424 Tasting Notes
This was the first tea that I tried out of the set of tins I won in Persimmon Tree’s Facebook contest. It was really, really good! I love Earl Grey, so I have tried a lot of them. This one was nice and strong, which I love. But the strength wasn’t from bergamot, it was from the base and the cream taste. The bergamot was there, but it was really nicely balanced. The cream flavor was almost a caramel. The wet leaves smelled great too. Now I’m looking forward to trying the other ones.
Preparation
Sipdown! Thank you Carol Who for this sample!
This was a nice morning tea. Not a strong smack you in the face black, but a lighter one. I had two cups of it in a row. I get a bit of citrus, but not necessarily lemon. Just a brightness that I can’t place. Hmm, well I burped a little and that did taste like lemon. So I don’t know. It’s nice though.
I paired this with some Count Chocula that I needed to “eatdown” since it had been there a while.
Hmm. The reviews led me to believe this was great. I don’t hate it, it’s ok. I’m not having any trouble getting through the cup, and I definitely taste the Golden Crisp flavor. I guess all in all I can take it or leave it.
Two sipdowns in one! I had just a tiny bit of this left, so I dumped in with it a bit of cotton candy white that I had. Brewed them both up and made them into iced tea, because it’s gorgeous outside! It’s sweet and really tasty.
Other random thoughts:
- I am finally watching ep. 2 of Game of Thrones, so that I can not worry about the world spoiling it for me.
- I am looking for secret shoppers in Rochester MN, Houma LA, and Detroit Lakes MN if anyone is near there!
- My daughter picks up her cap and gown today. It is feeling very real :) :( :/
I was wrong. I got in one more sip down today.
Oh.. Happy sips own for you then. I quite liked how different it is, but Hubby thought it was strange.. I think he would side with you on this one. I’m keeping the last cup for myself :)
I had three teas set out as sip down candidates today. I accomplished his one. It’s very nice, I enjoyed it a lot.
However, due to receiving five new teas today, my number is going up instead of down.
It’s a game isn’t it, collect ALL THE TEAS and then try to drink them all down.
Deliriumsfrogs was right, she thought I would like this tea and I do!
I admit, I’m not the best at smelling things and saying what I smell for sure, but I am learning. I had to keep sniffing this one to figure out what it smelled like. Apricot? Plum maybe? Not just a peach stone fruit smell for sure. I don’t eat many apricots or plums so it could be that as well. But, it smelled nice and sort of mysterious!
It got me through having to let someone go today, and putting out a bunch of end of the month fires. That’s saying a lot. I definitely will restock this one at some point, since it fills my strong tea preference but has a different flavor than the norm. I tend to get about a dozen Earl Grays and then don’t have much variety.
mmmmmm!!!
