I was in a mad rush this morning so I chose a teabag from my Den’s sampler (ok full disclosure: I actually drank a Tazo one first but that left me feeling unfulfilled so I had to drink something else immediately after to get my fix). I should have read the reviews about the powder, cause when I opened the pouch it exploded with dust all over my desk. Sigh. It’s one of those days.
All debacles aside, I enjoyed this. I did have to steep for a long time to get the full flavor I was looking for. But it was there; vegetal and slightly buttery with a hint of chestnut. I kinda had to dig for it though; it wasn’t as present as it would be in loose leaf form, but that’s expected. Overall this is a pretty decent bagged tea that I would stash in my purse for “tea emergencies” (yeah, I know you know what I mean!)
Preparation
Thank you Alpahkitty for this sample! Juicy Pineapple and some excellent Sencha! What’s not to love?
Den’s tea offers some of my favorite Sencha and their flavored sencha have all been delightful!
It’s Friday! And the sun actually came out! Wooot! What better way to celebrate than with my first spring tea of the season.
This has a light floral and fruity taste, without being sweet. I generally can’t stand all things cherry flavored as they remind me of children’s tylenol syrup from back in the day, but this just tastes so light and fresh and natural. The flavor is so delicate; it tastes like my tea was kissed by a cherry blossom. Mmm…it’s love at first sip. Hello spring!
Preparation
I haven’t written a tasting note in a couple of days because I’ve mostly been on a kick of drinking this tea, along with various shu puerhs. Boring to read about but satisfying as heck for me! This one is the perfect combination of sweet/green/savory rice flavors. And I’m loving the matcha kick in the afternoon!
I got my Den’s order in the mail today, YAY!
Celebrating with some toasty ricey genmaicha with the extra kick of matcha!
That makes two of us Stephanie. I got a small supply of Genmaicha from Zen Tea today, I’m drinking it with a nice cod filet tonight, can’t wait, love it with any fish dish!
Awesome TheTeaFairy! It does sound really good with fish. I’m drinking my 2nd steep now, WOW this stuff is way more caffeinated than normal Genmaicha due to the matcha…tea buzz LOL ;)
Already regretting only getting 1 oz of this. What was I thinking?!
Sigh. So good :) it’s like a gentle floral with a hint of cherry, which is perfect with the butter greeny Sencha.
did you try apple sencha and grape sencha? i was thinking maybe its better to get pineapple and sakura only. your thoghts
Really lovely sencha base with a floral cherry note. Falling in love with green teas today <3 This particular tea is really beautiful dry too. The dark green sencha with teeny sakura blossoms is so pretty!
This is a wonderful buttery vegetabley green. No bitterness. So glad I got the sampler from Den’s so I could try some Japanese green teas! They are fast becoming my favorites.
Also interesting- I like sugar in most of my teas but Japanese greens I like all by themselves! Genmaicha, Houji-cha and now Sencha, too!
