117 Tasting Notes
The bad news: this doesn’t taste like tiramisu. The good news: it tastes just like coffee and an almond biscotti. This is awesome, because coffee makes me queasy and biscotti have calories, and so I can’t have either too often. But I can have this tea for dessert! I suspect this is going to be a regular after-dinner drink. Yummy.
Preparation
This smells so very good in the bag that I was expecting great things. What I got was slightly lemony water. I must have not used enough — three heaping tablespoons, brewed for 11 minutes, to make two quarts of iced tea. I’m guessing I need at least two more tablespoons. In which case, I won’t be buying this again, because that makes for one really freaking expensive pitcher of iced tea. Oh well. It was worth a try. I’ll probably make a stronger pitcher down the road at some point…
Preparation
This tea is so good. I love the complexity of it. I went into the new Teavana store this morning to pick up more. I’d never been in there. I walked out with more of the Melange, plus five other teas I’d never tried. Eeeek. Dangerous place. Everything just smelled so good! Anyway, I now have four ounces of this and it should last me a while. Yum.
Preparation
The predominant flavor, to me, is soybeans. I used to eat them plain a lot when I was younger, and it’s just like that. It’s kind of chewy — not in texture, of course, being tea, but it feels like you could really bite into it. It’s also got a touch of sweetness in the finish. I’m enjoying this cup, but I think I’m going to have to be in the right mood for it, and I don’t see that happening very often. Definitely unique, though!
Preparation
I had this about two hours ago, while out running errands. It’s not the first time I’ve had it; it’s just the first time I’ve had it since I joined Steepster a few days ago. I like this tea quite a bit. It’s the first English Breakfast I’ve ever had with Keemun in it, and it’s a nice change from the usual Twinings-type blend. According to Wikipedia, the Keemun version is the traditional blend. That’s cool. I like traditional. The tea has a lovely floral-ish perfume to it, but isn’t too delicate for my tastes. (I typically like Assams and Ceylons for black teas, and hate Darjeelings.) Definite thumbs-up.
Preparation
I made this with three teaspoons to 14oz. of water, because I like strong tea. I’m glad I put in the extra teaspoon, because a lot of reviews of this tea say it’s bland. Not so with my cup. It tastes just like hot chocolate, with a slight hint of peppers. I’m not getting any strawberry flavor at all, but I like it a heck of a lot and will be drinking this as a dessert tea fairly often.
Preparation
I had suspected this would be good over ice. I was right. Making the pitcher used up my sample, so I’m going to have to order more.
I just looked up the ingredients list — the unfamiliar flavor of the tea is elderberries and blackcurrant. I’ve never eaten either. It’s a nice change from the usual raspberry and strawberry!
