Another fantastic offering from Butiki! This one is surprisingly smooth for a breakfast blend. I don’t notice any astringency and I didn’t feel the need to add milk, which is unusual for me. But in spite of being so smooth, it’s still strong, flavorful, and malty. It also re-steeps beautifully.
Flavors: Dark Chocolate, Malt, Raisins

My family and I spent the weekend in St. Louis and I had the chance to visit The London Tea Room. It was a great experience and I was excited to try their most popular blend. It wasn’t a disappointment! This tea is very rich and flavorful with a nice strong black base. The current and vanilla flavors balance each other nicely. A wonderful smooth, tasty cup.
Flavors: Black Currant, Malt, Vanilla
Preparation
I tend to prefer rich, full-bodied, malty black teas that hold up well to milk. That being the case, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this one. It had a sharp muscatel taste and quite a bit of astringency.
Flavors: Muscatel
Preparation
I’ve never had a melon-flavored tea before and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. This one really did taste just like a slice of fresh, juicy cantaloupe! Drinking it hot was a bit odd, but it was delicious when I let it cool down.
Flavors: Cantaloupe
Preparation
This is different from any other oolong I’ve tried so far. It has a very warm, slightly nutty flavor that reminds me of a good loaf of whole wheat bread. It’s not my normal cup of tea, but I quite enjoyed it!
Flavors: Baked Bread, Nutty, Wheat
Preparation
This is such a unique tea! Much stronger and more flavorful than any white tea I’ve had before. The name is definitely spot-on, because even unsweetened it tastes like melted candy in a cup…super rich and creamy with wonderful butterscotch flavor. I don’t really notice the hazelnut, but there is just a hint of mocha adding some depth. I may have to give the new version of this one a try when I place my next Butiki order!
Flavors: Butterscotch, Candy, Mocha
Preparation
This tea had a surprisingly strong honey flavor with just a hint of raspberry. The black base didn’t really come through, but there was a slight astringency to the aftertaste. I enjoyed it, but I don’t think I would re-purchase.
Flavors: Astringent, Honey, Raspberry
Preparation
I’m guessing this would be better as an iced tea, but I did enjoy it hot. It has a great juicy, natural strawberry flavor. There are papaya pieces in this too, but I really only taste the strawberry. The green base is smooth and sweet with little astringency. Overall, a very nice fruity green tea.
Flavors: Strawberry

Thanks to Jenni King for recommending this one on YouTube…it’s lovely! It has a relatively mild pistachio scent in the bag and doesn’t taste like much if you drink it piping hot. But as it cools, the flavors really begin to pop: a wonderful natural pistachio flavor mingled with hints of creamy vanilla. Even unsweetened, it definitely reminded me of ice cream. A delightful treat!
Flavors: Cream, Nuts, Vanilla

This is the first gunpowder tea I’ve tried, so I must admit that I’m not quite sure what it is supposed to taste like! It was fun watch those tiny pellets expand into nice big tea leaves as I steeped it and there is an intriguing smoky aroma coming from my cup. There’s definitely quite a bit of smokiness to the flavor too…along with another taste that I can only think to describe as autumn leaves. It’s very robust and flavorful for a green tea and just the slightest astringent bite. Ordinarily, this isn’t the sort of thing I’d go for. But on a cold November day, a cup of tea that tastes like a burning leaf pile is somehow hitting the spot!
Flavors: Astringent, Autumn Leaf Pile, Smoke
