1758 Tasting Notes
This is a really nice tea with buttery and floral notes. It does not have any harsh vegetal notes to it.
I steeped this eight times in a 150ml teapot with 8.2g leaf and 190 degree water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, and 30 seconds.
Preparation
This tea was good. Just what you expect from a Dayi ripe. A moderate amount of fermentation taste that was not fishy or unpleasant and a sweet note from the beginning. I did not notice any bitterness. I used a little more leaves than usual because I over estimated the size of my gaiwan. I thought it was 180ml but I measured it and it was 150ml. The tea was still quite good just a bit strong. As to the specifics of the notes I really wasn’t paying attention so I am not sure.
I steeped this twelve times in a 150ml gaiwan with 14.2g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. Judging by the color of the tea there were another six steeps left at least.

This is a very nice tea with muscatel notes as advertised. I like this one.
I brewed this one time with a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 190 degree water for 3 minutes.
Flavors: Muscatel
Preparation
this was definitely the tastiest semi aged raw I have tried. There was a sweet note from beginning to end with just a little bitterness in the mix. There was no strong note of leather or tobacco although I could taste a feint note trying to emerge but not quite succeeding. This is one I will drink again. I only gave this eight steeps because I want to move on to something else while it is still early but this was really good and would definitely have gone twelve or fourteen steeps.
I steeped this eight times in a 150ml gaiwan with 9.1g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, and 30 sec.

Preparation
This is a fairly nice ripe tea. However it does not seem to have cleared as much as I imagine a 2005 tea should. There was a strong fermentation taste but only in the first three steeps. It was slightly bitter at first but this did not last long. It gradually switched over to a nice sweet ripe tea. Towards the end I am thinking of dates but this is just an interpretation. It was a good tea.
I steeped this twelve times in a 130ml teapot with 11.5g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. I could have gotten a few more steeps out of the leaves if I wanted to continue.

Preparation
This is a very nice puerh with a lot of fermentation flavor. It tastes like it was heavily fermented. The fermentation flavor was noticeable through the sixth steep. There was a nice sweet note behind the fermentation and a bit of a bitter character early on. It developed into a nice sweet ripe puerh. I am thinking more the taste of mushrooms rather than fruity but it was good. And there were some notes of dark chocolate in the early steeps.
I steeped this twelve times in a 150ml gaiwan with 12.7g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. It was not done at twelve. There were a few more steeps left if I wanted to continue.
Preparation
This is an excellent tea. Not really sure how to describe the notes. I am relatively new to first flush Darjeelings. I only know that these teas taste nothing like a traditional black tea, nor a green, nor a oolong. Perhaps they should be considered a seventh type of tea. While there were a lot of green leaves in the tea it does not taste vegetal or grassy. Not sure if I would say this one is muscatel.
Brewed this twice in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker with 3 tsp leaf and 190 degree water. I steeped it for 3 min and 4 min. Put the second steeping in a thermosfor work.
Preparation
This is a fairly tasty black tea. It’s got a malty note to it and I would say a bit of a fruity note. As it is pure bud it should be high in caffeine.
I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water.
Preparation
This is one of Vahdam’s cheaper teas. The leaves are all black like a traditional black tea. It still doesn’t taste quite like a black tea to me. It is somewhat malty and there are some other notes as well. Not really sure how to describe them. They sell this tea for $9 and I think it was on sale when I bought it. I will not be putting in another order with Vahdam for a while. Got about 2kg of tea in this last order, some 21 teas.
I steeped this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water.
Preparation
Got this with my order yesterday. It is a very light colored and light tasting tea. It does not taste like a black, a green, or an oolong to me. It is very hard to describe. It is classified as a black tea but has a lot of green leaves. The green leaves don’t give off a vegetal note however. It does have that Muscatel grape note to it. It is a very good tea.

First flush Darjeelings have been kind of giving me some trouble figuring out too, as they dont really fit into any of the normal categories.
