247 Tasting Notes
I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about teapigs lately so I was super excited to find this while wandering the Holiday Fair at Grand Central earlier this week. I’ve had it a few times since and it hasn’t been exactly what I’ve hoped for yet, but it is growing on me a little.
I love the rooibos base, I think that does wonders for the tea and helps give it a more Christmasy feel. But it’s very straight forward – I can taste cinnamon and cloves but that’s it.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves
I stopped by Tea Guys again yesterday and filled up on new teas (almost have 100 in my cupboard now :D) and I snagged this guy.
The apple flavor is there but not super strong and it’s mellow underneath the black tea. It’s a similar apple flavor to that in Apple Cider which I really enjoy. I do taste the fig but it’s not totally obvious to me (partially because fig as a flavor is not one I’m super familiar with.) The flavors all blend together well and it has a smooth feeling to it. It smells like quintessential New England and it reminds me of Autumn. This is definitely one I’ll hold on to and probably pick up another ounce after I finish up the ounce I have already.
Flavors: Apple, Fig
I got this in a swap awhile back and I’ve been waiting to try it for awhile. It’s vegetal but not heavily, I do taste more hay, grass, and overall earthy tones but it’s mellow. This is the first green tea I’ve had (other than some flavored ones from Teavana) that I’ve had and actually enjoyed – thanks Uchinaguchi for the swap & introducing me to new teas I never would have tried on my own!
Flavors: Grass, Hay, Honey, Vegetal
I picked this up from the H&S store in SoHo yesterday (I had them check in the back for me and only 2 of the Ambessa blends were to be found but hey, I’ll bite.) I wasn’t expecting to like this one all too much, honestly, I mainly picked it up for the tin. But I was pleasantly surprised, the chocolate note was very nice compared to others I’ve had and it wasn’t terribly peanutty as I was anticipating, more of an aftertaste/undertone to the chocolate.
Flavors: Chocolate, Nuts
I thought I reviewed this before, but I guess not so here goes.
I steeped this one for closer to 3-5 minutes this time and I enjoy it more than usual. There’s a strong flavor of roses and lemon which try as I may, I just don’t like. Definitely can taste some citrus and hibiscus but the mango is lacking. Others seem to like it but I just don’t, I’ll have to throw it in my box for the Herbal TTB when it comes around.
Flavors: Citrus, Hibiscus, Lemon, Rose
This is definitely growing on me, looking back at my previous notes for this tea I’m in complete awe. I definitely used to not like this tea at all… I’m not sure what happened!
I still couldn’t taste the chocolate so much but I’ve come to terms with that and the other flavors do really speak for themselves. It’s very minty and after taking a sip I get the same cooling feeling as you do after brushing your teeth (but in a good way!) and there’s some vanilla notes that I overlooked in the past. I’m really enjoying this one.
Flavors: Cream, Mint, Vanilla
I had my second to last tea bag of this today, so this one is in a temporary sipdown phase.
This was very good, it definitely has a ginger kick to it which is why I enjoy it I think. This time I also tasted some citrusy, lemon and orange undertones which were wonderful! I’m glad I had the opportunity to try this out!
Flavors: Citrus, Ginger
