Della Terra Teas

This was my morning cup. A nice basic vanilla black tea. Nothing mind blowing, but a nice tasty cuppa. I think my daughter likes this one more than I do, so I’ll probably save the last few cups for her. That said, I will continue my hunt for my perfect vanilla tea.

I shared a pot of this with my daughter when she came home from school today. It was nice with a good, basic vanilla flavor. I honestly can’t say that I paid a lot of attention to it while we were talking. However, my daughter asked for me to make it for her tomorrow morning, so it must have made a good impression on her.

This is a nice vanilla tea. The vanilla doesn’t drown out the base tea, so both can be tasted throughout the sip. I also like that the vanilla doesn’t have an artificial flavor to it. This one is a keeper.

This is a fun tea. There’s plenty of strawberry flavor and enough vanilla and chocolate to give it a “sundae” feel. Since it’s a dessert tea I added sugar, and then after drinking about a quarter of the cup I added cream, too. If I were going to keep this tea around I’d definitely do the cream and sugar thing. It really adds to the dessert aspect of the tea. However, I already have Strawberry Cream from Zen Tea, and since I’m already hooked on that tea I’m putting this one back in the box. Look at me showing restraint. :)

Perfect Christmas morning tea. Minty vanilla cream meets smooth black tea with a hint of malt. Now I’m trying to decide which tea to make an eggnog latte with this afternoon or if I should just dive in with a spiced rum-nog. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season!

On first smell of this, I was worried about how it was going to taste – it smelled very medicinal. Fortunately, the medicinal note didn’t arise in the cup.

A pleasant but not stand out rooibos. There’s a distinct note of orange peel and some fruity sweetness that I wouldn’t really pin down as persimmon.

Nice and easy to drink, but it didn’t grab me.

I have a serious backlog because I had to have major surgery and haven’t been able to review. I am on the mend, but most of my current notes will be short and sweet in an attempt to catch up.

This is a sipdown and will be missed. I enjoyed this sweet and sugary (literally like burnt sugar at times) dessert blend with a dash of milk to make it creamier. Will probably be a reorder for the next holiday season.

Tasty for what it is and very pretty with the blue and white stars, gold candy bits, and mini marshmallows, but I prefer S’mores from DT if I get to chose a dessert tea. I enjoy this from time to time and it does have a caramel echo, but next time I order I hope to get a GINORMOUS bag of S’mores instead.

Steepster was being fussy when I tried to post the review of this, so this is from memory. I will be more comprehensive when I am sipping it next time.

I’d heard a lot about Eight Candles and the primary reason I wanted to order from Della Terra was to try this out. While it is a nice dessert tea, it reminds me vaguely of David’s Salted Caramel in that I wasn’t able to coax as much flavor out as I would like. Faintly caramel and sweet overall, it isn’t anything I would write home about so far. I will play around with the parameters and see what I can come up with next time around. :)

Hello everyone. It’s been a while. Hope you’re all well, getting ready for the holidays.
I’ve been busy cooking, welcoming someone new into the family (brother-in-law got engaged Finally!) and … cooking. :)

In between all that I’ve Been drinking old favourites and up until this Black Friday I haven’t bought much “new” tea. This was one of the teas I picked up from Della Terra. Can’t beat their Black Friday prices, really. Assuming you like their teas, of course.

The taste of this to me is identical to DAVIDs “love tea #7” which I quite enjoy. I get the berries and the chocolate all together with black base when the tea is hot. As it cools, not so much base anymore.

Sipdown time!
You ever have one of those days that, for no real reason, you are dreading going into work? That’s my day today. Weee.
Well, I’ll fortify myself with a mint black.
Farewell, Peppermint Bark. I’ve liked you, but not loved you, and its time to move along.

Monday. Urgh. And I think this will be a long and difficult week. Bleh!
Today this has got a little, almost chocolate note in it. I did some chocolate sprinkles, so maybe its that?
I’m almost done with this, and it won’t be a reorder. Its good, there are just better versions!

I’m up early today, as I’m an emergency fill for one of my fellow staff. I’m happy to help out, even if it is early on a Saturday morning!
I’ve been ignoring this one, which is not fair. Its a decent tea! Its problem is not within itself, but the fact that I’ve had better versions of this blend elsewhere. I’ve got better vanilla mint-y blends in my cupboard.

Only holiday teas this week, I think. I had Figgy Pudding yesterday (the Della Terra tea), but Steepster ate that note. Oh well.
Peppermint Bark! I keep saying it, and its still true. This is not as good as Santa’s Secret or Christmas Tradition, my two favorite of the mint-vanilla-black combinations.
However, thats not to say it is bad! Oh no, not at all. Its well blended, and the flavors are quite pleasant. However, you really don’t need this and, say, Christmas tradition, if you like this flavor profile.
I’ll have no trouble drinking this down, but I won’t go out of my way for it again next year.

Still delicious, but still not quite as good as Christmas Tradition, I think. Hmm.
But really, nothing will stop me from drinking all the vanilla mint teas.

My internet was down this morning, which was highly annoying, but the rest of the day went well.
But the kettle still worked, so I brewed up tea.
I probably did not need both this and Christmas Tradition but…. well….. I can’t pass up a peppermint black, I guess. Even though they look, at a quick glance, very similar (minus popcorn). Would there be a difference?
So! Nice, minty, smooth, and with a delicate touch of vanilla, but not as good as Christmas tradition, in my mind. I can’t quite suss out why Tradition is better than Bark, but who cares!
I still enjoy this, and won’t have a problem drinking it down. Yay, peppermint black teas!

This tea smells amazing. Like buttery batter, creamy frosting, and all manner of sweet and cakey things. I liked it right from first sniff out of the bag. It is easy on the eyes with the tightly curled cut black leaf, dried pineapple pieces, and flower petals. I remember this tea had quite a reputation for being one of the must-try Della Terra teas and I can see why people enjoy it.

The steeped tea also smells like a moist and buttery cake and the liquor is clear and dark brown. The taste is very pleasant and sweet. Smooth and faintly malty black tea blend with sugar, vanilla, and a flavor I can only describe as yellow cake. I’m not really getting any pineapple or fruitiness, but that is just as well because I am a vanilla buttercream cake addict. This is a very nice way to treat the sweet tooth without stuffing my face with cake. I’m really glad I bought 2oz of this. I just brewed a second pot and the hubby is enjoying it as well. Most Della dessert teas I’ve tried have gone over well in this household. Without being overly cloying or artificial, they have a good flavor to my palate and I think the base is a decent black.

I’ve decided I really need to be more on top of trying all of the samples you lovely people have sent me. Since most of the tea drinking I do happens at work while all of my samples sit at home, I didn’t realize how many I have. I also forgot how excited I was about some of them. I’ve been drinking my favorites so much lately that it’s time for a change anyway.

First, let me say that I don’t actually like traditional s’mores all that much. When I make mine, I always use cinnamon graham crackers and skip the Hershey’s in favor of a piece of Chunky bar (if anyone actually knows what that is…brownie points for you because I am apparently the only person that knows what they are and enjoys them)……(okay, fine, I’ll tell you what they are—a not-so-high-quality chocolate bar with peanuts and raisins throughout)…….(I promise they’re delicious)……..(really)………(alright, now back to your regularly televised programming)

Sometimes I’m extra rebellious and spread a schmear of peanut butter on the graham cracker first, skip the chocolate all together, and just lay the extra melty/extra burny/extra fantastical marshmallow on the peanut butter. Oh man.

Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that I’m not a huge fan of this tea because it tastes like normal s’mores. Seeing as how this would be a plus for most people, I won’t rate it. But, you know you’re totally gonna try s’mores my way next time!

The seasons are starting the change around here, so its time to move it on the cold weather teas. This is, of course, a wonderful tea, but its time for it to move along.
Figgy, earthy, rich, an all around nice cup.

This is still really rich and earthy, a good depiction of figs. I’m enjoying it a lot, though I’ve never actually had a figgy pudding, so can’t speak to its authenticity.
But, its going to be spring soon enough. Time to get sipping on the ol winter and fall flavors.

I need a rich cup of tea today. You ever have those mornings?
I was thinking, as this was steeping up, that I’ve never actually had Figgy Pudding, so I have nothing to compare it to. For all I know, this could either be a perfect recreation, or a total deviation. No idea.
What I do know is that the tea has a rich taste of figs, which I quite like. Good!
