239 Tasting Notes
My first bundle of reserveclub tea from verdant tea.
I was in the mood for some dian hong. Since i already have some Moijang golden buds dianhong from yunnan sourcing i knew more or less what to expect.
6.5g / 220ml Zhuni yixing.

2m @ 85C
3m @ 85C
The taste is the same. But without a side by side brewing i cant say if its the same tea.
It however is very nice. Sweet honeytones in the first cup. Then it turns more chocolately and malty for the second and third cup.
From experience i know that this tea is better suited for gong fu brewing to bring out the most of its flavours. But with a sick 4year old i opted for the easy pot. :)
Preparation
Thank you Kittylovestea for this sample.
8g / 400ml glaspot
3m @ 80C
This tea does not look like a white. the tealeaves are dark. Almost like they dried in the sun for to long.
The tea itself is powerfully fruity. I think ripe peaches? Kind of pleasant, i think it would be good as an iced tea.
Interesting to try something as odd as this :)
Preparation
6g / 400ml glaspot.
One infusion for 3m @ 100C
Hm, this tea has somewhat of a sharpness to it. Heavy astringency on the aftertaste.
I do prefer first flush darjeelings. This is perhaps a decent breakfast tea, with some toast and marmelade.
The dry leaf looks amazing and the infusion is a lovely reddish gold.
But the taste is somewhat of a dissapointment to me. Iv´eonly tried one other second flush and that was better.
Will have to try some more SF before i make up my mind about them.
The second flush teas for 2013 will be out soon. In the mean time i will go berzerk on the 3 new FF teas ordered. Especially the Singbulli from their Tingling division :)
Preparation
7g / 90ml celadon gaiwan.
I´ve taken to do some gongfu brewing when watching big bang theory.
This time i tried this purplevarietal and i must say it is well suited for gongfu. It lifted the whole the another level.
I´ve fond that most teas do better, maybe its the constant high temperature?
The flavour was intense and with considerably less astringency. Sweet with a sharp edge. A wee bit smokey.
i did
wash/10/15/20/30/45/1m/1:20 added 25s after that.
Worked well.
Preparation
It is! Yunnan sourcing has a very good assortment of yunnan teas. They however specialize in pu-ehr.
I have had a few samples from them through trades, but have yet to order directly from them, although I have loitered on their website more than once. :D
Had another go this morning.
8g / 200ml glaspot.
Three infusions @ 100C
50s/1:15m/2m
I can help but taste oregano, maybe its because of the apperance of the leaves. Looks similar.
The taste is a mix of cinnamon and sharp herbal flavours with a slight astringency. It is very different to other japanese blacks.
Im actually lowering the score somewhat because it dissapoints if you like the usual japanese black tea flavour. and it cant stand up to a good darjeeling neither.
Preparation
1P (ca 6g) / 220ml Zhuni yixingpot
wash(1m)/1m/2m/2:30m @95C
Sweet and malty, hints of chocolate. Not nearly as good as other feng Qing teas. But still decent.
Practical to bring on a picnic etc.
Preparation
Ran out of Fuji black tea. So the time came to open up a bag of this interesting tea.
7g / 200ml glaspot
One infusion for 1m @100C.
I overslept this morning so only had time for 1 infusion.
This japanese black was a bit different.
The usual cinnamon flavor is there but with a mix of slight astringency and tones of mor classic black teas like a darjeeling second flush.
Will have to try a few more infusions before i can discern better the many flavours.
It is very good at the least :)
