288 Tasting Notes
This tea is similar to Laoshan Black, but with more sweetness. Not floral at all, it’s more like the sweetness associated with squash or sweet potato, kind of caramelized and toasty. It’s different, and tasty!
Preparation
So happy to have this back in my cupboard! (along with Yu Lu Yan Cha and Laoshan Black). This tea is such a treat. There are so many notes on this tea it’s not necessary for me to enumerate, I think. If you like Jasmine and haven’t tried this tea, just do it!
I’m annoyed because I just finished a sample and threw away the bag without making sure what it was! I’m pretty sure it was this; but I’m not sure, so note to self: order a sample so I can get a proper tasting note! If this is the one I’m thinking of its also a surprise favorite.
I can’t believe I waited this long to try this tea. I’ve had this sample for some time, and I think I was just trying to drink up other opened packages first. I should have tried this earlier though, because it’s just the sort of oolong I like. This roasted tieguanyin has a great nutty, smooth and slightly floral flavor. As the cup cools it gets slightly sweeter. Very nice! Thanks again, Angel and Teavivre!
Preparation
Using up my last sample of this. I’m really trying to use up all the little bits of tea so I can order more. :) As always I am enjoying this. I accidentally steeped it a few seconds too lon g and I can tell in the taste, but it’s fine. Thanks again to Teavivre for all the delicious samples they’ve sent over the years! See other notes for more info on this tea.
Best breakfast tea ever, and now I’ve finished it for the last time. :( Even though it was very nice of Verdant to share their recipe to make this, I just don’t realistically see myself blending this tea myself. Sigh…maybe one day when I get desperate enough.
Preparation
I polished off this tea this morning. It’s a good breakfast tea. I looked at my last tasting note for this tea, and it was from 3 years ago!! I knew I had had this tea for a long time…but wow. It is still good after sitting that long.
I believe this is the only Keemun I’ve ever tried. Based on this one, I’d certainly try others. I like how it has a powerful, smoky flavor but doesn’t overwhelm me, like lapsangs do. This is one I’d welcome back into my cupboard.
