807 Tasting Notes
A big Thank you to Krystaleyn for sending me this and many other nice samples!
Having this as my morning cup today.
Very bright and fruity, tart, natural flavor – not artificial which is pleasant. I think I may add a touch of sugar in the raw when I refill my cup but its very nice as is.
Thank you Krystaleyn!
Preparation
I do love GenMatcha, I love every thing about it from its nuttiness, creaminess, earthiness, etc and so on.
I will say this one is alright. I would drink it pretty much anytime.
However, if it were my dime. I would get Den’s brand – it is a lot richer than this one.
This one has all the flavor components but is a bit weaker and lacks some of the complexity of Den’s.
Preparation
Have a sample of this one.
Murky green color.
Nice bag pyramid style as indicated – keeps all the very fine powder tea inside.
Aroma is nutty and creamy.
Flavor is nutty, could be stronger but its bagged tea and its pretty darn good for a bagged tea!
Creamy and earthy with a bit of a twang tingly zippy flavor in the after taste.
I made this using my Keurig to heat the water and it worked really well. I think the only reason I might buy these tea bags and not go for the loose sencha would be for those lazy times.
Otherwise I would go for the loose leaf but this is not bad at all I get plenty of flavor.
Preparation
Purchased some samples from Persimmon Tree and this was the first one I tried.
I was pleased with the aroma in dry form and could really smell the hibiscus coming through and it had a very pleasing almost cobbler like aroma. I am not one for floral teas but the hibiscus was somehow just right in this one.
Brewed it was very fruity but not sweet. I think I would have preferred it a bit sweeter however I did not feel a need to add sweetener either.
Maybe I was too tired still, or too lazy, but I enjoyed it just fine without any sugars.
Something about how fresh it tasted – like peaches from the orchard was just fine with me this morning. I will have to have another cup but I really did not get the cinnamon in it.
It was a tiny bit astringent.
Preparation
I just can’t say how happy this tea makes me to even smell it. I often go open it up just to get a whiff then back to whatever I need to accomplish! Brewing up some right now and I know it will make me quite happy. Its like a legal drug or harmless sin. I hope that 52Teas never stops making this one!
We have a random strawberry tea that gives me that same sort of effect. I almost don’t want to drink it, just keep it around to smell for awhile.
Fingers definitely crossed that it arrives this week so I’ll know in time to place a 52teas order…. but I’ll probably order it regardless. Plus some others. Good thing online purchases go on credit cards!
A very enjoyable oolong. Slightly “dark” tasting for an oolong.
Refreshing and relaxing cup.
Its one of those cups you find yourself gulping down.
It has a clear clean taste.
This cooled off quite a bit as I was doing some things and I found it to be very good cool as well.
It has this slight flavor of hay. Earthy, but fresh like spring time.
Preparation
Of all the “cream” flavors I have had – both Earl Grey and not, from cream peach to strawberry to this … this is the best cream flavor ever to date.
The bergamot is not over powering whatsoever but I guess if you like a punch in the face of bergamot this would not be the tea for you. This is a very well balanced tea with a nice smooth non astringent black tea base, perfect amount of bergamot oil and a delectable cream that you taste on each and every sip without having to look for it.
Extremely fair pricing on this tea as well, fast shipping, great customer service.
One of my top favs in both teas and vendor source!
EDIT NOTE: Fairly decent on the resteep as well! Not as good but better than a lot of black tea resteeps!
Preparation
On the bergometer where do you rate this one – is it in the Harney and Sons EG Supreme (light) range or more towards the Twinings (medium) range?
LOL Dylan :)
K S I have not had Harney and Sons EG supreme but I would say it is far lighter than Twinings.
I think the face punchin earl grey title probably belongs to Todd & Holland’s triple bergamot… Even their double is super strong, so I can’t even imagine how powerfull the triple is.
My first experience with Ice Wine tea was a Design a Tea Sample.
I got this because I LOVED the Design a Tea Iced Wine and well I was giving Culinary Teas a sample go around.
I am at that stage of deciding my favorite teas but also which vendors I like best.
I must say Culinary has some wonderful teas but I feel they are a bit hit and miss at times.
This is a very good tea.
Fruity, Sweet but not overly so, and I get the ice wine flavor I was hoping for … but … I do prefer Design a Tea’s ice wine over this one.
There was just a bit more flavor to it. I got far more of the wine flavor.
Now I will say the grape flavor in this is very very good – absolute NO artificial flavor at all and no astringency! There is nothing wrong with this tea at all so if you are going to make an order with Culinary Teas and want an iced wine go for it!
It smells very good – grapey but not fake grape like most soft drinks and juices!
Now I did end up adding a touch of sugar to this and it did help bring out the flavors nicely which they suggest.
I did not however have to add any sugar to Design A Tea’s Ice Wine.
Its all a matter of what one likes though. If you prefer a little less BAM in your tea I would suggest this one.
I should have mentioned that I like this one better steeped for less time, say 2-3 minutes, although I can’t recall if I’m good about the 94C. :)
Oh its okay it was still yummy – thanks :)
You’re welcome. Can’t wait to see what you think of the others!
