I received this tea as a free sample from Teavivre. Thanks again Angel! You rock!

This tea isn’t on the Teavivre site, so I’m not sure what that means. As of yet, I am still experimenting to get the steeping parameters right, but I can already tell it’s going to be very fresh, sweet, and rather buttery. Will try to remember to report back once I have the parameters nailed down!

The tea leaves are long and twisty, varying from dark to light green. This tea smells like tomato (especially the dry leaves- I find them extremely fragrant) and brewed it even tastes a little tomato-y. I am really enjoying this tea! This flavor holds well through at least one more steep.

I received this tea as a sample from Teavivre. Thank you again, this tea is super fresh!

The dark, twisted leaves smell fruity and roasted. I’m looking forward to trying this tea!

The flavor is different than I was expecting. It is fruity, but not sweet. The roasted quality is more like a roasted asparagus taste than a roasty bread taste. None of t these things are bad, just different. I also notice quite a bit of astringentcy, which so far hasn’t bothered me.
For this first steep I used boiling water and steeped 2 tsp for 1 minute.

Second steep is sweeter and less roasty, with the same astringency. This is a mild steep.

This isn’t a favorite for me, but I’m happy I ordered this sample.

I just received another lovely package of samples from Teavivre, and decided to try this one first. I do not think I’ve ever had this varietal before, so I’m looking forward to it!

First thoughts on opening the package – it’s super fresh smelling, and leaves are small and curly.
First sip- this tastes like Laoshan green! Very soy beany and buttery. This tea has a favorite note for me- sesame seed oil. This tea is delicious! I followed Teavivre’s recommendation of 3 minutes, and I think that may be too long. It was a little bitter towards the end.
The second steep of 4 minutes is very different from the first. Not nearly a s sweet, with a great deal of nuttiness. I prefer the first steep. I will try it with a shorter steep next time.

Every time I have this tea I think it’s better. I’ve been hoarding this tea, so the package I’ve had is a little old, but it’s super yum. In fact I really think the rice flavor has come out more, and the Laoshan notes have deepened.

I’ve been hoarding my last bit of it as well. So delicious.

This is a really tasty herbal. I really appreciated the lemongrass – it added a nice sweetness. I can’t say I went right to sleep after drinking it, but I did sleep well. :)

I love tea. I first tasted loose leaf when my grandpa brought some back from Russia and I remember just savoring it. Not sure what kind it was; all I remember is that it was loose leaf and it was good. =)

I really enjoy oolong, jasmine tea, and white tea. I especially love those black teas with chocolate notes! Also, chai is a constant favorite. I enjoy green tea, but need to be in the mood for it to actually want it.

As far as tisanes go, I enjoy chamomile and occasionally a mint. I am interested to try rooibus and honey bush. I do prefer teas without artificial flavoring but I’m willing to try most things.

I know next to nothing about puerh, but I like what I have tried so far.

I am consistently amazed at the flavors contained in one leaf. I am on a quest to discover all of them! Slowly, though. Good tea is expensive. :P

Other things I enjoy: Books. My family. Truth. Campfires. Animal Rescue. Gardening. Sushi. Mountain biking. Documentaries. Trees. Music. Culture. Sour cream raisin pie. Not necessarily in that order. :P
