Ooh, yummy. Winter punch!

If you’re anything like me, this tea will make you think of a spiced wine. The smell is divine, and soooo addictive. I could literally just smell this all day and leave it at that.

Steeped up it tastes a bit different than a spiced wine – although it would’ve been fun to mull it in wine. Hm… deep thoughts.

It also needed a LOT of sweetener to get it palatable. Otherwise, it was dry and almost antiseptic to me. Too much hibiscus for my palate.

I’d love to try more of this and play with it a bit, it was a super fun tea.

“Ooh, Raspberry Lemonade… sounds delicious. I’m trying it!”

That’s my first reaction to the three tea samples, 6.5g each, that Dollar Tea Club sent me today.

Out of the bag, it smells distinctly like pink bubblegum. Brewed up, it smells more raspberry bubblegum… interesting.

The folks I’m staying with had a cup (this made two, 12oz cups of tea). Their reaction? “It was sweet, nice”. They’re not tea people, but they appreciated it.

I’m a bit more… discerning? lol Or picky.

Hibiscus haters, don’t try this one. It’s as bloody as they come, in all its glory. It’s also surprisingly tart the longer you steep it. Sadly, more sweetener is needed to make it palatable for this gal.

Sweetened, I could drink a whole jug of this at one sitting, especially once it cooled. Yep, this tea’s a keeper.

I kept it, literally, three years…. but it was time to say goodbye. I steeped it THREE times. Each time was a joy.

And now, it’s done.

My birthday gift to myself – Josephine!

I contemplated between this and the chai – I’m SO thrilled I picked this. Was a touch concerned about the jasmine, and I needn’t be. Grapefruit, orange are both very present and juicy, strong malty black base, sweet finish with a hint of jasmine – but only lending some smoothness, nothing more.

Expensive, and soooo worth it.

Plus, it reminded me of the time – I can’t make this up – where an American in Paris and I bought every single Laduree macaron, brought them to a nearby park (it’s famous but I can’t for the life of me remember the name), and sat next to it, eating half each of every single one.

I’m a bad reviewer – don’t consider this a proper review. I’ll just start with that.

Why? Because I’ve added all sorts of things to this mix today, I just didn’t feel like straight matcha.

What did I add? Uh….

some Ghirardelli 60% chocolate chips and stevia, along with chocolate almond milk and hot water.

Matcha purists, I’m sorry. This is just sooooo darn good.

No idea why this is called Presidential, unless it’s just to keep in tune with the (fun) company name. Regardless, as stated, it’s a black peach tea.

I love the packaging and the smell, and the company’s customer service rocks my casbah. Still this tea isn’t as impressive as I want it to be. Yes, it’s delicious. The tea leaves are a bit smaller than I’d prefer; I love to watch my teas unfurl as they steep. This one is more granular than long and leafy. Or, at least the batch I received, is.

As well, this just doesn’t taste strongly of peach, to me. Third time I’ve had it, this time it’s cooled to almost lukewarm, and it’s the most peachy that I’ve found it so far. It definitely needs sweetener, and while I do enjoy it (it’s smoooooth like butter), it’s just not luscious and ripe and juicy like I want a peach tea to be.

In fairness, I’ve yet to find a peach tea that’s luscious and ripe and juicy tasting. So on that scale, if I’m comparing to others, this one does a bang-up job. At the top 5% of the peach teas I’ve had, so far.

Still, there’s an artificial quality to this that I just don’t dig, and it bugs me. I’ll steep it a few more times in different ways (this is my third? fourth? try) to see if I can pull out it’s juiciness, minus the aftertaste. As well, I steeped it a bit long and hot this time, which may be the issue.

Oddly, not enjoying this as much as I have in the past. Mind you, cooled, any tea tastes differently. So I’m chalking it up to the temperature and not the tea. For now. ;)

Cooled, this smells like grassy, pink, cheap bubblegum, the kind you’d get when you were a kid, all soft and gooey even as you took it out of the packaging. Add in some wheatgrass juice smell (not taste) and you’ve got a lovely little mix. Some floral notes, a bit thick and buttery, it’s lovely… just not amazing.

Out of the three teas I was sent to review from this company, the smell of this one wins, but it’s the loser in regards to flavor. Not bad! Just, my least favorite of the three.

Having said that – steeping it a bit longer seems to give it less of an artificial taste (I’m pretty sure it’s the cream flavoring, the others don’t have this issue), as well as steeping it at a lower-than-boiling temperature.

I get a lot of astringency with this though as it cools, almost cloyingly dry. Again, I’m pretty sure it’s the cream flavoring, as I don’t get this from the other two, either.

Still, I could smell this tea all day. I want to bathe in this smell, bottle it for perfume and douse myself in it constantly.

Woo boy, got a ton of florals in this one this time around. I LOVED the rooibos version of this, and loved this the last time I had it with the first package of this gift box.

This time? Lots of floral, a bit too much for me… I should know better when I see a flower in my tea, a big one. REMOVE.

Still, I steeped it, and it’s lovely – but really floral. Smooth though, and sweet. A bit granular? I need to look at the ingredient list. The flower is familiar, yet, can’t place it. Still like the vanilla notes of this one, but will remove any flowers next time before I steep it again.
