drank Lady Grey by Twinings

Twinings tea is like an old friend. No matter how long you go without seeing each other, they’re always there, tested and true.

Lady Grey tastes, I think, like a more lemony Earl Grey. It has a delicious light flavour and it’s great any time. I do tend to drink it with milk and sugar even though I prefer my Earl Grey with lemon.

When I drink bagged teas though, I do tend to just leave the bag in until the tea is done, meaning occasionally the last bit is much too strong to drink, but I didn’t have that problem at all with this tea.

Good to the last drop!

This is the tea that I keep in my desk at work, for those days I forget to bring something else with me. Really, it’s delightful!

It’s a nice, smooth, simple chai with just enough flavour that I’m a bit surprised it’s made by Liptons! Honestly, for a box of tea under $3.00, I was quite impressed.

Oooh, thanks for your notes on this one. I’ve almost bought it three times now but hesitate because I generally don’t care for what Lipton does to tea. Their Island Peach Mango White in the same pyramid-bag series, is drinkable, if strogly flavored.

I feel the same about the Peach Mango, I’ll drink it but it isn’t a tea that I particularly enjoy. This IS a better Chai than I expected for the price I paid.

I don’t feel like I’m drinking Mr. Morgan’s tea when I have this, I feel like I’m drinking tea WITH Mr. Morgan.

The only description on the bag is that it’s a ‘fine black tea’ so when I opened the bag I was not expecting a smoky Lapsang Souchong-type aroma. It reminds me of cigar tabacco and applewood bacon.

I’m assuming this is what Pierpoint Morgan smelled like.

As for flavour, I tried the tea twice before I wrote this review. Once sweetened and once not. The smoky flavour is certainly there but I’m still undecided whether I like it or not…

Because it sort of tastes like I’ve made tea from Pierpoint Morgan’s cigar ashes

I was feeling a bit stuffy and all around me, people have been getting sick— and not the ‘I don’t want to go to work’ sick, REAL sick! So, I thought I would give this tea a shot to nip any cold I may be getting in the bud.

As the cleverly written description suggested I do if desperate, I added a clove of chopped fresh garlic, so keep that in mind as you read my review.

First, I can say that it did make me feel better! I had it yesterday evening and I woke up bright-eyed and tail bushy!

As for the taste, it was definitely different, and was almost somewhere between a tea and a broth. That said, I really enjoyed it! The Lemongrass/Ginger combo was lovely and not at all overpowered by the added Ginger.

If you are super not feeling well, I would recommend this for sure! Or maybe a combination of this and some DavidsTea Detox as well.

I had a plan with this tea. I thought I’d try it in a latte after reading some of the comments here, to see if that would make the butteriness less apparent. I think it was the right choice!

It sort of reminds me of an orange smoothie Popsicle. It has a certain creamy, buttery vanilla taste, but I think the citrus orange flavour is quite apparent and absolutely great!

In the words of Hannibal Smith: I love it when a plan comes together.

This tea is more aftertaste than taste—but I mean that in the best way possible. It’s sweet and peachy and reminds me a little bit of what peach-flavoured Snapple might taste like if you warmed it up. It has a very lovely mango scent and for three dollars a box, it’s one of my go to ‘spare teas to leave at work’.

drank Coco Chai Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

This is my favorite tea, without a question.

When I steep it, I fill my infuser with half boiling water, and half heated milk that I’ve warmed either on the stove or in the microwave, and I let it all steep together. No other tea latte, chai or otherwise, comes close to the deliciousness of this blend. I’m not surprised at all that this is one of DavidsTea’s best sellers.

Add a touch of honey or agave and if you like tea on the sweet side, but it doesn’t need it.

If you’re already a fan of this tea and are looking for similar blends, I would recommend DavidsTea’s Cocoa Paradiso, Mint Chocolate Rooibos or Pure Chai

This one is VERY tasty. I should order some but need to put myself on lockdown for a bit with tea buying.

I know what you mean! I finally decided that I had every single one of David’s Teas that I wanted…and when I was in their last night they told me they’re releasing a few more in a couple weeks. I was both delighted and chagrined.

Hi Beckara, I live in Montreal, I bought a tin of this tea but don’t Love it. Would you be interested in a trade? If not i’m willing to just give this to you, it’s one tablespoon short of 100g. please let me know, I just started drinking tea this year after receiving a promotional tea bottle from a Party company and i’m still discovering what I like and Don’t like, I would hate to see this go to waste.

Bio

Hello, Steepster!

I’m a twenty-something who attends Concordia University studying English Lit and Irish Studies. I also work at an online store that sells party supplies and costumes! My life is literally a party everyday!

Besides my work/school I’m also a comic book lover. I love attending conventions and have, in the past, done so in costume! (In 2009 it was Sally Jupiter). I also co-author a web comic called Abe and Kroenen and plan on being the author for a couple more upcoming projects. You can check those all out on my website/blog if you’re interested!

Now! About tea!

Formerly an avid coffee drinker I realised that 1. I didn’t really like the taste and 2. I really wasn’t ever getting enough sleep. The switch to tea was, at first, a painful one as extensively my knowledge of tea reached only so far as what was available at Tim Hortons and what my grandmothers kept in their cupboards.

I had a roommate, however, that never drank coffee—and slowly but surely I found myself converted. Then, just last summer, I stumbled upon DavidsTea and my life was changed forever.

Besides David’s, I also visit Teaopia whenever I’m back in Ontario, I’ve recently uncovered Camellia Sinensis in Montreal and new place that I’m yet to try—Milly’s Boutique!

I’m also a strong believer in Twinings and The Stash Company, and I’ve recently ordered some teas from 52teas, The Republic of Tea and Andrews & Dunham and I’m eagerly awaiting their arrival!

P.S. I love to write, and I love tea so expect me to chatter about in my reviews quite a bit!
