And then, as I was swallowing, the tartness hit. At probably about a 6/10. Boo.
The good news is Stevia here saved the day. It made all the flavors blend so the tartness hit with the sweetness and the flavors of apple and raspberry and settled everything at about a 3-4 tart level. It’s most definitely still there, but it reminds me more of a fruity, juicy type of tart instead of a slap in the face.
Without sugar, this tea is probably further in the 45 range, but with sweetener saving the day here, it bumps up closer to 65.
Preparation
This is what smashed up almond cookies as a drink would smell like, I swear it. One smell and you get hits of sweet and buttery and so, so much almond. The taste itself is buttery and a little like marzipan. A sip and I can imagine flaky sugary deliciousness. The green tea isn’t a prominent flavor so much as the glue that holds everything together, and it doesn’t need sugar or milk (but it becomes much more decadent if you do use them). Just divine~
Preparation
I think this is another tea like Forever Nuts that every company seems to have a variation of. Della Terra has Walnut Brittle, there’s any number of Walnut Greens, a local company has Dasher’s Delight and they all have similar or the same subset of ingredients.
I think that’s because it’s delicious. The pineapple adds a little sweetness, and the coconut a bit of creaminess, but overall it’s a roasty, nutty warming cup on a bed of buttery green and oh so good.
Flavors: Butter, Nuts, Vanilla
Preparation
I think I was way too harsh on this guy the first time. The slightly waxy feel still bothers me a bit, but I just adore the sweet, nutty toasty flavor too much to find myself actually caring. Also, the afterfeel is greeeeeeatly diminished with subsequent steepings.
Super tasty. Sweet, roasty and nutty balanced on a bed of grassy and smooth green tea. Has a creamy mouthfeel that I love and well as what tastes like just a small touch of vanilla. Seems to leave a little almost waxy residue feeling in my mouth afterwards that I don’t like though. As the cup cooled though the after-feeling decreased until it no longer existed (though my tea was tepid)
Preparation
It’s been a while since I have tried a ‘new-to-me-Georgia Tea Co Tea’.
I’m trying to get thru this box so I can get it out in a few days! I HOPE I HOPE.
Oh yes! It’s from the “Here’s Hoping” Traveling Box!
Even tho I started my day with a Green Smoothie I followed it up with my tea habit!
This is a gentle EG and a little bit lighter on the cream to the EG but it follows-thru well! At least it’s not overly ‘creamy’ – I had an EG once that was a creamy EG and it was awful! TOO Creamy! Not this, tho! This has a nice Creaminess to it – it’s Earl Grey but with just a little bit more creaminess than the EG-ness! A nice combo!
I’m watching more k dramas – tonight is Rooftop Prince! Man, I like historicals. I almost was tempted to watch Faith over again, that series is amazing!
So, veg’n out on popcorn and this tea. There was a time I thought “I will blog ALL my teas” but figured in the end, with 200 teas in my cupboard, that will take a year. So, I figured I woulnd’t blog this one.
This one is okay. It has a tropical edge with the pineapple and papaya, however the dreaded raisin is present. I don’t mind raisins in tea (ie, Oatmeal Raisin cookie by Della Terra), though they don’t seem to agree with me so far for fruit herbals. The taste is just kinda funky. Oh well. I’ll finish this off.
Preparation
So, I have this tisane… and it smells EXACTLY like the Arabic food grocery stores my dad took me to as a kid. That’s great for nostalgia but will all of these savory flavors and smells work as a hot beverage? I’m feeling brave tonight.
So it was explained to me that Ayurvedic tisanes are blended to produce results not for flavor. Armed with that information, it actually tastes better than I was expecting. It’s really not bad. I think this tea would be amazing blended with something vanilla and cinnamon. It is very effective, that’s for sure. I’m gonna drink this again and it’s gonna grow on me. I’ll probably restock when gone.
This is an interesting tea. It’s a fruity herbal. The pomegranate flavor is quite nice – tastes like pomegranate juice, though much weaker, but the tea finishes off with a bit of raisiny and vanilla flavor.
Totally not a fan of the raisin and vanilla mix with this tea. Tart pomegranate mixed with warmy sweet raisin and creamy doesn’t agree with me. I do love the pomegranate in this tea though. The best application has to be iced as it tastes like pomegranate juice, but with the weird flavors at the end. Worst was cold steeped – it was just pure on raisin tea. Not for me, but I’m sure someone out there will enjoy this tea! Anyways – this tea is in my swap pile, I hope it’ll find a loving new home!

(fyi, prewrote this review before I got a cold, so it’s not my weird sinus cold making the tea taste funny).
Preparation
first off….the smell of the tea in the bag is just like an almond cookie!! Could just sit and smell the open bag. Once brewed it has a cloudy green color on the first steeping. Wonderful cuppa just on its own and with a little milk/sweetener brings out the flavor of the almond cookie more. Not at all bitter or grassy. I’m not a big fan of green teas for the grassy flavor so I really enjoy this tea. Did 3 steeps and the green color turned clear but remained a wonderful flavor! One of my favorite teas (right now anyway)
