Ahmad Tea

I am not a good reviewer for black currant tea. I used to consider it a real treat. Now, I can’t get past the smell. Don’t know if it’s me or the manufacturers. This at least had a fruity scent under the awful one and the taste was ok.

Strangely whilst in Canada this was by far the best Earl Grey Tea Available. Never really touched Ahamed Tea back in the UK – as it is more of touristy type product.

But is clearly the leader of the pack in Canada and a good cuppa compared to the local brands.

I drink daily 10-12 mug strong tea without sugar .

I steeped this eight minutes, per the instructions, and ye galloping gods, is this ever bitter, but I can’t tell if that’s due to the oversteep or simply part of the style.

It is also incredibly, over-the-top malty, but I really enjoy the strength of that flavor, so am going to try a shorter steep and see if that helps.

I enjoy this with chocolate digestives or Marie biscuits – both soften well on dunking!

Based on a tea recipe David acquired from the previous caretaker of Bahji, we blend 1 part Earl Grey, 1 part Darjeeling with 2 parts Ceylon, for pilgrim’s tea as it was served for many years to those who visited the Shrine of Baha’u’llah (www.bahai.org) near Akko, Israel.

I cold steeped this in a cup of water overnight. REALLY impressed for a bagged tea. More peach than passion fruit, but it’s a nice refreshing real fruit taste. The black tea base just disappears into the background. Pleasantly surprised.
