Of course Steepster was down when I was undergoing wild sipdown madness. I am very happy to see it back up and running today!
I drank this yesterday, where it did not thrill, but didn’t horrify. It was an easy enough tea to drink, but like all these sachets, uninspired.
But, a sipdown!
The running theme of these Celestial Seasonings packets I got for Christmas is that they are not exceptional, not bad, mostly forgettable.
That makes them perfect work tea.
This was a bit too astringent for my tastes, but not enough to make it undrinkable. Still, I am glad I only have one packet of it!
A small sipdown.
It smells like cherry cough syrup, and it tastes a tiny bit like it as well, including that odd sensation of having your mouth coated, even after the cup is gone.
Hmm. Not going to be a repeater, but maybe cough syrup tea is perfect for kicking this tiny sore throat?
One can hope.
I woke up with a touch of sore throat, which I am aggressively trying to get rid of. I’m only just back from vacation, I need to keep well.
So these gifted tea bags are just the ticket. They are simple, more hot water than tea (this bag in particular), and add another notch to the sip down goal.
No particular opinion on this. It was more a warm cup of water than it was tea, but even that is good for a sore-ish throat.
A bunch of people gave me tea at Christmas time (yay!) and so I have a whole host of individual sachets and tea bags, perfect for bringing to work, and easy sip downs. This was one such.
Its a basic earl, not even particularly jazzed up with a touch of lavender. But not offensive.
The first sipdown of the year!
I’m not sure who this tea would appeal to as I didn’t make it past a couple sips before dumping it.
Where do I even start?
I’m overwhelmed by the ginger and while I taste the maple it doesn’t balance the ginger out. There’s supposed to be a balance of spicy and sweet and all I got was no and no.
The flavors don’t taste as I want or expect. Yes, I taste ginger. Yes, I taste maple. Yes, they taste the way they should but, yet, they don’t if that makes sense? There’s something off, though I can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps it’s an imitation flavoring that is doing me in with this, but whatever it is it was enough of an off-putting taste that I opted to dump the remainder to tea. That is something I’ve only done once before out of thousands of cups of tea (with gunpowder tea).
This tea is leaving my house ASAP via the garbage.
Flavors: Ginger, Maple Syrup
Preparation
A Family member bought a box of this recently and I was wanting something minty tonight and it really hit the spot! This was the first tea that I drank as a child, this tea was what I’d drink at night and mix my medicine into.(It was powdered) So this tea really brings back memories. I’m not a big fan of peppermint so It’s nice to have an easily accessible herbal tea that has spearmint instead.
Flavor wise the honey I added blends nicely with the chamomile and other herbs leaving a sweet herby taste. While the spearmint flavor reminds me of gum. It’s a really nice palate cleanser. After adding some honey to it and trying it I decided that I didn’t even need to add any milk.
I steeped this using two tea bags in a 12 oz cup. The water temperature was boiling and I lost track of how long it steeped but it was likely around 8 minutes.
Flavors: Creamy, Hay, Herbs, Spearmint, Vanilla
Preparation
I love Gingerbread but I’m not entirely sold on this tea yet. It’s strong when you let it steep enough but I still am not quite getting the flavor I want. I tried it with sugar and brown sugar. I think with some milk I can maybe get it to a place I want. I got a whole box of this and will have to keep trying different things.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger
