335 Tasting Notes
I got this as my sample when I bought some teas last time. I’ve been wanting to try their black currant tea, since black currant flavoring in black tea is a favorite of mine.
This blend didn’t have the juiciness I was looking for. There was barely any black currant flavor to it. I think I like Assam with black currant, and this tasted like Ceylon more, too.
Preparation
Very likable Earl Grey. I haven’t had Earl Grey in years or a tea with lavender for a very long time either. This tea has a Lipton like brisk blend of the black tea, though better. None of the flavors are overpowering. I had it iced, and it was great. Before you sip it, you can inhale the orange flavor.
Preparation
This tea has changed my opinion on Darjeeling. I had a sample of a 2nd flush, where the flavor was brash and bitter and in your face. I wasn’t a fan. Then this one is FLORAL! The dry tea smells and tastes like what daisies would taste like. I can’t rate it since I don’t feel like I know what Darjeeling is yet. The varieties at tea shops does overwhelm me, from the initials given after the estate of the tea, to which flush it is. It’s very diverse.
I wasn’t sure this was a black tea, but on the package it says black tea, but the tea’s appearance looks white tea like.
Thank you Doulton for a sample of this tea.
I almost rejected the whole Darjeeling tea category, but now I am interested what else it offers
Preparation
Where’s the rhubarb?
I love rhubarb, at one job we made rhubarb consomme and served a shrimp, lobster, and celery slaw with it. That was yummy. This tea is yummy, but no rhubarb is in it! The apple is the main flavor, with some creaminess to it. I’m not a fan of overpowering flavor, but the name should be what the tea is.
I am just not a fan of TeaG’s flavored Rooibush teas. I have only had three, but from those, I think I will go elsewhere for flavored rooibos.
I wish I had some rhubarb jam, then this tea would be more to my liking. It’s still a nice tea, I’ll go through the 50g I bought. It’s just not what I wanted.
Preparation
Sorry TeaGschwendner, this tea needs to have strawberry flavor to be called Strawberry Cream. It smells amazing, but the strawberry flavor is very weak. No creaminess flavor is there, either. I am very disappointed in it. I love rooibos, but I bought this for the flavor, too! On to the next one…
Preparation
I’m in the process of drinking my second steep…smells insanely tasty. I see this tea pairing well with a caramel dessert or a rib eye steak. It’s dark and stormy, and the description is pretty accurate, along with everyone’s reviews. When it cools, the flavors deepen. The back of my tongue gets that tobacco tastes. Really full of surprises, reminds me of a bold red wine that opens up.
I love how tea leaves uncurl, just a simple little show. It reminds me of those capsules from when I was younger, you dunk it in water, than it unfurls to be a foam dinosaur! Just as fun, though I am easy to entertain!
Preparation
This is my first chicory tea. I didn’t realize it was chicory until I brewed it. I looked up the ingredients because it looked like a black tea with a dark brew. I have found to like chicory in tea blends. This, not so much. It has an unlikable bitterness.
I usually rate based on how the tea is w/o additions. To me, it needed a little sugar. It has a beer like taste to it, with the lemon and coriander in it. The ginger was a strong taste, too. It smelled amazing, but it tastes drastically different. I could finish my cup, but only because I was thristy.
Preparation
Coconut macaroon! I usually drink my coconut teas iced. Each coconut flavored tea has a different style of coconut, from coconut milk to toasted coconut. This tea reminds me of the sweetened coconut you get in the baking supplies aisle at the grocery store. I didn’t pick up the custard in this tea. I personally wished there was more coconut! I have a little from my sample, I might have to add a little cream and drink warm to taste it as others recommend. Very good tea. Thank you AmazonV for the swap of this tea!
Preparation
This tea has grown on me from the first sip on. It’s real green and lightly murky. Very strong smelling. Thick on the tongue. It is one of the more grassy teas I have tasted. One of the best loose teas I have bought from an Asian grocery store, of course that’s not saying much. The shop Mitsuwa near Chicago seems to have a good turn around on their tea, always featuring a new brand. Of all the Asian groceries, I think this would be the only place I would buy tea.
Anyways, it’s a good blend. Not my favorite genmaicha…but I’ll go through the bag no problem.
