1758 Tasting Notes
This was a very nice ripe puerh tea from Puerhshop with little bitterness and a semi sweet note from the start. This semi sweet note slowly turned into a fruity note, dates come to mind but this is just an interpretation. Someone else might call it something else.
I steeped this twelve times in a 130ml teapot with 10.1g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. Judging by the color of the tea I would say there were another two or three steeps left to this tea.
Flavors: Dates, Earth, Sweet
Preparation
This is a very nice tasting tea with just a little fermentation flavor left, barely noticeable in the first three steeps or so. There was no fishy taste or dirty taste but a clean fermentation taste to this one. And it was mostly sweet but just a little bittersweet in the first steeping. As the fermentation faded another sweet note emerged. Kind of like a dried fruit note I would say. This is very good tea and worth a sample if you are ordering from Yunnan Sourcing.
I steeped this twelve times in a 160ml solid silver teapot with 13.8g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. There were maybe two more steeps in the leaves had I wanted to continue.
Preparation
Drinking this hot this time. I think it may be better hot than iced. The raspberry flavor is a little stronger. This is quite a tea when you consider it cost $5 for 100g. If we do another group buy next year I definitely recommend others join in. It is good stuff.
I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 3 minutes.
Preparation
Bought this recently from Puerhshop. It was quite inexpensive. It has what I would call the typical Dayi flavor profile. A sweet fermentation taste with little bitterness and no fishy or unpleasant notes. After the fermentation taste is gone the sweet note changes into something else, also sweet. This note has a bit of a light fruitiness but not real strong with this one. It is a good puerh. It doesn’t qualify as spectacular but you do get Dayi’s quality with it. Even their cheaper blends like this one that quality comes across.
I steeped this ten times in a 180ml gaiwan with 14g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec. 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, and 1 minute.
Flavors: Earth, Sweet
Preparation
This is a very nice tea. It is light in flavor, not strong. It has that classic Darjeeling muscatel note. This stuff is good.
I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 190 degree water for 3 minutes.

Preparation
Puerh Tea TTB. This was a very nice ripe. I didn’t notice any bitterness although there was a fair amount of fermentation flavor that lasted four or five steeps. There was a sweet note to the fermentation. It evolved into a different sweet note once the fermentation was history. Overall this was a very good brick.
I steeped this twelve times with 10.4g leaf in a 150ml gaiwan with boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 minutes. There were definitely a few more steeps in the leaves.
Preparation
Puerh Tea TTB. This is another one I didn’t remember drinking. This tea was bitter and astringent through the first six steeps. After this it got a little better even getting a sweet note in the 9th and 10th steeps. Overall this was pretty good once you got past the bitterness and the astringency.
I steeped this ten times in a 75ml teapot with 4.9g leaf and boiling water. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, and 1 minute.
Preparation
Tried this as a cold brewed iced tea. It came out a little bitter and the taste of the Andean Raspberry was not as strong as I had hoped. It was decent but maybe this one is better hot. It just seemed like a logical one to make iced. I suspect that the Andean Raspberry is not as powerful as normal raspberries or I think there would be more flavor from it.
I steeped one liter of water overnight in the refrigerator in a 1 liter Lupica Handy Cooler with 4 tsp leaf.
Preparation
This is an excellent tea with a light fruity taste and that brisk taste that I think is common to Ceylon teas. I think there is just a little bit of malt to this tea. This was a very good value as it was not expensive.
I steeped this tea one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 3 minutes.
Preparation
Puerh Tea TTB. This was a nice tea. It started out sweet before the leaves fully opened up. Once the leaves opened up it developed a nice orange color and there was a little bitterness. There was a little bit of leather and tobacco in this tea. Overall I liked this tea.
I steeped this ten times in a 75ml teapot with 6g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, and 1 minute.
