807 Tasting Notes
This is quite yummy! Not the most complex sencha I have ever had but the floral flavor does not kick ya in the face which is good as I am not a huge fan of florals but it is present and very nice to support the yummy cherry flavor that is not cloying at all! Cherry is one of those flavors that is so hit and miss for me! Its pretty right on!
I could see this in my stash again! I used 2 teaspoons as I wanted more flavor and I steeped 2 minutes (recommended 2-3)
Preparation
This was good. There are some I like better but its not as deep or heavy as many genmaicha – this could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you are looking for but for the summer weather I like it! I could see this being what I drink in the summer and Den’s in the winter!
I’m definitely curious to see what you think of it compared to the other genmai’s you’ve drank. We could be drinking bad genmai, and just not know!
Fruity, Green – LOVE how the flavors do NOT wipe out the wonderful green tea base! Very impressed. Oh dear I fear this is one I will go through fast :(
Preparation
Trying a re-steep from earlier today. I wanted so much to log more on this – write a real review – etc but I have felt cruddy all day – just don’t have the energy. Sorry. I don’t even know if Mates can be re-steeped. Need to look that up.
Your welcome. :D Oh and I use about a teaspoon and 1/2 per cup. I tried just one teaspoon per cup but it was weaker than I liked.
Thank you Fusion for this very lovely mate. Too tired yet to review or rate but I am very much enjoying this morning cup! Will make more notes soon.
I am going to do a better review later this evening I will say I did enjoy it. I have never had a mate though so hesitant to do a review before I do some research on mate, what it is like, what I should be getting from it, etc. The flavor though was pleasing. It was not the most complex tea I have ever had but then again I was still asleep when I drank it. :)
Steeped as instructed – love sandalwood so much. This was just NOT okay.
Bitter astringent – wonder what I did wrong. It seems like the flavors were there … but I fear I messed it up somehow. I mean I could taste the POTENTIAL … hummm
Hrmmm. You’ll have to let me know if you brew this again. I like Sandalwood as a scent (I love sandalwood as a scent!), but as a flavor… hrmm… that’s uh, making me cringe a little.
Its very good – I just wish so much that it were far spicer!
Sweet pepper tasting more than jalapeno but excellent flavorings very natural fresh and from the garden tasting!
Preparation
Wrong pepper. Think your normal black pepper in your shaker on the table. Peppercorn pepper! I think the pizzahut stuff would be better ;)
Love this one. I prefer oolongs, greens, and white teas and this is my favorite black so far that is naturally flavored! Thank you Teavivre for this sample. On my shopping list for sure!
This and Verdant’s Laoshan Black are really the only teas on my list of straight blacks to try. They’re just so highly regarded on here, that I figure they’d be good choices to start with. Luckily, I should have a sample of Verdant’s coming my way, but I’ll have to see if I can wrangle a sample from someone or Teavivre of this one… because I’m DYING to try it!
Writing a review for this and throughly enjoying the cup. On second steep and just as lovely and can go many many more steeps.
I am not much on floral teas but this one is a spring and summer MUST!
Mmmmmmmmmmm
Preparation
Yeah that was the last steep for me though – others may have taken it further but I need more robust flavor myself :)
