181 Tasting Notes
Tea & Cards TTB
This smelled delightful in the bag…all christmas-y spice notes and happy things. It’s a shame it didn’t brew up anything like that, though.
My first impression post-steep is that it tastes like potpourri smells. I mean, it SHOULD be delicious, but instead my tastebuds feel like they took a wrong turn into a craft shop…there’s a nice background black tea note that’s pleasant and some cloves or other baking-sort-of-spice that’s tasty, but overall it’s not a particularly memorable tea.
Solidly meh, this one. Not painful to drink, but I wouldn’t seek it out in the future.

In the bag this smelled amazingly like coffee…I really got my hopes up for a replacement to my morning coffee routine. The first flavour to hit your tongue is more of a mocha note, though, and it’s delightfully pleasant.
The roasty notes of the mate snuggle in right behind the mocha-chocolately flavours in a delightful fashion and the aroma is comforting in the same way that a busy coffee shop is when you’ve a paper to write and all evening to hang out…
It takes to sweetener well – and I’d advise adding some sugar to fully realize the chocolate malty notes – and overall I have to say that this is a nice little cuppa. Not sure if I’d choose to restock it, but I certainly enjoyed sipping down the cup.

So this teabox has been full of amazing teas – I’m so glad I decided to participate in it. :)
As to the tea…it’s beautiful. There’s a roasty, rich background that goes really well with the tangerine blossom notes (not quite citrus, but close). It’s easy to drink and lingers in your mouth just enough that you really appreciate the full spectrum of flavours. It also takes to sweeter really well, although it tastes amazing without…not to mention the mouthwatering, comforting aroma that makes me want to curl up and snuggle the cup.
This is easily one of the best teas I’ve had in a long while…I’m absolutely enchanted by it.

Bloody delicious, this is…I’ve always been a fan of Earl Grey and I’m startled by how well it pairs with the cream flavouring (both hot and cold).
The bergamot is mellow and not overwhelming at all – while still being unmistakably Earl Grey – and then there’s this silky sort of vanilla-creme flavour that kinda slides around your mouth afterwards…it’s a simple sort of tea, but therein lies the beauty.
I’d drink it again, happily…and will probably order a batch when I clean out my boxes of samples lying around. :)

I’m not entirely used to the concept of citrus and honeybush as a thing, but this actually works out pretty well…it smells a bit like cough syrup, but the flavour is all grapefruit (and some other citrus I can’t put my finger on) on the front end and that delightful woody honeybush background.
It goes really well together, actually, and I enjoyed the cup.
Not sure I would have another one, but it wasn’t a pain to drink it down.

Oh, I had such high hopes for this tea…in the bag it smells like ripe peaches and deliciousness, but after steeping the black is actually really bitter and overwhelming compared to the peach flavour (which came out tasting fake and chemical-y).
Maybe my tastebuds are broken, but this tea was rather unpleasant and it’ll be going down the drain soon.
Preparation
I have to admit, I’m not really enthusiastic about black peach teas in general. I just feel peach works so much better with oolong or green tea, I guess.
I hadn’t tried peach with either of those flavours…I’ll have to keep an eye out for them in the future.

Okay, so I’m just a sucker for pastry-esque teas…I surrender.
This one is pretty much as advertised – there’s a comfortable black base with all kinds of baked goods notes mixed in and a gentle citrusy-vanilla overlay – it really does remind you of a comfy sitting room and some sort of freshly baked tasty thing…
Very good and one I would gladly drink again…although there are a few others I’ve had recently that may be vying for the title of “one true pastry tea.”

Sipped this one during my morning microbiology course and didn’t have a computer handy…so I’m doing it from memory.
The white base is wonderful – sweetly subtle and unassuming – and complements the blueberry flavour perfectly. I wouldn’t say that this tastes like fresh blueberries – the flavour is much more like the dried ones you pick up at the store – but the overall impression was that it was delicious.
I’d happily drink it again…and I’m considering stealing it out of the TTB because I kinda fell in love with it.

I was suckered in by the intense grapefruit smell coming from the bag, but sadly the tea doesn’t hit quite the same note.
Once brewed the tea was still enjoyable – it has a quality green base that has a subtle vegetal note – but the grapefruit is definitely far more polite than I expected…it features more as an aftertaste than a front note.
The more I drink it, though, the more convinced I am that this is actually a good tea; it just wasn’t what I was expecting. Tasty, but not one I would choose to keep in my cabinet.

Had to sip this quick before my orthodontist appointment earlier, so I’m doing this one from memory; we’ll have to see if it turns out okay.
There’s a great black tea base paired up with a definite yeasty/pastry note. It doesn’t quite hit what I remember brioche being like, but as far as a sturdy sweet breakfasty type tea goes this one is a total hit.
It’s along the same lines as the Blueberry Crumble by Della Terra, but without the fruit notes…more like a cinnamon roll without the cinnamon? Eh, you get what I mean. Tasty tea and one I would eagerly drink again (and may buy as a result of trying it in the TTB).
