Della Terra Teas

Yes, I still have some of this. Who knows how long it’s been since I last ordered from Della Terra…it’s been awhile! I’m pining for Fall today, so I broke this one out of my nicely organized cupboard. It’s sweet and cake-like. I ate it with a cookie! ;) I got my TeaTime mag in the mail, but the front cover got all crushed and torn. What the heck?! Makes me sad, because it’s an issue all about Fall! :( I love Fall. It’s still hot here, but I’m counting down the days until I can drink some new Fall teas and go buy apple goodies at Apple Hill! It’ll be here soon!!!

Ost was kind enough to include a sample of this in the package with my stash sale purchases, thanks dear! I do love me some blueberries. The sample was 2 teaspoons and Della Terra’s website recommended 1 teaspoon for 6 ounces, so I decided to just use the whole thing for my 8 ounce cup. In my experience, Della Terra’s teas need to be overleafed anyway to be strong enough.

This is a perfectly nice flavored tea. It’s mostly pastry and cinnamon to me, with hardly any blueberry. It sort of reminds me of cinnamon rolls with sugar glaze over the top and maybe a couple of blueberries sprinkled over. I don’t think I would order this, it’s a bit too artificial for me. It is quite tasty, but not enough blueberry!

This is the first tea I picked to try from the box, and I quite like it! I don’t know how to describe it really, it’s not a wimpy black, it’s not a malty black, but it is pretty multi layered and very satisfying as a first tea of the day today.

This is really, really good. The vanilla is very naturally sweet and tastes a lot more “real” than most vanilla black teas I have had. It masquerades as dessert if you add a little milk to make it even creamier.

I had one cup of this and enjoyed it even though I thought there could more of a lime taste. I chilled the rest and found that I enjoyed it a lot. The flavor came through a lot stronger. Good on a warm summer day!

This was a bit of an impulse buy, since the idea of a S’mores-flavored tea was something that piqued my curiosity. The dry mix smells more like a chocolate breakfast cereal to me than a s’more. Then again, a lot of chocolate-based teas do.

Flavor-wise, it’s more like a weak hot chocolate than anything. It’s alright, but not something that’d make me immediately think of s’mores. There is, however, a faint taste there that I don’t like. Plasticy? Burnt? I don’t know, but it distracts a bit from the marshmallow and chocolate. Milk made it taste like the milk from a bowl of chocolate cereal, only warm.

I don’t think I’ll try resteeping. I doubt that after all the melty bits have dissolved it’ll really turn out well. Probably won’t restock it as it didn’t really impress me.

The last time I tried this tea I remember it being far from perfect. The malt tones from the black base were too strong for the pear and at times it got lost in translation. Today I am trying to use up teas from my cupboard and this one is what I have at the moment, remember what it was like last time I decided to put lashings of honey into this batch. It’s made all the difference. Now the pear comes through much stronger and the malt and smoke is left as a gentle after taste, the honey is noticeable but paired with the pear it’s like a sweet/candy but in a nice way. Last time I said it was mild but the honey brings out the sweetness of the pear and gives it a juicy quality. I love biting into a large, ripe pear for the juice to dribble down my chin, this tea reminds me of that. So since honey makes all the difference I will increase my rating a little.

Wowsers…this smells like sweet, juicy pear. It’s like pear gummy sweets (if such a thing exists), very pleasant and tantalizing. I had a different pear tea yesterday so I will have some means for comparison. The blend is very dark and mostly black leaf but it’s perfumed strongly and was a very pleasant surprise.

The steeped colour is golden red and it has a light pear and thick malt scent with a hint of smoke. The black base has now dominated the divine pear scent. I think this base would suit better if I add sugar to it, however for the first cup I will try it without.

Well it at least tastes lighter than it’s rich black base scent. I can taste gentle pear with a touch of sweetness which is quickly met with a slight bitterness from the black tea and a hint of malt before the after taste takes us back to the pear which lightens yet lingers on the tongue. It’s like I’ve had a pear drop hard boiled sweet and taken a sip of standard bagged tea. Not the nicest but at the same time it’s drinkable and makes a change. Compared to the pear tea I had yesterday this one is very disappointing.

I will try it with sugar next time and see if that improves the flavours.

Wow!! how much time since i was here? 2 years i think that was sure a long hiatus but i’m back in the tea world with this one as the first one i was looking Through my stash and find this one unopened . Mostly smell of chocolate and maybe a little orange. Made my first cup with just a little brown sugar became instant favorite just the perfect balance of semi-sweet chocolate and pu-erh it’s a shame all i have was a sample will surely order more .

I know that most people don’t like the added flavors but I am enjoying the fullness of the cup. The raspberry and chocolate are definitely the major taste and aroma with the black base pulling it all together. I’m quite enjoying the tea.

My little activity monitor isn’t working quite right this morning and did not measure my 2 mile walk :( I’ll never reach my goal unless I adjust it somehow. I always feel like I’m cheating if I adjust it. I have to lose the weight I put on while visiting my mother in Florida. I swear all we did was eat! I seem to have gained about 3 pounds. I’m losing some of it but it’s hard. So many tempting foods. At least I have all my lovely teas as a substitute, :)

This is so ridiculously chocolate-y and caramel-y. Ugh the perfect chocolate combo. It’s pretty strong, but not too much. Though it does leave that weird aftertaste in your mouth that all chocolate teas do. That’s probably my only dislike of this tea. But it seems like a pretty universal thing for all chocolate tea. I enjoyed this. ^^

Not my favorite. It’s a roastier oolong, so it can tend to get bitter. Also, it doesn’t have the creamy texture that many oolongs do (especially the greener ones). I signficantly preferred Davidstea Long Life Oolong. Too bad I bought a 2oz pouch of this one. If only it were green! …. sigh

Maybe I’ll try mixing it with a greener oolong and see if that helps.

Very nice peppermint flavor. I’ve steeped this hot and cold. When brewing it hot, the peppermint scent is lovely. When steeping cold, the peppermint flavor is fantastic…a great aftertaste and the perfect way to relax on a hot summer day.

I have made this hot and have cold-steeped it as well. Both of these methods prove to be delicious. When I steeped this hot, the scent of chocolate and apple – a balance of both notes – really permeated the whole room.

I see black tea! I see chocolate! Where oh where is the cherry… hmmm…Was really looking for it too. I’ll try sugar next time.
Still, it’s a pleasant chocolate cuppa. Nice and comforting.

A very, very sad sipdown. Of all the green teas I’ve tried so far, this is a favourite. It tastes just like freshly squeezed orange juice. Sunny, bright, cheering. One I’d definitely pick up again if I had the chance!

The name of this one is so apt! Just opening the bag and smelling the sweet aroma of apricot and tropical fruit made me think of holiday sunshine and happier days. I’m going for cheering teas today, since that seems to be what I need. This actually came as a free sample with a Della Terra order I placed a good while ago, so it’s about time it got an airing!

I gave 1 tsp of leaf 2.5 minutes in water cooled to around 175. It smells delightful while brewing — light, fruity notes of apricot, tinged with the deeper pepperiness of mango. The liquor is a golden sunshine yellow! The taste of this one is very similar to the scent. The initial flavours are apricot and peach, and they’re juicy and fruity. The flavour deepens with notes of mango, which adds a layer of stronger flavour and a slight peppery edge. The sip finishes on a tropical note, with, I think, guava. There might be a hint of pineapple, but I won’t swear to that. It could well be wishful thinking! The green base is pretty unobtrusive — it doesn’t stand a chance against the strong fruit flavours! I could actually be fooled into believing I was drinking a glass of fruit juice if I didn’t know better — it’s that fruity and juicy! A wonderful choice for a hot day — it’s certainly put a smile on my face!

Delicious! The chocolate aroma and flavor are rich but balance the spice of the chai perfectly. This tastes best with just a hint of sugar.

The raw blend smells strongly of vanilla and maple sauce, at first I thought cocoa but then the maple grew and lingered in my nostrils. It’s beautiful.

Flavour is sweet and thickly like maple with buttery notes and a lingering after taste. I was once gifted some maple shaped sugar treats by someone that were soft and crumbled as you sucked them…this reminds me so much of those sweets. It’s not so much cupcake like as it treacle/maple sponge cake like but I suppose the fact that it is rather cake like at all is a triumph. Not as thick as you would think being a black tea either which is a plus considering it’s so super sweet.

A lovely tea, too mild for my husband (though he agrees with me about the after taste and treacle sponge cake) but I quite like this blend. It tastes much nicer than I was expecting.

Did I underleaf? The smell of the sample was really good, but I didn’t care for the flavor. I got a little white chocolate at the end of the sip, but really nothing during the sip. I had higher hopes for this tea. Looking at the other reviews, I wonder if I did something wrong.

I cold brewed this for about 24hrs. I can’t believe how much I like this fluffy creamy lemon rooibos. I once assumed all tea with lemon would be tart and pucker your lips without adding sugar. I’m going to have to get some.
