Celestial Seasonings

hmm this is oddly accurate. Lots of creamy vanilla, cakey flavours (a lot of vanilla sugar cookies), and quite a bit of citrus. I can taste mostly lemon, maybe hints of orange (like orange rind used in winter desserts). This would make a killer latte, because holy cow is this ever delicious and creamy on its own.

Enjoyable. It really evokes a sense of the holiday season for me. I enjoy the spice and sourness of the plum flavours, although a bit too sour. The flavoured could be more balanced for me.

The tea is uninspiring in either direction.

I’m currently mixing this tea with another Celestial Seasoning’s flavor just to get through both boxes as I’m not a fan of either. The combination of the two makes the tea drinkable.

Celestial Seasonings is a brand I find I’m either hit or miss with. There is rarely any in-between emotions I have in regards to their selection which is sad as they have a rather large selection that is readily easy to find.

There are other nighttime blends that I find hit the mark for around the same price point that I prefer to stick with.

This tea has a fantastic aroma, but I find the flavor to be weak and in need of a long steep. I have a love / hate relationship with Celestial Seasonings teas so I never know which one will surprise me. Unfortunately, this was not one that did.

I’ve opted to combine this tea with another of Celestial Seasonings teas, Sleepytime Vanilla (another tea I find too weak to stand on its own). Combined I enjoy the flavor enough that I will be able to finish off their respective boxes.

It’s a shame because the scent out of the box was great, so I couldn’t wait to try it only to be let down once it hit my palate.

My original steep was 5 minutes at 190 degrees. The steep I’ve found to work best is 7-8 minutes at 190+ degrees. Adding a bit of honey powder (and milk, if desired) does enhance the flavor if one does find it lacking.

Okay, I had a tough time saying “no” to this tea. But let me explain why I said “no,” because I’m probably more middle-of-the-road than anything else.

This sleepytime tea is fine. It definitely puts me to sleep, and it’s nice to have, yes. It smells of mint, but the taste overall is flat. I don’t get anything from it. It still does the trick, occasionally a little honey in there is nice, but I wouldn’t call this tea anything extraordinary.

It does soothe me to sleep at night, and it does smell lovely. So for those reasons alone, it’s a nice spare tea to have in your cupboard. But there are better teas.

One of my more favorite teas from Celestial Seasonings. I find their teas to be very hit and miss so I never know which I will like until I try them.

With this tea I usually add a piece of licorice root (just 1-2 smaller pieces) to add a bit more flavor to this subtle tea. I find myself reaching for this tea in the evening a few hours before bed.

As a hot tea, this was too sour. Definitely heavy on the black cherry. Would be interesting iced.

One of my favorite bagged teas, best brewed two bags to a mug or one per teacup and with a little cream at the end. Easy peasy, soft vanilla, chamomile and sweet mint flavors go nicely with a cozy blanket on a sleepy evening. I only wish it were stronger on the vanilla! It’s no expertly done full leaf but a simple, humble little tisane is good from time to time.

Strong, balanced rooibos/vanilla aroma.
The taste is light, dry, definitely rooibos-y, with only subtle hints of vanilla. Too subtle for me in this case.
Nice and warming, but a bit lacking.
