Tea Advent Calendar, Day 2

I decided to do this one gongfu cha in my gaiwan. I’m so glad I did.
I love watching oolong in the rinse. The leaves just floating, barely open.

They open much more after the rinse in the first infusion

Slightly roasty, rather sweet, quite tasty, and it lasted through many, many infusions. It lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.
If I could get this one, I would have it again.
This was day 3 in my Tea Advent Calendar

Such great aroma. The tea I found a little lacking. I sweetened it a little bit and that helped some.
I am really enjoying this tea.
It’s part of my November White 2 Tea subscription. So Yummy.
I picked a heart shaped piece. It was cute. Many infusions later, there is still a heart shaped piece left in my gaiwan.
It’s smooth and sweet and just really nice.
I wish I’d ordered it.

A couple of months ago, I signed up for Amanda ‘SoggyEnderman’ Wilson‘s Tea Advent Calendar. It’s been sitting, waiting patiently, for December to arrive.
Today has arrived.
I opened my box (it looked like a chinese carry out box) and pulled out the first envelope.

I followed the directions she provided and steeped.

Three minutes later, I have tea.

The aroma is gingery. The tea is a little cloudy, but as I drank, things settled and the tea cleared somewhat.
I was a little disappointed in the ginger flavor. It wasn’t as strong as I hoped. Nor was the peanut flavor.
But it was still nice.
I’m excited to see what tomorrow’s envelope brings.
I was on the same boat, I thought it was a nice tea but really wished the peanuts or ginger (or both) would have been stronger.
I started my DF advent calendar too! This tea sounds interesting, I think I would like peanuts in a tea. I can see it being genmaicha-esque. :)
I went down the the HLDYMRKT in Hamtramck today with the express purpose of meeting Joe. He and I talked for quite a while. I was quite taken by his teas, and purchased this one without hesitation.
It’s really nice. Smooth, malty. I don’t get that undercurrent of smoke, but then my palate isn’t as developed as many others here. Almost sweet, but not like sweet potato or anything. It’s just nice.
The color is beautiful. The tea is aromatic. I’m really glad I decided to get this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. It seemed quite smooth, almost creamy. Later infusions were really sweet.
Delicious.

and a bonus cat picture, because my favorite chat cat came over while I was drinking and had his nose up in everything. By the time I got my phone out to take a picture he was done with the tea, but still super cute.
I remember liking this tea more than I did today. Maybe it was old or just because it was a sample in a plastic baggie and didn’t keep well, or it picked up flavors off of something else. I don’t know. It was nice, but not outstanding.
Tea kitty did seem to really enjoy it.

Thanks to Marzipan for this sample.
I had to rush this as I thought we had more time before we were out the door this morning. My fault.
I found it a little malty, quite fruity. Nice.
It was cold by the time I got back to it, so I had some, and then I threw it in the microwave. It was still pretty tasty. I enjoyed it.
sometimes a good comfort tea is exactly what is needed. I feel like I should have ordered more of this, even though I have a bunch still. I will some day run out and I won’t have this. It’s a dessert kind of tea, but I love it for breakfast on Sunday morning.
I really hope they bring this one back, it was so yummy!
Yes, I quite liked it. Thanks for including it.
My pleasure :)
