288 Tasting Notes
Oh. Oh. OH. I’m going to have to raise my rating on this one. There is so much flavor in this tea! The sweet potato is there as I remember, but there is much more going on. It has this sweet cinnamon-y thing going on the sides of my tongue that makes me pretty happy. And this strange blueberry aftertaste! So very tasty and unexpected. The blueberry becomes more apparent as my cup cools; I really tasted it around the middle of the cup.
This is a great tea!
I really hope this is a blend Verdant brings back. This is another tea that has swept me off my feet! I did not expect to like it as much as I do. The green bean flavor of the Laoshan green is paired perfectly with the coriander and cardamom- I find it hard to describe how it makes me feel. I don’t want to describe it as medicinal, because that sounds yucky. However, it really does taste like its good for you, very clean and comforting.
Preparation
Wow!
This tea exceeded my expectations. This may be my favorite blend yet from Verdant. I very much appreciate the fact that all their blends are completely natural with no added ‘natural flavor’. This particular blend has so many different flavors but it melds perfectly. I wasn’t sure I was going to like the mint but it doesn’t overpower the blend; it leaves a nice aftertaste. The chamomile I notice more as my cup cools, but again, not overpowering. The predominant flavor is chocolate. Need I say more on why this is so good? =) The chocolate is flavorful but isn’t bitter like dark chocolate. It also isn’t sweet like milk chocolate. It just struck me what this reminds me of: homemade hit chocolate mix. We used to take powdered milk, cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg and I don’t remember what else to make homemade Mexican hot chocolate. This has that flavor! In a TEA, that’s remarkable.
2 tsp per 12 oz cup.
Preparation
This tea tastes more like a green tea to me than a white; I enjoy both however, and this is really good! I was trying to figure out which vegetable this tasted like and to me it tastes like fresh edamame. It has a lovely soft texture and delicate sweetness that is enjoyable. It has this wonderfully weird trait of leaving the feeling that I just ate something very savory, and salty.
I brewed this western style with about 1 1/2 tsp of leaf for 12 oz. I know I’m naughty for not brewing it like Verdant suggests but I don’t have much of this tea and I’m trying to stretch it out! It was good this way, too.
Steep one, one minute. Steep two, 1 min 30 sec. I plan to keep going!
Preparation
The first time I tried this, I was quite sick and couldn’t even smell the leaves, let alone taste it.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I opened the package and inhaled deeply. I can’t believe I couldn’t smell it before! Very minty. The good kind of mint, though; also smelling sweet and a bit spicy. I am very excited to try this again!
The tea is a dark rust color. I can smell both puerh and mint. First sip is very minty. I have had minty teas before that were just disgusting; this one is sweet and pleasant! The cinnamon in this blend is just right. Just a few sips in and I am enjoying this very much.
Second steep +30 sec. A little darker in color than the first steep. Still smells minty but more of the puerh is coming through. Taste wise it’s the same way. There’s a bit more earthiness coming through but the mint is still the first thing I taste.
This is delicious!
