310 Tasting Notes
This is a lighter tasting tea in my opinion. It has a hay-like taste and… Not really sweetness, but sorta. It has a roundish mouth feel. It’s not refreshing feeling, it’s more hardy it seems. There is a long finish of the hay tone.
Over all, I like it but it’s not a favorite. I’ll keep it as a some variety in my whites, something to mix it up with.
This is a good solid Ceylon.
It doesn’t have a lot of subtleties. There is a note of tobacco, but otherwise it’s just a sort of strong generic Ceylon flavor… That dark, somewhat burnt, somewhat bitter, taste I connect with ceylons.
It’s quite yummy, but it’s not one that says, “I will seduce you with my subtle note of this, my lingering tastes of that…”. Instead it comes up and yells, “BAM! I’m a Ceylon!”.
And if you like a good strong and straight-forward Ceylon this is for you.
I received this as a sample, yay!
I tend to find most oblongs rather light in flavor, in my sense of taste. This one is strong. I don’t get the apple and such flavors that are in the description. Rather, it’s Very flower to me. With a vegetal undertone. But the flower flavor is almost overwhelming in the mouth and back of throat, both. It’s almost like drinking perfume or smelling one that passes the nose in its strength and comes right down into your throat to settle. It’s not bad tasting, just very, very strong. If you like very strong floral flavors, I’d suggest this tea!
It’s a nice change up from other oblongs I’ve had. I’m enjoying the cup but wouldn’t buy. I’m glad I did get the sample and experienced it.
This is a green tasting white. A stronger flavor than a lot of whites. It’s good enough that I’m ordering some more. I get at least 3 or 4 quality steeps out of it; might be able to get more, I just haven’t tried.
White Monkey reminds me of that Beastie Boy song “Brass Monkey” -That I’m listening to my Ipod right now (without a case) because I like danger.
This isn’t awesome or have anything subtle or special to it, to me. Nit just comes across as a general good black tea. Something to keep for daily want-something-good-and-basic tea times. It has a light black tea burnt flavor, almost not there. It has very little finish. But it is good.
I’ll probably give it a way or throw it out as it’s not a favorite and I’m having to slim down my tea collection to just favorites for a move.
This one for me is strange. It has a very full and angular mouth-feel to it. It has a grassy green bitterness, but not one as strong as in Japanese greens. It has a odd sharp throat taste. There is something woody about it, too. The finish lasts about a medium while and is of the green bitterness.
I have to say I like it. I’ll likely give away a lot of it (I got three very generous portions from Tealet) but I do think I like it well enough to keep one of the bags for my own rare use (I’m only rarely allowed to drink anything with caffeine).
Strange but yummy.
