348 Tasting Notes
Mmmm, this is nice. Apple, cinnamon, brandy? (I haven’t had brandy in forever, but I’m guessing that’s what that flavour is). Then a nuttiness from the pecans and a sweet creaminess from the oolong base.
Flavors: Apple, Brandy, Cinnamon, Pecan
Preparation
OMG. Ok, so I might have overleafed this a little (I believe the thought process was “caffeine… moar caffeine”) which in retrospect, might not have been the best idea. This is HOT. Like, hot pepper and cinnamon spicy. Mmmmm. :) I added some honey and I’m drinking it with a glass of cold water beside me, lol. I think I’m coming down with a cold and I’m not really sure whether this is helpful – it’s clearing out the sinuses, but also burning my throat a little. Either way, pleased to have this in my cupboard since it’s totally unlike any other tea I own. :)
Preparation
Yummmm. This is pretty similar to the “Nepal 2nd Flush Golden Tips” from What-Cha that I had earlier this evening. Not that this tastes like a Nepalese tea… more that the Nepalese tea does a surprisingly good job of impersonating a high grade dian hong. :)
Tonight I’m getting sweet potato, malt, honey, bread, and a hint of citrus as it cools. Complex, full-bodied, delicious.
Preparation
My stomach was feeling a bit weird today so I decided to feed it some puerh. Brewed it fairly strong – 5g in my 10oz mug, rinsed x2 then steeped for 4min, 6min, 8min. I like that it never seems to get bitter or astringent. I think the second steeping is still my favourite. Third is a bit lighter, but still quite drinkable.
Flavors: Caramel, Earth, Sweet
Preparation
I’m trying two Niligiri teas this evening – this one and Nonsuch. I’m getting the impression that Nilgiri teas are medium-bodied floral blacks in general. This one is a little bit sweeter and maltier than the other one, almost a baked goods aroma when freshly steeped, with some fruitiness and astringency coming out as it cools. It’s ok, but not something I’d buy more of.
Flavors: Floral, Fruity, Malt
