310 Tasting Notes
Just tried this at 185 degrees, 10 seconds. It was Very green and Very savory. There was a almost-not-there sweetness, too, but as said it was barely there. I like it much better than last try.
Second steep, 15 sec: bitterness is coming out strong, but it’s still good.
Third steep, 15 sec: The bitterness is lighter and I’m mostly getting the vegetal flavor.
Fourth, 15 sec: This one is a much gentler steeping. The flavors are more muted and lighter on the tongue.
And so on as I keep trying it! Fiddling with it this way I like it MUCH more than I did the first way I tried it. I’m learning to not follow the website’s steeping instructions and follow my “standard Japanese greens steeping” method of trials and errors.
This isn’t a favorite but I AM glad I got so much of it from my Club membership shipment. I can try it all sorts of temps and steeps and not worry about running out. A good tasting tea to play with!
This has a greenish, hayish, honeyish scent. Hard to pinpoint but very pleasant.
The taste is also a mix of these. The main flavor is quite green…reminds of spinach or zucchini, but not as heavy. Then there’s the dry, warm, beige taste of hay swirling into the sip after a while. A faint sweetness on the front of the tongue.
The finish is long with the green flavor.
Made at 185 degrees and 2:30 minutes.
Revisiting a past favorite. I steep it for 2.5minutes, with 5g of tea to 12oz of water.
It’s still what I consider a great Assam. It’s strong but not overwhelming, has that burnt flavor that comes across the middle and back of your tongue, a slight malty taste, and is full and round in the mouth. The finish is lasting with the burnt classic Assam flavor.
A very full and strong tea, but not bitter or too intense, IMO. A good morning or late evening cup. I can see this being good with milk and/or sweetener, but I prefer it without.
Preparation
This smells of a very honey sweetness.
It tastes like that charcoalish burnt flavor of black tea, but pleasantly so. Not too heavy like some can be. It is very red and round on the back of the throat and under the tongue. The finish is faintly bitter and a mix of the red and black flavors, depending on where in the mouth you focus.
Over all, a very pleasant tea.
